“It’s the fight, isn’t it? The struggle. The idea that I’ll pin you down and take what I want…” He smiled, slow and dangerous. Watching me struggle to deny him. Watching me fail…Bound to a man I hate, I’m trapped. All that I was is gone. Taken. Stripped away, only to feed the beast who dares to call himself my equal, while having the gall to leave me helpless to his whims. Who offers … the gall to leave me helpless to his whims. Who offers protection in place of my Goddess-given power.
Protection I didn’t need before him.
Captain Asher Rawlings is a man apart. Relentless. Driven to take and possess.
And he’s winning.

Danvers has done it again with her fantastic new instalment to The Last Tristan series. With characters that are well formed and constantly evolving, she is a master at developing relationships and situations to create a compelling plot and believable universe.
I definitely held my breath through several of the scenes, particularly those with General Tilcot, whose increasingly salacious, vindictive character seemed to get in the way of his common sense. He’s the perfect foil to Asher, letting his emotions rule him, whereas Asher has to rein them in to keep them in check.
The central relationship between Asha and our wildcat Mila is a wrestle between begrudging respect and attraction and a deep rooted dislike for what they perceive each other stands for. The constant push and pull keeps the relationship interesting and of course deliciously hot! Mila begins to better understand world of the elites and her ensuing battle for dominance in the relationship between her and Asher and presses her advantages without losing her claws!
I promised that I’d pace myself with this one but as usual I couldn’t put it down!
I’d thoroughly recommend reading the series from the beginning to fully understand the story. It’s well worth it! The twists and turns keep you guessing and Danvers’ masterful control of the plot and characters makes this a really fantastic read.
Can’t wait for the next installment!
So first off, this book picks up right where you are left hanging at the end of book 2 (so if you don’t remember, you may want to refresh). Being enslaved obviously doesn’t work for the little Wood Menace known as Mila, aka Lady Wildcat, cause she is trying to kick @$$ and kill every one without bothering to take names. She wants to free the High Priestess and her people, but instead she ended up bonded to an @$$hat Elite know-it-all. She feels helpless because for the first time in her life she is stripped of her powers and she is truly being used as a weapon. To make matters worse, there are others in the Empire who would rather have her taken away from Asher and have her used as a breeder. Will she ever get free and save her people? Will her and Asher turn against the Empire and free the Priestesses?
Though Mila call drive you crazy at times, her feelings and emotions are so genuine and real for her character that the reader can’t help but relate to her plight. The same goes for Asher. Ms. Danvers has done such a wonderful job creating the world-building within this story line that these characters reactions in some of the situations just hightens the drama and intrigue with the plot. It’s definitely a series I recommend.
Mila is so frustrating to me. I want her not to fright so hard on what is right in front of her, but there wouldn’t be much a story if she didn’t. The book itself is wonderful! A great world to get lost in.
So excited to see book 3 come out in this incredible series by Myra! Def my favorite book thus far in this series. Smoking hot as the relationship heats up and starts to work itself out. Get your fan out cuz it is H O T!! Still so much mystery left in the story but man oh man is it worth the ride!
Best book in the series so far. Wish this was one whole book, to be honest – I had to reread the other two just to orient myself. But love how the characters are progressing
Finally the third book is out!
I was impressed by how the story is turning out. It wasn’t what I expected but finally a twist to the story. Mila’s character is growing and she is slowly learning more about who she is (or what she can do) Though I was upset with one of the characters (wont spoil who) but I guess it’s for the greater good. I wished though that Asher would be more….communicative…Or perhaps he knows how stubborn Mila can be. Those two need to see a therapist.
With how the story is moving, I’m excited to see how Asher is going to react/behave in the next book.
Absolutely LOVE this series and this third installment absolutely didn’t disappoint! From the wonderfully written characters, and all of their dark edges to the intricate world she has built with its magical surprises and hidden dangers. I highly recommend the entire series, but Lavish Destruction was definitely one of my favourites!!
Summary
The book picks up where insatiable Corruption ends: Mila fails in escaping and Asher and they both realize they are more connected then they thought possible. Asher is distraught at Mila’s near death and they now have to deal with the repercussions of her actions. They are under the spotlight and Asher’s control of Mila comes into question. Can Asher tame our wild cat, or have they doomed each other? Can they work together to do what needs to be done? Will Mila be able to tap into her womanly powers and
Thoughts (May Contain Spoilers)
Let it be clear, no matter how smoking hot Asher is, he is a kidnapper and slaver and that’s hekka evil ya’ll. He has taken Mila against her will. Mila is forced to be close to him and even dabbles in some hot seduction of her capturer. I love Danvers likeness of Mila and Kas. Mila’s only friend over the last 5 years has been Kas: the lioness. Mila is truly wild, a beast from the forest and can’t be tamed. All she knows about relationships are through Kas. This world is new to her. Comfort is new. She has a lot of fight in her and I don’t expect her to down easy (if at all).
While I do say Asher is evil and Mila is just a prize, I think there was a connection in the first book in the market. Was it all because of Ki? Maybe. Does that at least give me hope that they can truly bond out of genuineness? Absolutely! As long as Asher forces himself on Mila, he will never have her. [[SPOILERS]] Now that they are on equal footing and are both bonded to each other via the cuffs, they are both now vulnerable enough to ‘win’ each other’s hearts
To the Author
I think Danvers has created a unique world and such a lovely tale. I am happy that Mila isn’t a damsel and that she has talons and fangs. The great thing about TLT is that I believe the world to be real and that’s all because of Danvers brilliant weaving of the story. Kudos!
This series is so addicting! I love how the series is developing. And I literally have a problem putting these books down as soon as I start them. This is definitely the case with Lavish Destruction.
This story also finally gives us some action between the two main characters. Which has been danced around the last two books before this one. But every book is so worth the read and the wait! I love the main heroine. I root for her everytime. Tho I also have to admit i root for the hero sometimes too. If you’ve read the series so far you may understand why I only root for him sometimes. Lol
Even tho this is an ongoing series I LOVED how this book was ended! I won’t post any spoilers but you definitely don’t want to miss this one!
This series keeps getting better and better. If you liked the first two books, you’ll love this one. Mila and Captain Rawlings are so addictive to read. Such a hot pair with overwhelming chemistry between the two. The characters are written so well, in depth and interesting but never too introspective that you get bored. A lot happens in this book, I blasted through it so quickly. I couldn’t put it down.
Myra Danvers is my favorite dark romance, sci-fi writer. She is an automatic purchase. All of her books are page-turning-up-all-nighters. Lavish is the third in the Tritan series and they only get better as they progress. Myra does world building like no other and her stories are unique for this genre. Feisty Mila and mysterious Captain Rawlings are two characters you will fall in love with. Myra’s stories take unexpected turns just when you think you know where it is heading. So good. Be prepared to stay up late. Five Stars!
Lavish destruction is by far one of the best books I’ve read so far this year. The suspense of it kept me on the edge of my seat frantically flipping pages. The overreaching story arc is becoming more and more put together and I fell like Myra Danvers has a couple more surprises in store for us. I cannot wait for the best installment.
Perfection! That’s what this story is. It continues the story of one of my favorite slightly disturbed female characters of all time. Mila is a force of nature and it’s always a question as to whether she is going to destroy the world or save it. I tend to believe she is going to cleanse the world with fire. She doesn’t know who she can trust. She doesn’t know who she can depend on. And, she doesn’t understand or have faith in the little tidbits that get tossed to her like bread crumbs to the pigeons. The whole things keeps her on edge, and that’s never a good thing. One of my favorite things about this story is the way the relationship between Captain and Mila is progressing. Captain is still a mystery for the most part, but there are glimpses into who is might be under that guarded exterior. This book has all the excitement of the other two, and the pace kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I can’t wait to see what deliciously devious thing Mila attempts to do next and the actions Asher will take to try to protect her.
Myra clearly carefully planned out where she wants her story to go and she delivers and incredible story in every book that she releases in this series. I impatiently await each as they come out because they are absolutely excellent. I cannot recommend this series enough. They are a must read if you like sci-fi romance books with a strong female character.
Loved this third book. I couldn’t keep it down. Myra has such a way with building worlds and characters. The characters aren’t fake, they each have faults and strengths. I can’t await for what is in store next.
This is the third book in The Last Tritan series; it is not a standalone. The author has the best titles for this series, I love them, but not as much as I loved this book. When I read anything by this author, I try to read very carefully because I think I might miss a hint of what’s to come, but I generally get greedy and gobble all the wonderful words. Mila and Asher are forced to work together-the impulsive, reckless, dark one and the logical, rational one. Mila grows and changes in this book, as she has to decide who to trust. We learn more about Asher, who is such a perfect adversary for Mila. My favourite secondary character was Marco! Love Marco! I’ve no idea where this story is going, but I am hanging on for the ride. Ms Danvers writes beautifully and I look forward to all her words, worlds, and wonderful characters.
Finally, all the sexual tension between the two comes to head in this third book. It’s been a long wait but what a ride it has been, and is looking to be going forward. I thoroughly gobbled up this third installment, needing to know what was going to happen next and it DOES NOT DISAPPOINT!!! I am, however, stuck waiting for the next installment.
My only issue is (and has been) with Mila. And this is most likely due to the author’s fault, in that her writing is so damn good that I am finding myself annoyed with the way this character thinks and acts. She’s fictional, and yet if she was real, I would have slapped her more than once already. And yet, I can’t fault her for the way she reacts as well. Everyone who says they are there to help her just keeps giving her these clues and not telling her directly what they want her to do. Of course, even when they tell her not to do things, she doesn’t listen to them as well. Like I said, really can’t blame her after all that she’s been through, she still feels that she is all alone in the world and it’s her burden to carry to see things through. Powerful and yet so naive in so many ways.
I like the small glimpse we got into the Captain’s life in this book. It’s not much but it’s good to know that he also needed some help to control his gift as well, that it’s not only Mila who isn’t fully trained. It kind of makes them even in some ways, since I thought he was welled trained early on in the previous books.
Please, if you haven’t read the first two books, don’t read this one yet. You would have missed out on too much to fully understand this book. And if you have not read this series, what are you waiting for! Go read the series and join the rest of us in waiting for the next installment.
This is the third book in the Last Tristan series and it is, by far, my favorite. It was action packed from the start and kept me hooked the entire time. This story is full of magic, terror, betrayal, courage, longing, repulsion, heroes and villains. Nothing and no one is as it seems. Basically, here there be dragons. Enjoy!
This is such an intoxicating story and I cannot get enough. Myra Danvers is truly an exceptional author, and I would read anything she wrote.
We begin right in the aftermath of Mila’s reckless rebellion. She did the one thing she was advised against, drawing General Tilcot attention to herself, and therefore jeopardizing everything. It would be catastrophic if Tilcot found out what Mila and Asher really was. So they have to treat carefully not to reveal that or how tightly they are actually bound. Which means they have to thrust each other to get out alive.
We finally see some real growth from Mila. She is learning from past mistakes and slowly beginning to think things through before acting, not just making rash and sometimes unpredictable decisions.
Likewise we learn a lot more about Asher. Like his training from Sasha and that he doesn’t always have control over the situation. We also get some of the reasons why he has made some of his earlier choices.
I so look forward to what Asher and Mila will do next, now that there are on more equal footing.
Shall we begin?
As we continue our adventure with Mila and Asher, their relationship finally heats up and more tidbits of information are revealed surrounding the machinations of Milithia and the foretold Prophesy.
Mila is slowing learning to trust Asher up to a point, but her first and foremost concern are the rebels and the people of her world. Three ominous words, “Shall we begin?” and General Tilcot’s evil intentions are revealed during a meeting with Mila and the High Priestess that is more like a brutal interrogation. I didn’t realize I was holding my breath during that particular episode until it was over.
This meeting and the outcome sets in motion another series of events that will have lasting repercussions for everyone involved. Mila is learning quickly how to navigate the world of Elites and to use her power to its full potential. The cat and mouse game between Mila and Asher continues, the only difference is now who is controlling who.
I am thoroughly enjoying the adventure that Ms. Danvers is taking us on, the subtleties and slight nuances of the plot being woven are a delight to read and can be missed if you’re not careful. The prophesy has begun IMO and the suspense is palpable, the intrigue intense, and the ultimate outcome that we are heading towards is going to be cataclysmic!! I am sooo deeply invested in this story and the characters that I believe, no scratch that, I know that this story is going to leave a profound and lasting effect on me.
Ms. Danvers is showing the literary world that she is a master storyteller with her epic The Last Tritan. Every fan of sci-fi fantasy and romance should be reading this story. If you aren’t, you are missing out on a grand adventure where the outcome is anybody’s guess at this point. But that is the point, what happens next? Who will be affected? Will the fulfillment of the Prophesy be a good thing or doom everyone in the end?
And so our journey continues…
