This is a short story, or Novella, about a young woman who has to reinvent herself after running from her old life to escape danger. She meets the hero and with his help she faces the danger she left behind, prepared to do the right thing if necessary. It is very quick, the whole book can be read in 1.5 hours, so there is a meeting, a courtship, and a resolution in pretty quick time. The characters are real, but we don’t get very deep into their lives. Although the heroine finds herself in a few awkward situations, this book wasn’t as humorous as other books I’ve read by this author. However, it was a cute, sweet story and is worth a read if you want something light and short.

I enjoyed this book! It was a quick read.
Laura is young and trying to make peace with the decisions she made. She meets Trace and likes him very much, but isn’t sure she wants to have a relationship. Trace helps her and lets her know he would like to get to know her better..
Opening line of this book is funny. I mean, I get to smile AND learn a new term! Laura classifies herself as a “junker”, where she finds other people’s trash (and I use the term in the nicest way) and gives it a new lease on life. And the second term I learned was “upcyle”, the very definition of turning trash to treasure, so to speak. Laura’s crazy, crazy life is a story best told by the author – I’d only give spoilers and do a bad job at that! – all I can say is that she is in hiding and on the run. However, she is going to start dating again and is set up on a blind date with a dear friend’s nephew. Yeah. No. She manages to miss the date, meets another ‘upcyler’ on the way there, and that’s when it STARTS to get crazy. Tracey (‘please call him Trace’) Dixon practically arm wrestles her for some furniture pieces left on the side of the road. It’s a meet-cute but Trace is a bit of a…man-jerk, let’s say. He redeems himself, big time, and helps Laura navigate all the scary and crazy bits in her life. There is humor, passion, funny characters, and an interesting plot. Quick read, it moved fast, and made for an enjoyable evening.
