He never expected to raise his kid sister, but she’s worth the sacrifices that John Tillman has made but the empty nest is calling his name. He’s no hero, just a guy trying to adapt to new parameters and if Logan Maddox isn’t fully the gay identity he’s finally accepted…well, it’s not top priority. John’s trying to save for his sister’s college fund and doing his best to keep his shifting under the radar. Logan is taking a trip into Alaska’s Back country and trying to connect with his son. Fate has its own objective and is going to challenge every good intention.
This male / male romance is a sweet and emotionally gripping tale with lots of red hot and steamy passion. The characters are strong, compelling and easily draw readers into their story and the romance between John and Logan is delightful as the two discover their mutual sizzling chemistry and magnetic attraction while trying to hide it from the two young ones accompanying them on the trip. The emotions that flow from the pages of this story are gripping and capture readers’ hearts as the two men try to mesh their realities with what they want.
The world the author has created has shifters with some unique differences than most and these differences makes living in Alaska a bit touchy as it causes some heated problems for their lives. The story is steady paced and full of suspense and excitement as well as the romance as John’s secret is revealed and lives get in the way, keeping the happily ever after of this delightfully charming romance in question until the very end.
Book 1 of what looks like a great series
Fun read, little bit of humour, unpleasant backstory to both characters, do they deserve a bit of happiness. It certainly doesn’t look like a happy ending can happen, but… This has a new take on shifters, well, at least one type.
John Tillman is a bush pilot in Alaska. He’s been raising his sister, Cora since their parents died in a plane crash. He’s hired by Logan Maddox to take him and his son, Will out camping and hunting for a week. Both men are attracted to each other and both have little experience being with a man. They explore each other and their sexuality at night while the teenagers sleep. The teens stir up some trouble and both men freak out a bit. Liked the ending, but wanted to see them happily committed and living together. Maybe an epilogue would help complete their story a bit better.
New to me author. This is a mm shifter story set in Alaska. Main characters are John an eagle shifter / pilot and Logan a returned vet who has lost his lower legs. Their story starts with a camping trip in the wilderness, there is miss communications but the story ends with a HEA.
Launch the Hunt (Grizzly Rim #1) by Mia West is a great story to read. This is book number one in this great start to a brand new series that I have really enjoyed reading. I recmmend this story to everyone who likes reading about LGBT and paranormal romances.

Adequate. That’s probably the best word to describe this book. It’s fine for a one-time read, but doesn’t make me want to read the sequel or beyond. This book could have been great though. Perhaps the misstep happened because this was one of the author’s earlier works that was later expanded and republished. Regardless, the book is filled with well-intentioned good ideas/beginnings but fails to follow through on a single one (i.e. the eroticism of John’s treatment of Logan’s legs as a catalyst in reformatting Logan’s perspective of his self-worth and self-awareness). The addition of the teens was a major detractor to the story and served more as a point of annoyance and aggravation. Their function would have been better served by either another couple or a pair of friends taking the trip with Logan.
Likable characters, some emotional moments, some sexy times, and a happily ever after. This is well worth the read and I’ve already started the next in the series. Enjoy!
***I decided to review an ARC of this book.***
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. The teeagers were a hoot and great kids. The main characters were delightful in their slow dancing to each other. Well written and the characters ere awesome.A great read.
The start of a new series called Grizzly Rim a well written M/M story. This is Eagle shifter John Tillman and Army veteran Logan Maddox’s story. I enjoyed reading this book and I would like to read the next one. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This was my first read for this author, I’m not normally into MM romance books but I was intrigued after I started to read. The different angle of shifter genetics, and how a mate is changed was very interesting. I didnt read much about true mates but with the attraction between John and Logan it was very much implied. John having to become a parent so early in life and his struggles, Logan trying to reestablish his relationship with his son as well as learn how to live with his amputations. My husband is a vet and amputee, the emotional turmoil and the strength that it takes to push each day was expressed very well in Mias writing. Really great characters and the storyline was captivating. I dont know if I’ll read on into the series because the MM romance isnt quite my cup of tea, but the writing and story almost overrides that so I’ll see.

I loved this book! I need to read more books in this series.
Logan Maddox, a divorced paraplegic veteran travels to Alaska with his son Will for a week of hunting, fishing and bonding. He hires bush pilot and guide John Tillman. John has to bring his sister Cora who he has raised since he was eighteen. John has to reveal his closely held secret of being an eagle shifter to John and Will when Cora borrows the plane. John and Logan’s relationship is developing, when Will finds them together and runs away. John finds him but Logan takes his anger out on him and they end up going home. Logan comes back to see John to apologize and they get their HEA.
Can you learn to fly in a week? Can you reconnect with your child, figure out what you want from life, learn to love? Logan and his son come to Alaska to explore. Luckily for them they meet a pilot who offers to take them on a hunting trip. The pilot, John, has a secret. Most of those around him are shifters. He keeps this secret always, but with Logan and the attraction that pulls them to each other, it could be impossible. A hard man who learned responsibility too early and an embattled ex-soldier fall in love. This is a really good read.
Strong, solid romance! Absolutely enjoyable. The new cover is very nice. Excellent update. John eagle shifter, big brother to Cara lusting after client he’s leading on a hike. Logan, paraplegic trying to reconnect with his son Will, reciprocates. Their attraction escalates. John, exposes his eagle to everyone when Cara takes his plane for a spin. This was just another more dangerous adventure the group faces. Between curiousity and hormonal teenagers and hormonal celibate men, how much fun will this camping trip be? Ms. West, as usual has strong amazing characters. The kids are great too. Nice read watching these men slow dance their way to a relationship. Nicely done Ms West!
