A poacher is at work in Sinful, Louisiana, and Deputy Carter LeBlanc is hot on the trail of the outlaw, trying to apprehend him before the state gets wind of the crime and sends a game warden to take over his investigation. Unfortunately, he’s hindered every step of the way by Sinful’s current mayor and all-around horrible person, Celia Arceneaux, who wants nothing more than to drive Carter to … resign. When a game warden turns up with evidence that implicates a relative of Gertie’s, Carter is left with no choice but to arrest the boy, even though no one thinks he did it. With Carter under the watchful eye of Celia and the state, Fortune, Ida Belle, and Gertie decide to catch a poacher¿before he gets away.

Some of my best friends are books. This is among the best in a well written humorous mystery series. I adore the main characters which includes two hilarious, spunky senior citizen ladies. I look forward to the next in this series.
Later Gator is the 9th book in Jana DeLeon’s Miss Fortune Mystery series and another wonderfully enjoyable read. It seems there’s a poacher at work in Sinfull, Louisianna. Deputy Sheriff Carter LeBlanc is attempting to track him down before the game wardens arrive and ruin the investigation. Of course, he’s up against Celene Arceneaux, the dreadful mayor, still undergoing an audit but none the less in office. She’s intent on forcing Carter to resign. Meanwhile, Fortune is considering becoming a PI, Ida Belle has a new car, and Gertie has a new ‘pet.’ Things are still wonderfully crazy in Sinfull, Louisianna.
Love this series. Has everything you could want…action, twist & turns, and it will have you laughing out loud at some of the things the ladies get into. Great books!!
No explosions or fire but plenty of gunshots, fast cars and speed boats. This time Gertie is trying to protect her cookie loving gator from a poacher and, of course, Fortune, Ida Belle & Gertie are hunting the poacher!
I’m running out of things to say. Just grab one and try it. You’ll like it.
More Hijinks in the Swamp
No sex…yet
Limited harsh language
Amusing, often just plain silly circumstances
Action Violence without much detail
Fortune along with Gertie and Ida Bell, her VietNam War veteran friends, set out to clear the name of a young handicapped teen who has been arrested for poaching alligators. Meanwhile, the romance between Fortune and Carter continues to heat up.
Lighthearted, fast read.
This is NOT Shakespeare. It’s potato chips for the mind, which is something some of us need from time to time.
Another enjoyable romp with the Swamp Team. I like how the principle 4 characters just accept each other as is and don’t try to change anyone (Carter and Fortune especially). Having read most of the books to date in the series (ocassionally out of order as the library gets them in) I didn’t find this one as funny as I originally did. Once you get accustomed to the absurdity of Sinful, the laughs lessen, but there’s always that light, vaguely joyous feeling to be back with characters living their best life.
I especially liked how the team, and Fortune in particular, helped out two of the denizens. Again, back to accepting people as is.
A gator being walked on a pink collar and leash; Whats not to love and keep you turning every page to see what the Fortune, Gertie and Ida Belle are up to next. I have to make myself slow down when I read because like the gators in the swamp I want to devour each book.
This book also deals with a disabled person. A much better representation here.
I love this entire series. Start with Lousiana Longshot and end with Swamp Santa. You will laugh out loud. Ms. DeLeon never disappoints.
Love, love, love this series. Sooo funny. And when a murder can be funny, I enjoy it! Some might say there’s something wrong with me, but I don’t think I’m alone.
Great writer. Always keeps your interest.
Fortune needs to get that little guy 2 bags of cookies for his pain and suffering. And in other news a gator was just seen helping himself to a apple pie someone had cooling on the back porch. GERTIE!!!!!!
This author is a hoot, laugh out loud.
Whenever the author has a new book out, I’ll read it.
the whole series are incredibly funny and very enjoyable
A fun easy read with a little mystery, humor and romance.
Love this book so enjoyable
