The Way over the Hill Gang is back at it again! This time their mission is to find justice for a slain single mother, but this cold case proves to be more complicated than they initially believe. With little to go on, no resources, and a limited amount of time to search for answers, can they crack this long-forgotten case and bring the murderer to justice?
For their second cold case adventure, the Way Over the Hill Gang investigates the 10-year-old murder of single mother Theresa Lopez, a motel maid who was brutally murdered in her living room. The only clue the file contains is that Theresa and her daughter, Eleanor, were planning to buy a used car for the teen that day.
As they work as a team to solve the case, individual members cope with their own issues. Gus struggles with his distance from his son and grandchildren, while Jake grapples with the reality of who he is versus the image his friends imagine from their shared war days. Eunice is still a pesky know-it-all, but reluctantly admits to a strained relationship with her daughter. And Marcy and Lance still warily circle each other, not ready to admit their true feelings for each other, while the activity director corrals the gang to stage a holiday extravaganza.
After help from the motel’s new manager, Marcy and Lance interview several former employees, while the guys search for the mythical man that might have captured Theresa’s suspicious heart. After an unsuccessful stakeout, the gang stages another, where Jake’s sharp observations lead to the breakthroughs they need.
The Way Over the Hill Gang’s second investigation is an invigorating romp that not only solves a crime, but gives readers a closer glimpse into the life of each member, laying out a satisfying path for the next adventure.
Allow a day for this delightful, family-friendly mystery involving older sleuths. I read an ARC and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
I just love the cast of characters that make up The Way Over the Hill Gang. They’re at it again trying to solve another cold case that the police couldn’t solve.
This book is absolutely fantastic and very well written. I laughed to I cried as I read this book. I hated to put this book down I loved it so much.
I highly recommend it. Will read again.
Go buy this book and review it.
Senior citizens may seem feeble–but sometimes it is an act! (Just ask me about my 98 year old Mom!) They really always manage to do what they want by hook or by crook.
The seniors in this retirement home love to get involved solving murder mysteries. Of course they have to be really sneaky so as not to be caught by the administration. That is no problem for this group!
You will definitely find yourself laughing at how they out maneuver the admin and sometimes each other to get the job done! They may have some physical disabilities–but their brain power is still very much intact!!
Late for Bingo by M. K. Scott will have you laughing out loud at some of the antics of the Senior Sleuths as they try to solve a cold case murder. Living in a nursing home, Gus, Lola, Herman, Jake, Marcy and Eunice are somehow successful in solving an old murder case and also planning and executing a wonderful Christmas show for the other residents of the nursing home.
This is a humorous cozy mystery that will keep you turning pages and smiling at the antics of the characters. I loved the interaction among the characters. Just because they are old, they should not be written off as useless. These are wonderful examples of clever senior citizens. I loved this book!
This book was a gift and I always review every book that I read. I highly recommend this one.
LATE. FOR. BINGO. . MK Scott
Residents played bingo five days a week for something to do at the center.
There is a meeting of the garden club. Police Detective Marcy took a shot in the leg and was here recuperating. Marcy has a cold case her partner brought in. A widowed mother saving for a car for her daughter, killed and robbed, ten years again. Seemed personal when she was stabbed twelve times, not just robbery. This group is tenacious giving them something to think about and do.They may blurt out something they shouldn’t. Their antics are a joke that adds greatly to this story. They are determined, will they once again solve it. As for Marcy proving she is not ready yet to retire.
Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
In Late for Bingo “The Way Over The Hill Gang” once again is helping Marcy solve a cold case. I love these seniors and their approach to life. You can only play so many games of Bingo! These folks have many talents from their younger lives that aid them in solving these old cases. This is another fun romp as Marcy proves once again that she is still a detective.
The Senior Sleuths are at it again. Nothing dull in this nursing home as the gang continues to solve a cold case. The characters in this book are hilarious and they are definitely not ready to spend every day playing bingo and being bored. Each member of the gang has lead an interesting and complicated life which brings a wealth of knowledge to their sleuthing adventures. Mandy, a detective who is healing from injuries she suffered on the job; is the one resident of the nursing home who has actual training and experience in solving crimes. As the sleuths follow her directions, or most commonly not, they pursue criminals like a dog with a bone. They do not give up until they have caught their prey.
This is a fun and entertaining series. You will feel like the gang are old friends. Their antics are hilarious and remind you that just because you are old does not mean you are not a valuable member of society. You need to read the series; you will be glad you did.
