The Cape Hill series is really getting better I didn’t know where the story was heading. Lasts really blew me away with all the changes and turns that we get to feel in this new chapter on the story. The relation of Brax, Leia, and Silas is heading into a whole new direction I didn’t see it coming but is a great development in the story..
Lasts is way hotter than the first book, the characters feel bolder and more mature with a more intense needs to satisfy what they crave.. in Lasts we get to know more about Brax, Leia, and, Silas their past and what made them be that way.. they’re surrounded by so many obstacles and people with a lot of back agendas and dark intensions that are making it hard to believe and trust.
Brax character really surprised me a lot, I never thought he was that dominant and sexy and determine I really like where his story is heading.
I can’t wait to read Always and finally have all the answers!!
Lasts also left us with so many questions, I’m super intrigued about where the story is heading and what is going to happen next with these amazing characters.
This story was hot and angsty and picks up exactly where Book 1 in the series “Firsts” ended. A lot of the questions that I had after the first book were answered, but even more questions were asked. I loved the trio of narrators and getting to understand the background and personalities of Brax and Silas. The narrators were phenomenal and I devoured this audiobook in one sitting. I can’t wait to get my hands on book 3.

There are not many books that leave me continually thinking about them, not a book hangover but more just in awe of the story. This series does just that! C.L. Matthews continues the Cape Hill series with its taboos and suspense, making me listen straight through. Leia, Silas, and Brax have such powerful stories. Each broken, each surprising, and each open to love and disaster. I can’t wait to see what book 3 has in store for us. With the steam factor high and the story line unpredictable, it’s sure to leave us breathless.
The narration of the book is impeccable. Aaron Sherlock breaths life into Silas with his amazing Spanish accent. Add Lacy Laurel as Leia, giving us an emotionally charged performance(that poor girl, definitely in need of guidance) and Jacob Morgan as Brax, with his confusion and high powered love coming through. Loved every minute of this book.

Loved it. Yes, I’m going to start by saying that! The continuation of Silas, Leia, and Brax’s story was perfect. We get more of their emotional perspectives and it just adds so much depth to each character. AND we get more of Dante, and his (and Sy’s) past which takes it to a whole other level of suspense in the story! What is going to happen? And how did we really get here?! It seems Sy is not a stranger to taboo relationships and something dark in his past is preventing him from giving himself fully to Leia. He can’t stay away, but he can’t yet bring himself to ‘trap’ her in this life with him. Leia’s poor torn feelings are heartbreaking. Brax’s own heartbreak is gut wrenching. There are a lot of feels with this one, even more than in Firsts I think. Matthews has opened up the story to some very intriguing outcomes and I can’t wait to keep going! 5 stars for Lasts!
If you’re into Tabboo-books and heartbreak, this is for you. I mean… *sighs* What can I say… Brax is my boy, always has been, and I hurt for him (granted, for the rest, too, but… IT’S BRAX! and want to hug him. The steamy scenes are… *whistles* I mean… Holy fire in my body… Seriously, I absolutely enjoyed this book and cannot wait to get into three.
C.L Matthews is another reason why i simply love taboo romances! This story is deliciously dirty and sinfully sexy. C.L pulled me right into a world of complicated characters and the intricate ties that bind them all. I don’t want to give out spoilers but you gotta read this trilogy!! It’s so so good! Can’t wait for Forever!!
This book was seriously amazing! If left me goinf WTF and wanting to read more. The wait for the next book is gonna be crazy! Def left me in a book hangover! I highly recommend reading firsts and lasts you wont regret it!

CL Matthews really got me ADDICTED at this point. Firsts was the perfect introduction to the second book that is, for me, the best kind of twisted and complicated relationships can be. Leia is stuck between a hard place and even harder chests. Coming from First, of course I’m team Sy… but after reading Lasts… MY HEAD IS SCREAMING.
Leia is such a teenager, so relatable and so looking for her place and who she is. She’s very back-and-forth, and I think it’s very realistic to be as conflicted as she (who wouldn’t be if they were between Brax and Sy??). Not to mention Brady’s place in this book.. A TWIST. I’m rooting for everyone in this book. Because they all deserve their happy ending. It’s so hard to not like any of CL’s characters because they are so well written!

Leia now has to deal with the guilt & consequences of what happened between her & Silas & driving Brax away. Brax, angry & hurt from what Leia has done, finds comfort in his friend Brady, bringing out confusing thoughts & emotions. Silas’ past continues to haunt him, knowing he has to let Leia go for good.
This second book tells us more of Silas’ earlier life with Dante, Leia’s dad. We also see more of Brax & his past. There are still so many secrets to be revealed. Looking forward to the next book!
Leia has to make a choice between Brax and Sy. Brax is her friend who has always been there for her. She’s always thought that he was attracted to guys. Sy is her stepfather and married to Leia’s mother but he’s been in love with Leia for years. Who will she choose? What will be consequences? You need to read this book!
I thought I was ready for Lasts. It turns out I had no idea. This book was so good! CL Matthews cranked up the dial on all the heat and suspense and angst and had me gripping my Kindle and racing through the pages as fast as I could. I so love Leia and Sy and Brax and their twisted journey to love. I can’t wait for the rest of their story!
I couldn’t finish this book . I feel like we lost the original story about a forbidden romance between a girl and an older man . I eventually ended up detesting all the characters.I didn’t like the lead character at all .Mind you I loved him in the first book . It just wasn’t for me . I didn’t like the love triangle , rectangle , octagon ….
The lead character was the worst Lead character I have ever read . and I have read a lot of bad books looking for a GEM. BUT THIS BOOK TOOK THE CAKE !

C.L. Mathews give us a dark, emotional and fleshy tale that is devilish raw , gritty and unconventional . And that , for me , makes it an addictive read …yum hum give me more !
LASTS lives up to every promise and more as the author isn’t finish with this story. Be aware , this books ends in a cliffhanger but it’s okay, the journey and characters arc merits a third book. I only encourage her to write faster ; I am salivating for more !

Lasts is the second book and continuation of First from the Cape Hill Series. It picks up from the cliffhanger (which this author seems to like) from book one and dives back into the lives of Sy, Leia, and Brax. The first book MUST be read first before this one in order to fully comprehend the situations that come up in this book. The first book had me rooting for the underdog, a character that no one would have even taken a second look at. And that’s what attracted me to this book in the first place. It wasn’t the forbidden feel, it was the fact that I was completely entranced by the underdog (#TEAMBRAX). You go in expecting to love two certain characters but I was drawn to Brax more than Sy. And while I’ll fight all you #SySluts, in the end, I just want Brax happy.
There is so much going on in the Cape Hill world. Virginity’s are taken, sexualities are questioned and loyalties are doubted. It’s an unpredictable story of love, sex, and betrayal. Another aspect that intrigued me was that there isn’t one character in this story who has a set person their hearts are set on. You will have no idea who is going to end up with who because at this stage everybody is just fucking each other. And I swear there were moments where I wanted to reach through the screen and shake the shit out of Leia, Sy and Brax. Like omg, get your fucking shit together guys. The author and these characters are just playing with our hearts at this stage with no care in the world as to if we make it out alive.
I can’t wait for Forevers, which I hear is WORSE. So I don’t know if I’ll survive it because I barely made it out of this one!

Omg bk 2 was explosive hot I couldn’t put this book down this is a continuum of bk 1. The journey these characters take will have you in your feelings. This book will definitely leave you wanting more. I really enjoyed this book great afternoon read.
I loved this so, so much. And even though I knew it was coming, that ending still killed me. Ugh. I’m going to be miserable waiting for the next one!
I’ve always been #TeamSy, and I still am, but if the epilogue is foreshadowing something, I’m all for it!

Just when I think I’ve solved a mystery with this story fifteen more sprout and I’m left sitting like how did my life come to this point?

Literally everything I want to say right now is a spoiler. So I’ll keep this short.
This story is even more insane than Firsts and I thought that book was pretty insane in itself. I was screaming and tearing my hair out by the end of this book because there are so many questions that were answered (and those answers were fucking painful) but then so many other questions popped up and I don’t know what to do with myself anymore.
This story is constant anxiety and heart wrenching emotions but damn if any mofo will stop me from reading more.
Also, that bloody epilogue???????? I need a four months leave to deal with that shit.
It was interesting and good. Had you feeling well what happens next. It went by rather quickly.
OH MY FREAKING GOODNESS!!! FINALLY! I finally got my hands on one of my most anticipated reads of 2018 and let me just tell you all that it was totally worth the wait! C.L. Matthews almost completely destroyed my heart when I read Firsts back in May and I really thought I was prepared for Lasts, but holy moly I was not. For a brief moment I even thought I knew pretty much everything about Silas and Leia…but I absolutely had no clue what the heck was about to happen.
This insanely beautiful forbidden romance got a whole lot hotter with all the new twists and turns thrown our way. There were so many unexpected and OMG moments throughout that I found myself picking my jaw off the ground a few times. This extraordinary raw story had my heart beating right out of my chest and I loved every single moment. Readers finally got to see a new side of Silas and the journey he took that ultimately led him to Leia. These two were meant for each other and yet obstacle after obstacle kept getting in their way. My heart bled for them and I even shed a few tears. I don’t know if my heart will ever be the same again…at least until I get my hands on the Cape Hill series!
