This book breaks my heart every single time!! I don’t know why I keep reread this series. I love it, but it’s the only series I’ve ever read that can make my stomach hurt!!
I fly throug book 1, 2 and 3, don’t get me wrong, those breaks my heart as well. But the way book 3 ends destroy my world. It always takes me month to read book 4, because I just can do it to my self.
Even though I’ve read it before. I can’t read last stance, without pushing it away for month. Because I just can’t see a way where it can end well. And it hurts my heart, it hurts my stomach and I just want to throw the book away for hurting me this way everytime I read it.
I can tell you in words how amazing this series is. I’ll continue rereading it, because it touches my heart every time. I cry, I laugh and I just love and hate it.
I can’t wait to read more from this author.
this book was amazing and PERCEIVING and wonderful
I’m sort of torn when it comes to this book. I absolutely loved the first three books and I really wanted to love this one too. I feel though, that this book doesn’t really follow the other books well. It’s so dark compared to the others and the jokes and funny dialogues are completely missing in this one. I feel that it became a bit too heavy and some lighter mood and more romantic moments could have strengthened the book. The strong personalities is also missing. Instead of a headstrong, compassionate and competitive Ryiah we instead have a depressed, barely keeping it together Ryiah. Sure, her brother died and everything she knew turned out to be a lie, but to constantly read about how she feels guilty and sad about having to play a part and lie to the one she loves kind of takes away from the Ryiah in the former books and makes me feel like I’m reading about someone else. There’s also arrogant, humorous and mysterious Darren who I loved in the first three books. In last stand I see very little of these traits. In fact, I don’t really feel that Darren have much of a personality at all until the end. Since he was my favorite character it was very disappointing.
Still, there were some really great parts as well. Rachel E Carter is an expert when it comes to compelling and drawing in the reader and she has jet to fail. The story still contains the drama, romance, twists, world and character development that made me love the series in the first place. I never expected the series to end in the way it did. I have jet to decide if I like the ending or not, but what I do know is that I hate books or stories in general whit a very predictable end. Carter knows how to twist the story in other directions without losing the red line and her readers. I love unpredictability and mysteries and even though this last book didn’t completely live up to the series in whole, Rachel E Carter is still one of the best authors I know and I’m looking forward to what she will write next!
