An all new standalone novel from Kathryn Andrews, that is a delicious, sweet southern treat of a second chance sports romance.Lexi JarviePie isn’t just a dessert, it’s a way of life. Pies, fillings, jams, jellies, honey, they’re all a part of my award-winning business, Firefly Kitchen. After being left behind, by everyone, I was determined to make it all on my own, and I have. I love what I do, I … love what I do, I love what I’ve created, and I love who I’ve become. Yes, it’s small, but it’s mine, and nothing or no one can stop me now. Not even Bryan Brennen. He may have returned, but it won’t be long before he leaves. And regardless of which way you slice it, some things can’t be forgotten, no matter how sweet the taste.
Bryan Brennen
Football isn’t just a sport, it’s a way of life. I’ve spent more years than I can remember chasing my dream. When you come from nothing, it’s even more important to become something. The unstoppable drive and incomparable determination that is ingrained in me has gotten me to where I am now; twenty-eight years old and undoubtedly the best professional quarterback in the league. To be happy is to be perfect. Plans, plays, passes, I’ve mastered them all, but it was never just for me, it was for her, too. Only she doesn’t know it, and now, ten years later, I’m ready to tell her.
She’s a small town girl. He’s a household name.
Off the field and out of the kitchen, will they break and crumble, or finally get their second chance at the biggest game of them all . . . love.

So where do I with this one? First, is a new “to me” author, and if you follow my you know I love to try new authors. Second, the ¢σνєя of this book is just so ƤƦЄƬƬƳ, and I love me a heroine that bakes. With all those things already ɢᴏɪɴɢ ғᴏʀ ɪᴛ there was a high that this book would be a with me. And…it was. It came close to being a 5 story.
So onto the …it was a well-written book. I loved the with the old house and her pie making business. It was ₩Ɇ ₱₳₵ɆĐ and the story never dragged. The plot was εηgαgιηg. Very sweet. A little h͎e͎a͎r͎t͎b͎r͎e͎a͎k͎i͎n͎g͎ at times. I am not sure I’d call it a true romance since and were never officially together. Although there were fєєℓιиgѕ there on both sides. There was no Ø₩ or Ø₥ drama. Both had been with others during the tєn чєαrѕ αpαrt. However, what a change of pace to have a sports star not be a who was out partying every night. The were hot, but not erotica hot. There was an cast of secondary characters. was a likable hero (mostly) and was a likable heroine (mostly). Last, it was all wrapped up in a sweet ɦαρρყ ƒσ૨ ɳσωเรɦ ending. I am guessing we’ll see this again in the next book since it will feature one of ‘ ex teammates.
So why not 5 ? Two things really. needed to grovel more. A lot more…and needed to be less of a “mᎪᏒᎽ suᎬ.” She let both and her brother (IMO) treat her badly. She fell right into ‘ arms after ten years of ՏíӀҽղϲҽ AND she was the one that after how he treated her near the end. I needed to at least be the one to the heroine to get her back the time. Had that happened then this would have been ą ƈơɱ℘Ɩɛɬɛ ɧıɬ with me.
Andrews’ writing shines in Last Slice of Pie, a charming southern romance with football and food and all my favorite things. I can’t recommend it enough!
This is book #2, in the Starving For Southern series. This story can be read as a standalone novel. For reader enjoyment, and to avoid spoilers, I recommend reading this great series in order.
Lexi is making her way as a small business owner in her small town. She is gaining notoriety for the pies, even though she has always been known for them locally. She has been in love with Bryan all her life, but he does not seem to know she exists anymore. He has not been home in a decade.
Bryan is trying to outrun a past filled with pain and heartache. The best way to do that is to stay away. Football is the one thing he does right, and he does well. It has made him well known and feel as if he is deserving of Lexi. The questions is if he does something about it how will she respond?
This was such an amazing story! Filled with a slow burn, it was like a match lit early on and then somewhere along the way caused the heat to just explode! I loved reading about these characters and their journey. Both very rich and compelling characters as people, watching from my view felt like a privilege. Their book was honestly really good and I could not put this one down.

Last Slice of Pie is a delicious treat! A second chance sports romance that’ll have you believing in love and happily ever afters again, and is the perfect recipe to fully immerse yourself in the story. Every time I re-read this book I’m making it a personal goal to make at least one of the recipes (there’s one at the end of every chapter!)
When you fall in love with everything in a book, you know it’s an amazing book!! This book makes you fall in love with every word. The author has included a few of my favorite things: food, football and family. The way she incorporates all of this creates such emotion, and longing. I loved her characters and immediately fell for the quarterback. He’s one hunky guy!
This book gave me some recipe ideas and made me want to go back the recipes in the book. This part was an amazing addition and completely unexpected. I loved her creativity with this story!!
This story of Lexi and Bryan will steal you heart. It will create emotion you see what they’ve lost in the 10 years and make your heart break and get put back together word by word. The pull between these two was amazing and so well described. This book was a definite 5 star for me!!
