Last Shot is the SIXTH offbeat (and very funny) mystery in the Dev Haskell Private Investigator series. Dysfunctional PI Dev Haskell receives a request from beautiful, red-headed Desi Quinn to investigate the trumped-up charges that ruined her life and sent her to prison six years ago. Desi’s life was destroyed after a brief relationship with upstanding citizen, Man-of-the-Year Gaston Driscoll, … Gaston Driscoll, who just happened to be her boss. She views Dev as her last hope–her last shot–but the impossibly dangerous scenario she describes makes Dev think the investigation would be out of his league; he politely declines.
As Desi’s story slowly unravels, Dev realizes (under a mountain of guilt) that he made a huge mistake. He embarks on a mission to make things right, only to become a killer’s next target. An entertaining tale of intrigue, rank ineptitude, and raucously entertaining one night stands, Last Shot is another funny, fast paced, engrossing thriller from Minnesota’s master of the bizarre.

LAST SHOT gives us more insight into just who Devlin Haskell really is. Yes, he still cracks wise, but he also reflects inward which gives his character more depth. I’ve thought of Dev mostly as a kind of goofball until now. There is a kind of quiet strength and more integrity in him than you might think.
Desi Quinn is a woman wronged. She is not …
I have enjoyed everyone of the books about the dysfunctional frat boy PI Dev Haskell. He reminds me of me and my friends when we were in college. We grew up Dev didn’t; I live vicariously through his exploits.
Very good read…
I have read about 10 of the Dev Haskel series and loved all of them. A great escape.
I love the Dev Haskell character and I always get a laugh as he is such a womenizer, yet he gets the job done on his cases. It’s a fast read and enjoyable.
A fun book. Love the Dev Haskell series. Good story and plot but always entertaining.
Finally, a decent guy who actually has emotions. He doesn’t come across as pompous and he doesn’t have all the answers, but he is willing to try to do the right thing.
I have read 10 books in the series, and thank goodness Dev gets a little (but only a little) smarter as time goes on or the series would have ended several books ago. I read these while sick at home and in the hospital, and found them entertaining and differentiated enough that there was no confusing the books, plots and non-repeating characters.
Another quick fun read from the tales of Dev Haskell by Mike Faricy . Cheers !!
I guess I’m just a cosy mystery girl. this was not my cup of tea!
Just love Dev Haskell!
Started out being interesting, but could not finish
Typical work from this author,I have read all in this series all ok
The book had absolutely nothing to offer. I was hoping to be introduced to a series of enjoyable reading … but I’ll certainly take a pass on the rest.
As always – an enjoyable easy read.
I love the Dev Haskell series!
I love this series. His books are always a good read and do not have predictable plot twists.
It was just “ok”….would not bother to read any of the author’s other books.
