Phil Philips tackles a lot of things in this book and takes us along for the ride. We get our three protagonists back; Joey, Marie and Boyce. The dog tags that Joey found at the end of the last book lead right into this one. He finds out the owner of the tags is in Cairo, but when he gets there he finds out the man has been murdered. Then Joey and Marie find Boyce and off they go on their adventure. There are elements of the Atlantis legend in the story, as well as elements from the old SyFy series “Stargate SG-1.) I found it most enjoyable how everything meshes and I think you will too.
“can you image what he could have hidden down here?” Why do so many digital books substitute image for imagine?!
“Joey fought to keep himself from choking from the vice that was around his neck” Why do so many digital books substitute vice for vise?
Aside from the errors, which I find very distracting, it’s an excellent Egyptian archaeological tale. The suspense especially in the Walk of Souls is superb.
Loved this book, love anything Egypt!
This could have been an Indiana Jones movie. Even the author compares them and their adventures to Indy.
Excellent read
I couldn’t get past the first chapter, as there was no motivation to keep reading and I returned it.
Very interesting if you like the mysteries of Egypt, stories of King Tut and the pyramids, and adventure stories.
It was slow building then wham, the main characters took a beating but never gave up on each other. Definitely a re-read kind of book!
It was fast paced and I read till the end.
Reminded me of Chariot of the Gods. Very good story packed with a lot of action.
I realize that this sort of story requires a certain amount of suspension of disbelief, but this one makes it very difficult. There are things in there, like the use of the metric system to justify the location of objects that are thousands of years older than the metric system, or a very weak explanation on the effects of an EMP, or having a modern city immediately descend into chaos just because the power went out (and no, these are not spoilers to the so-called plot). These things are so jarringly incorrect that it pulls you out to that suspension mode. And the plot is so scattered that it seems like the author couldn’t decide whether to make this a mystery, action-adventure, fantasy or sci-fi and alas, failed at all attempts. Don’t think I’ll be reading any subsequent sequels.
It sure is a roller coast ride and what a ride it is!
This book is a good read. It has you thinking about what will happen next and which character will do it. A good mix of mystery and ancient Egypt.
I liked how the author was so informative about the setting of this book. The characters were interesting.
My type of story. Good characters, action, mystery and I learned a few things.
Enjoyed very much, If you liked Indiana Jones you will get into this story.
Good story with memorable characters. Takes an unpredictable twist at the end!
Interesting plot and interesting characters.
I finished it, but I was skimming through the last half.
Great book from beginning to end.
