Really enjoyed the story!
I love Holly’s flirty banter and fun interactions from family and friends in book one. Young Katelyn stole this story for me. When she and the hero connected, I was a goner. Last Sweet Surrender is a highly enjoyable read and a cute addition to Holly’s series!
This first book in a series gives us Nick and Krissa – both with serious trust issues and with good reason. Not to mention that neither one really knows what they want out of life. Surrounded by a large cast of memorable secondary characters, a dog and some cute kids, the reader is brought along on their journey of self-discovery as they learn to trust their inner voice and make their way towards the all important HEA. Some of the back and forth between these two seemed repetitive and especially with Krissa, I found myself thinking, “What now?!?!?” but overall, it detracted very little from the story. I recommend this book and look forward to reading the next one in the series.
I received a free copy of this book from the author and am voluntarily providing my honest review.
Learning to love even after one tragedy is hard. The characters are believable and the situation is not far fetched to believe in happily ever after for these characters. Thank you for this book
You will enjoy
Holly is a brilliant storyteller who makes her characters genuine and real. A few pages into the book and I struggled to put the book down.
The main characters in the book are Nick and Krissa, both hurt by things that happened in their past. Krissa has been hurt by all men in her life, starting with her dad, and Nick felt the death of his parents at a very young age absolutely devastating.
Buy the book to read the rest of the story, you won’t regret it.
I cannot wait for Holly Cortelyou’s next book .
This is a very entertaining story. Needing a major change in her life, the main female character, Krissa decided to move to a different part of the country. With a fresh start she was ready to start her new teaching job and make some friends with the locals.
Krissa’s character is written with great depth. I enjoy the thinking process that comes to having a conversation with herself. Going over all the reasons she should and shouldn’t follow her gut and/or feelings. I was able to get an understanding of who she is from these insights. The hurt we have goes with us wherever we go. Nick is the owner of the resort and the owner of the house she is renting. She wants to avoid him at all costs. However, he just might be someone she’s pulled to.
Really looking forward to the second book in the series!
This is a great start to the series, setting the scene, introducing a range of characters, and making the reader fall in love with the Colorado mountains. The story itself is fairly light-hearted; this is a “happy” read that leaves the reader feeling better about humanity and life in general. Krissa is likeable, “normal” kind of heroine – she’s been badly hurt, her apprehensions are realistic and understandable. Nick is honest from the start, which is rare in too many romance novels. This is a definite recommend.
I enjoyed reading this book. It is has a beautifully written storyline. The romance, humor, and interaction between the characters kept me totally engaged until the very last page.
New Beginnings
Krista will be doing a new job in Wescott Springs, she is pulling up to the place she is going to rent to see it destroyed by a tree. Nick who is the owner shows up and helps her find someplace to live, his guest house. Now he has big decision to make. And she is looking forward to teaching.
