Birmingham, Alabama, has lost all power. Its streets are jammed with cars that won’t start, its airport engulfed in flames from burning planes. All communications–cell phones, computers, even radios–are silent. Every home and business is dark. Is it a natural disaster . . . a terrorist attack . . . or something far worse? In the face of a crisis that sweeps an entire high-tech planet back to a … back to a time before electricity, the Branning family faces a choice. Will they hoard their possessions in order to survive–or trust God to provide as they share their resources with those around them? Yesterday’s world is gone. Family and community are all that remain. And the outage is revealing the worst in some.
Desperation can be dangerous when a killer lives among them.
New York Times bestselling suspense author Terri Blackstock weaves a masterful what-if novel in which global catastrophe reveals the darkness in human hearts–and lights the way to restoration for a self-centered world.
“Blackstock is absolutely masterful at bringing spiritual dilemmas to the surface and allowing readers to wrestle with them alongside her characters.” —RT Book Reviews, 4.5 stars (of Dawn’s Light)

This four book series started out with a bang! It especially hit home with the world now dealing with the Corona Virus. This is my first time to read this even though it’s been out for a long time.
The world is in a crisis. Planes crashing, cars stalled on the road bumper to bumper, all electricity out, no water, except from lakes and streams, nothing works! Families are having to learn how to cope as if they are 150 years back in time. Crime is rampant. Stealing, murder, pure evil. Food is running out, banks are shut down and the only transportation is on bicycles. Those are being stolen as well.
Several households are featured that live close together. Lives are being changed for the better when the Christians rely fully on God. I’m looking forward to reading the next one, Night Light.
This was a library selection. I was not required to write a review.
Last Light is a book everyone should read. In our world today where everyone is obsessed with material possessions, if all modern-day technology was withheld from us, we would be in the setting of the characters in this book. During this time of sheltering in place from an unknown virus, we discover what it may be like to go back to the basics in life. I enjoyed reading this novel
Love Terri Blackstock
Very thought provoking. Makes you realize how meaningless and destructive much of our business is
Great thought provoking story, especially during this time of self-quarantine during the Covid-19 pandemic!
I liked this book a lot and have just sent for rest of the series.
I loved this book it was easy to see what could happen in those conditions. I plan to read the rest of the series.
When I realized what the premise was for this series, I didn’t think I would like them. I loved them all. The first book got me hooked to buy the rest. Terri Blackstock is such a good writer. She makes the events, emotions, everything so real and thought-provoking. I love the emphasis on developing the characters in their spiritual lives. I definitely recommend this book and the rest in this series.
Good read. Not too difficult to follow and kept my interest.
I like end of our world as we know it books and this was GOOD.
I could not put this book down!
Great book. Hard to stop reading. A real page turner
I read all 4 in the series. Makes you think how much we rely on electricity but also how we need to rely on God for all our needs.
Never read anything like it! Totally engrossed!
Interesting
I read this during our own COVID19 pandemic, so it really helped me to put things in perspective. The characters were dealing with much, much worse conditions than we are, and learned to lean on God for strength. Excellent!
I read this series years ago and was intrigued. I’ve always thought about how we would react if our world was suddenly turned upside down. Now with the Covid pandemic it has. I downloaded this book again recently to reread. Very interesting especially seeing what our world is gone through right now. Great read. Highly recommended.
In light of what has been happening in our world today, it was a look into our future if we do not change.
Riveting
Great Christian read. Very fitting in these COVid-19 times
