Sexy and outrageous humor. –Romantic TimesI know what they see when they look at me. The charming, soft-spoken dragoness bred from the most powerful of royal bloodlines. A disguise stronger than any battle shield that allows me to keep all suitors at tail’s length. A technique that’s worked until him. Until Ragnar the Cunning, handsome barbarian warlord and warrior mage from the desolate … the desolate Northlands. Unlike those who’ve come before him, he does not simply submit to my astounding charm and devastating smile. Instead, he dismisses me as vapid, useless and, to my great annoyance, rather stupid!
Yet I’ll allow no male to dismiss me. Soon he’ll learn my worth, my many skills, and the strength of my will. For this one challenges me enough to make me want to ruthlessly taunt him, tease him and, finally, when the trap is set, bring him to his knees.

Love reading books that make me laugh out loud. And the author never fails to do so. This continues to build this ever expanding world. Sometimes hard to remember everyone’s story but that keeps your mind engaged with the book. So many things going on at once. Each main character getting their HEA. All the characters is outrageous and over the top with just enough reality thrown in to be relatable.
Second time reading this book and series and even after 11 yrs I still think it worth your time and $$.
I think of this as being Machiavelli’s La Princessa meeting King Arthur. The sparks, oh the sparks!! If only I could watch Keira and Ragnar interact in person – that would call for lots of popcorn!
I love these characters! Keira starts out such an airhead until you get to know her. Ragnar is hilarious as he struggles to deal with her until he figures out who she really is under all that ditzy. Recommend this series and definitely this book!
3 stars – I liked it
Ragnar the Cunning is escorting Éibhear home for the twins’ birthday party. What he doesn’t expect is to run into the annoying she-dragon, Kita and end up with her tagging along on the trip. As these two get closer to their family, Ragnar realizes there is more to Kita than she portrays and that she isn’t as innocent as everyone believes.
While I did enjoy this book, I found Kita trying after a while. She is annoying, sneaky, and spoiled, which I know part of it is acting, but it got tiresome at times. She never shuts it off and everything is a game to her. Ragnar on the other hand I really liked. He was smart, deadly, and wasn’t afraid to manipulate the situation to his advantage. He will be good for Kita because he can rein her in some in the future I think.
These two were complete opposites but somehow it worked. What I enjoyed most about this book was the side characters, like Izzy who has become a fierce fighter and I can’t wait to see how she will grow in the future books. I also am glad to see that Annwyl is as fierce as ever and has worked out a way to fight and protect her children. Also her children are fascinating and I can’t wait to see what crazy things they will do in the future.
Overall, this was a good book for the series even if the heroine was a little annoying.
This volume was longer than the others so far I think, or it just felt longer. But not in a bad way, there was a LOT going on in this story! I liked getting to know Keita better. We’ve only ever heard about her before and seen her very rarely, now we get to see what kind of dragon she really is. I ended up liking her quite a bit, but to be honest I think I liked Ragnar even better. The dynamic between Keita and Morfyd was so sisterlike, kind of a “no one messes with my sister but me” mentality which was a bit comical and a bit frustrating. Izzy and Eibhear…I hope we get to see more from them in the next book, that whole situation is making me sad.
This is the second time I’m reading this series.
Keita the Viper and Ragnar the Cunning are thrown together by Keitas mother the Dragon Queen. Ragnar thinks Keita is a vapid royal and Keita hasn’t forgotten being held hostage by Ragner and his people. But now they have to work together to reveal a plot against the queen.
I absolutely adore this series.
I also recommend all the rest of the authors series. G.A. Aiken/Shelly Laurenston
