Eva Hanover hits forty years of age . . . and she has it all . . . a brilliant career, a gorgeous brownstone in Brooklyn, and a sexy husband.
Or, at least, she thought.
In a wink of an eye, Eva’s husband leaves her. She loses the brownstone and throws away her career in a fit of pique. With only the clothes on her back, she flees New York for the sunnier climate of Key Largo.
As Eva puts … Largo.
As Eva puts it, her marriage went south and so does she.
Stuck in Key Largo, it is sink or swim for the devastated Eva. Starting over at forty is hard for anyone, but Eva wonders if she can. Step by step she makes her way back to happiness and possibly finds love again.

A truly delightful read! A romance and a mystery
As always, Abigail Keam delivers a great read.
The story starts out interesting enough. The protagonist (Eva), is dumped by her husband. After her divorce she sets off to find herself and get over her depression. Unfortunately, the plotline quickly becomes stilted and uninteresting, and the narration choppy and mundane. It’s filled with unnecessary and uninteresting detail that does nothing to move the plot. To name a few: we get to go on a car buying trip, and read Eva’s long to-do list. I gave it a chance making it to the 15th chapter then just gave up.
The language was stilted and too formal. I don’t think there’s a single contraction in the entire book. I found the story awkward and lackluster. Opportunities to leave me in suspense were wasted. Ex. He’s observed in a compromising position, she wonders what he’s doing. In the next paragraph, we are told what he’s thinking. I did read the whole thing, though. It was mildly engaging.
Overall I liked it. However it took forever for the plot to actually begin, it was more than a little over the top (character vs character’s actions wise) and the whole thing felt a little too convenient.
Just your average chick-lit book.
Very quick read. Looking forward to reading more books from the series.
I’ve given this 3-stars in an attempt to be fair to this author, but hadn’t cared for this book at all. Sappy, middle-aged romances, with adults behaving like adolescents in middle school, attempting not to appear desperate, or attempting not to feel exposed or foolish and concealing their feelings, is simply of no interest to me. Apart from that, neither character seemed that appealing or interesting, anyway. There wasn’t much depth to the characters, nor anything much apparent that might explain any attraction of one to the other, either. It was more a formula with scant underpinnings to drive the romance of superficial characters who inexplicably fall in love–in effect, the sort of illusion of deluded romance that might result in a quicky marriage and quicky divorce. It might be a story some lonely readers might enjoy, however, since it doesn’t delve deeply into anything, which might make something somewhat silly seem actually possible, I suppose. There isn’t enough to it to satisfy other readers who’d be apt to expect a more plausible plot or story.
It was a cute fast paced and easy to read book.
This was a cute story. Not sure how realistic it was based on how tragic divorce can be and how well people recover. It was a quick read.
