When is violence necessary?
A Federal manhunt is underway across the United States. A sniper has killed three people in three different cities during the last seventy two hours and he’s gone to ground somewhere in Washington D.C. No-one can find him, and riots have erupted on the streets in response to the shootings.
The lead suspect is a police officer.
As the search for the cop intensifies, the violence engulfing the U.S capital means nowhere and no-one is safe, especially the police, who are being targeted by rioters and gangs are making the most of the opportunity and taking over the streets. With the killer on the loose, individuals are taking the law into their own hands. A fourteen year old boy moves through the riot zone, determined to find the killer. A reporter tries to make her way into the city despite the rioting, wanting to get to the suspect before anyone else.
And NYPD Detective Sam Archer arrives in the city visiting family.
Or so it would appear.
In the eighth instalment of the Sam Archer thriller series, the young NYPD cop finds himself drawn into a situation far beyond his control, in a city being torn apart by rioting and violence. Forced to fight or die and to protect others in danger on the streets, his focus is reduced to the absolute, most basic human instinct: survive.
And as long as Archer has breath in his lungs, he can still fight back.

This author checks ALL the blocks for mystery/detective/thriller writers! To see his name on a book is to grab it first, then plan an evening during which I will NOT be disturbed!! Definitely 5 Stars on ALL his books I’ve managed to find!!
Great
Thrillers are not my usual genre to read but I was looking for something different. With this I couldn’t sit back and let the world pass by–I was uptight waiting for the next surprise or catastrophe to happen. It was wearing me out mentally. If you like sitting on the edge of your seat, this is definitely the book for you.
Great murder mystery about Sam Archer’a friend, Ledger, who is accused of committing murder. I couldn’t stop reading.
I like reading this author even thought it is totally unrealistic
This book was a spellbinding work of excellent craftsmanship!
Loved this novel, great suspense; looking to the next release.
A fun read, and only some minor annoyances in the story details stopped me from giving it five stars. For instance, the author refers to the protagonist inserting “clips” into his semi-autos when the correct term is “magazine” (very few firearms use “clips”). But beyond instances such as that, it’s an exciting story along the lines of James Bond and Jack Reacher. I enjoyed it and will be on the lookout for additional Sam Archer escapades.
Good thriller but even former Seals could nit survive so much one after the other. Entertaining, though.
The very beginning of the story keeps you guessing what will really happen. Very enjoyable story. Have read 3 of the Sam Archer series and will read more.
One of the best in this series.
Great Mystery, Can’t put down as holds you riveted.
I enjoyed this book. The first Archer book I read. Looking forward to reading more of them. While some things were predictable, overall this was a page Turner that was full of action and suspense.
This book is full of interesting twists and turns. The writing is intense, and it keeps the reader guessing. There are some editing errors that cause some confusion in parts of the book, but I’ve seen much worse. I would recommend this book!
Hard to put down!
Exciting action throughout. Interesting plot twists.
Couldn’t put it down util I finished!
Great book, even if you’ve never read one of his earlier Sam Archer books.
Action-packed and great characters but kept telling the plot instead of just having the characters live it.
Sam Archer is a great character…..love the books!
