Absolutely fantastic series. I can’t recommend it enough.
I have to say I’m so glad I came across this series, I was looking for something different and this certainly fit the bill with its it’s fun and sarcastic humour.
Bk 1: The Merging
This is a fantastic unit of the paranormal police department. Ian Dex is great character and I love the sarcastic humour from him and his team throughout the story even facing a deadly mage and his demons doesn’t dampen the humour.
I love that it’s the author narrating, he has a fantastic delivery and we get to experience the characters as the author intended them to be.
Bk 2: Grave Creatures
When Ian Dex gets a call about Zombies he thinks his team is playing at prank but nope, that’s not the case. Cue all the graveyard humour from the sarcastic leader of the PPD. My favourite being ‘When it come to cemetery’s I guess people were just dying to get in there’ I love the nick names Ian Dex gives the bad guys, in this book it’s ‘s#it face Fred’ the necromancer.
Bk 3: Blood Bane Tower
Ian Dex and his team need to defeat a dragon queen but before that he’ll need to navigate the 9 circles of hell leading to some hilarious exploits.
This really makes for an awesome audiobook especially with the author narrating.
Bk 4: London Growl
Ian Dex finds himself in London facing his most challenging nemesis so far, The humour never stops though and having sidekicks of a wannabe Sean Connery as 007 and a wannabe Sherlock Holmes makes for an interesting annoyance to Dex.
Bk 5: swarm of fire
An Uber Pixie is the one cause havoc here, the visual is hilarious and the final battle to this story was not what I expected and I have to admit had me chuckling.
I’m loving this series.
Bk 6: curse of fangs
An Uber vampire is causing havoc but on top of that Ian Dex has some personal changes to get to grips with! But with all this weird stuff going on who can he trust. These are great stories but the humour and sarcasm really adds to the enjoyment.
Bk 7: Clash of flames
There’s some revelations in this book that leaves Ian Dex with some tough choices! Along with the drama the humour and sarcasm continues.
The Kevin and the catapult bit had me spitting coffee, it tickled my funny bone, and watch out for how Ian tries to unlock a rune I need more of this author’s wit and delivery. I’ll certainly be looking for my next read by him.
Bonus story: The Bleeding
This story gives us a glimpse of Ian Dex as a trainee in the nether world PPD before he moves topside. a great short story showing up what Dex can do.
Bonus story: The Chief
Ian Dex is 2 years in to his role in the PPD and this story explains the event which led to him becoming chief
Bonus story: Blind Date
Omg, the author/narrator lost it and started laughing at a hilarious point in the story before recovering his composure and continued. I’m glad they left that in.
Ian Dex has a run in with ‘Kidnap Jack’ this leads to some funny interactions between the two. I’m loving Ian Dex and his sarcasm.
An extremely fun and hilarious series
I loved this. It made me laugh so much. Extremely fun and light even with all the excitement and fighting.
