The sole survivor of a train accident, young Larken Burke is dubbed the Miracle Orphan. Four years later, however, her life is far from fortunate. Because of her emotional and physical scars, she believes she’s un-marriageable. With little hope for the future, she agrees to wed a gentleman she’s never met. Unfortunately, his aloof manner proves difficult to take.
Marked by romantic tragedy and … tragedy and the loss of his brother, Brandon King has forsworn marriage. Obliged to take in a ward, he advertises for a mail-order bride to raise the boy. Since the union is to be a marriage in name only, his criteria are youthful age, a certain level of intellect, good breeding, and that the girl shouldn’t be so ill-favored she would embarrass him in society. To his dismay, he gets more than he’d bargained for.
Will it take a miracle for Mr. and Mrs. King to fall in love, or is their marriage another accident waiting to happen?

This is one of the first books I’ve read by this author and it is one I have re-read. Such a wonderful, hopeful, romantic story!
In Larken, a new Victorian Romance audiobook by Suzanne G. Rogers, a young girl sets off on a trip to London with her parents, only to wind up in a horrible train wreck. The only survivor, Larken is dubbed by the media the “Miracle Orphan” and sent to live with foster parents, who use her. As soon as she comes of age, they marry her off to the first man they can find. Brandon King.
All evidence states that Brandon is a spoiled, arrogant man. He’s agreed to marry Larken, but he really seems to want her more as a governess for a ward he’s taken in. But Brandon has scars of his own, still reeling from the death of his twin brother. When Larken finds the brother’s portrait in the attic, it sets off a mystery of the brother’s death. But things aren’t always as they seem. Is happiness around the corner for both? Or more heartache? You’ll have to read to find out.
I actually partook of Larken from the audiobook. All the same, I enjoyed the story very much, loved narrator Stevie Zimmerman’s charming inflections and portrayal, especially, of Miles. If you like historical romance with a hint of intrigue, do check Larken out.
I think I’ve found my new favorite historical author. Enough intrigue to keep me reading. Enough of a love story to make it interesting. An actual original story with a twist. Wonderful!
A lovely story, easy, light and with an interesting and happy ending, you want to read more.
I liked this book very much. Liked the characters and the story was surprising at times. A sweet, easy read. A comfort read, no cursing and no vulgar sex scenes. Just a feel good story.

Loved this book!
Lovely book with delightful characters. Quick read. Will read others by this author.
Such an enjoyable sweet story based upon tragedy which left this beautiful young woman scarred and all she was left to endure on her own until the love of a young boy and eventually his uncle brought much joy and love back into her life.
Enjoyed reading this book.
Great plot with lots of twists and turns – really kept my attention. I really enjoyed the whimsical nature of our heroine and her imaginary friends, and how little boys and big boys are captivated by her!
I enjoyed reading this book.
I thought the characters were well developed and the story was different. There was still romance but it was more subtle and allowed the story to come through. I didn’t want to put the book down
Highly Enjoyable page turner

Larken is the sole survivor of a train accident where both of her parents parishes. She is called the Miracle Orphan. The way she survived in the time before marrying is very enlighten. She excepts an advertisement for a mail-order-bride to raise a ward and live in name only with her husband. Her husband is a man who wants nothing to do with her and is very harsh. He is plagued by the loss of his brother. He feels guilty and haunted by his loss. Larken finds a way to reach her husband and solve his heartache.
A bit of fluff. It starts uniquely, but quickly dilutes into a traditional Regency. There is a bunch of melodrama that turns out to be only sound and fury. It’s cute and has three Regency tropes see if you can guess them.
