There ought to be a law that Gabe Shaw – hippie lumberjack, Viking with a man bun – should never be allowed to hold tiny infants against his broad, muscular chest.Celebrity makeup artist Josie Torres has three rules when it comes to men: No spending the night. No second dates. No falling in love. Her rules protect her still-healing heart and leave Josie free to chase her true love: the electric … true love: the electric nights of Los Angeles.
But when she arrives in funky, bohemian Big Sur for a photo shoot, those rules are no match for the small town’s sexy bar owner.
Gabe Shaw has a good life in Big Sur. Surrounded by family and friends, he’s the third-generation-owner of The Bar, the only place where quirky locals can escape the tourists and drink in peace. He’s in love with his hometown and its verdant beauty, but he still yearns for one thing: his soul mate.
After one night of searing passion, Josie intends to run… like she always does. But a storm as strong as their attraction unleashes on Big Sur, leaving her trapped.
Gabe has the funniest feeling he’s found what he was missing. But it’s only been a week – and the last person that made Josie feel this much destroyed her world.
She can’t—she won’t—make the sacrifices Gabe is asking her to make.

Kathryn Nolan’s prose is delicate and confectionary in one perfectly placed phrase, then pulsing, pounding and vibrant in the next. In the bedroom, she steps outside the box, lending LANDSLIDE a not-to-be-missed unique, refreshing sensuality. I was hooked from page one!
I am in love with this story, the characters, and Big Sur. I want to move there like right now.
Gabe may be a contender for book husband, never mind book boyfriend. A big man with an even bigger heart who only wants to give it to someone. Josie is a jaded woman hurt so badly she thinks love isn’t for her, and even though she can’t admit it, Gabe is changing her mind. The connection they had and the off the charts hot sex scenes kept me glued to every beautifully written word. 5 wholehearted stars!
Kathryn Nolan weaves a hypnotic tale, one that’s full of delicious tension, heart filled relationships between characters that feel real enough to touch and poetry on every page.
Expansive and Inspiring!
Landslide by Kathryn Nolan is poetic, thought provoking, emotional, sexy, and glorious. Her words and her characters are vibrant, pulsing, and powerful. This is a brilliant love story about self discovery and acceptance. The kind of love that starts with loving and trusting yourself.
Josie is a beautiful, sexy woman. She is funny and loyal and independent. A past relationship battered her spirit and her heart. So now she is determined to focus on her independence and her career. One night stands are all she allows herself to have. No dating or relationships. No exceptions!
Gabe is hard working, loyal, kind, strikingly handsome and a romantic. He IS Big Sur! Rugged, in tune with nature, and genuine. He is happy, yet he longs for a partner to share his life.
The moment Josie and Gabe see each other, there is a current that draws them together. The attraction is intoxicatingly sexual. However, it doesn’t stop there. They connect on an emotional level, as well. Their souls simply understand/recognize one another and that bond is fierce. The banter they share is easy and funny. The sex is intense and erotic. Despite the ardent connection they share, they still want two completely different things. This is where the hard work begins. How do two souls that are so intwined learn to bend and compromise and expand their horizons? Josie and Gabe’s journey will give you all the feels. You will swoon, laugh, cry, and hope. As Josie and Gabe find there footing, they must navigate with trust, communication, and compromise. Your heart and your mind will expand with joy.
Without a doubt, Landslide is one of my top reads of 2018. I love the fact that Mrs. Nolan’s books make me not only feel, but think. Her stories expose readers to diverse characters and unconventional male/female roles. Different is not wrong or bad. Different is unique and special. We are all different, but we share common human threads like fear, self doubt, love, hope, and bravery. Our ability to be empathetic and compassionate to one another is one of life’s most beautiful gifts.
Kathryn Nolan takes us back to Big Sur, oh how much I missed Big Sur. Landslide is a standalone and can be read as a such, but I would suggest you read Bohemian first (it’s on Kindle Unlimited), so you can get a taste of Big Sur and meet Lucia and Cal. This of course is Gabe and Josie’s story.
Gah, who wouldn’t want a 6’3” Viking sporting a man bun? And who doesn’t love a hot fiery Latina like Josie. So their meet cute is one for the ages. Gabe is the owner of The Bar in Big Sur, Josie is the makeup artist to Lucia. The instant Gabe and Josie locked eyes, well call the fire department because it was that hot, and then the conversation during, it was a 5 alarm fire.
And would you even think that this big burly dude is a hopeless romantic? That he wants what his parents have, his siblings have in their relationship? Yes, he really does. Josie, she’s the “wham bam thank you man” and run type, after her last relationship, she has not time nor the fortitude for lovey/dovey, or so she thought! I just wanted to cuddle up with Gabe and at times shake Josie. Look, I totally get where she was coming from. This couple were both stubborn if I am going to be honest.
I loved seeing Cal and Lucia. I loved the friendship Gabe had with Cal and Josie had with Lucia. #FriendshipGoals!
This is my second Kathryn Nolan book, like Bohemian, I felt captured by Big Sur and even East Los Angeles. I really was swept away by the romance of Big Sur and the captivating chemistry between Gabe and Josie. As mentioned above, you can read this as a standalone and will not be lost, but do yourself a favor and read Bohemian too and all the books Ms. Nolan has written.

5 STARS
Written in first person from an alternating dual POV, this is a stand alone with a HEA. It does overlap timelines with this author’s book Bohemian. You will want to read both even if you don’t need to for each book.
I read Bohemian in November of 2018. Why I did not immediately jump into this, I’m not sure, except I was preparing to move cross-country. So, maybe that was it. I really regret waiting so long. I adored Bohemian and this book is also amazing. The author does an excellent job creating characters who feel real. Gabe and Josie’s HEA takes work. I love that they decide to go for it. Gabe is a hero I fell hard for. Josie is a complete bada$$ and I loved her character. This book packs some serious heat. (Have ice water on standby.) Well-developed main and secondary characters, a love story that is a bit unique, and a small town that I want to live in: this book offers lyrical writing as the characters allow themselves to be vulnerable and trust each other. I honestly cannot recommend this book or author enough. She is a definite one-click for me.
Josie and Gabe – its a wow type of story! The story is complex, yet raw and honest. My heart broke for Josie and Gabe as they feel for wach other then found a way to be together. I loved their honesty so much in this book! Josie is strong yet broken. Gabe just wants to love her. This book is a story of compromise and honesty and how to always trust yourself first. It’s ok to put yourself first, even when it hurts. But when you find that someone- how to create a forever!
This is what Kathryn Nolan writes about in this beautiful book! It’s a favorite of mine for sure!
Landslide by Kathryn Nolan is a steamy, contemporary romance told in dual POV. This is the first book that I’ve read by the author and it definitely will not be the last because I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was beautifully written with diverse, well-developed characters and lush, vibrant descriptions of Big Sur and L.A. bringing life to each page.
Josie and Gabe are complete opposites in every way, but when they meet they have an immediate, undeniable chemistry. Their connection is not only physical, but also intellectual and emotional. But both of them are stubborn and want different things out of life. Can they make a relationship work while staying true to themselves at the same time? You’ll have to read to find out.
I absolutely loved Gabe and Josie’s story. It was a rich, delicious feast for the senses and I highly recommend it.
This beautiful story is the reason I read romance books. When authors give you genuine characters like these two & explore sexuality in an honest and original way I am hooked. I read this one twice. First I binged it, then I savoured it.
Gabriel “Gabe” is the kind of BBF you dream of. Viking handsome but with the perfect blend of alpha & kindness/self awareness.
Josie is the beautiful, but damaged firecracker. Put them together and you get chemistry that may cause your kindle to combust. There were heartbreaking moments, hilarious moments and also some of the hottest scenes I have ever read. Anyone who says consent can’t be sexy is so very wrong. I absolutely loved this story and it’s going straight into my Favourites of 2018.
I knew I was going to love Landslide because I love every word KN writes, but her latest is no exception as the return to Big Sur did not disappoint. As always, Kathryn’s characters are well developed, the story is thoughtful, emotional, and just the right amount of sexy. She was able to deliver a HEA that feels true to Gabe and Josie’s character and their love story without it being overdone which I really appreciate.
Landslide is the best kind of book… it ends leaving you wanting more and really makes you hope to find your soulmate out in the world. I absolutely recommend reading this book!
I’m in love with this book!!! I have been in a book funk forever and this was just what I needed. Nolan is beyond talented. Lyrical and sexy is a hard combo to concur and she has it all!!
Gabe and Josie are looking for different things in a relationship. Gabe is ready to settle down and get married, have children, all of it! Josie, on the other hand, was deeply hurt in a previous relationship, and now she only does one night stands. Josie doesn’t plan on Gabe and the chemistry between the two of them.
I loved this book! The difficult process of two very stubborn people, trusting each other completely, learning how to be your true self, and making room for a special person is all written so beautifully. Along the way, there’s hot sexy scenes, anticipation, lots of laughter, tears and hugs. This is one you don’t want to miss!
I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
Gabe and Josie are the most unique and interesting couple I’ve read this year. Josie is purple hair, tats, leather & big city. Gabe is man-bun, lumberjack plaid, Viking giant, forest hiking, small community.
The story unfolds with all their opposite stuff highlighted at every turn, from how they love (or not) to how they live. Even how their relationship unfolds. First hot and fast, then a slow smolder that builds intensity. <—my favorite part! And that’s why the ending to their beautiful story is absolute perfection for them. They simply couldn’t be any other way. *I highly recommend reading Bohemian first, to avoid any Lucia&Cal spoilers. You’ll love it! I promise!
Amazingly, it hasn’t even been a year since I discovered an author who quickly soared to the top of my favorites list. When I read Riptide, I didn’t think there could be anything better. Then Bohemian came and I was sure that nothing would ever top it. But Landslide is the most beautiful, unexpected book I’ve ever read. It has everything that I have come to expect from Kathryn Nolan: so much heat, connection, and the feeling that I was in Big Sur right beside Gabe and Josie.
I don’t think I will ever have the words to do this book justice. I loved it. I want to read it again and again until I have seen and felt every detail. I am so glad that what was supposed to be a novella ended up being a full length novel because, even then, I never wanted the story to end. I have absolutely fallen in love with Gabe and Josie and I hope this isn’t the last I get to see of them.
I have had friends tell me time and time again that I need to read Kathryn Nolan. Well, this time when I saw she had a new release I made sure to move it to the top of my TBR and I am so glad that I am! Her writing is incredible!
The details to the story and character were perfect. I loved getting into Josie and Gabe’s head to see exactly where each of them were coming from. Both had been hurt by prior relationships, but where Josie didn’t want to have another relationship, Gabe couldn’t wait to find his person. Gabe’s character completely surprised me by what he craved in a physical relationship. It was perfectly worked into his character and the story and I absolutely fell in love with him. So alpha, yet such a need to please and care for the person he loved with his whole heart. Josie had been hurt so badly that she didn’t want to move forward, but Gabe was able to give her exactly what she needed to open that door to a future.
The writing was hot and the story was so good! I loved how the forest became its own character in the story with the important role that it played in the story hence the perfect cover!! I will definitely be heading to Ms. Nolan’s backlist! Great read!
Compromise
My words don’t do justice to the fabulousness that is Kathryn Nolan’s latest book Landslide. She has a way of capturing the ideal setting in Big Sur, California – the only setting I’ve ever truly wanted to pack up all my things and visit!!; a way of writing characters that become like friends and family; a way of writing a story that seeps into your soul and takes up residence there for the long haul. I became enamoured with all of what I just described when I read Bohemian last year and knowing we would be going back there when Josie and Gabe’s story was written was the perfect way to end what was one of my top reads of 2017. And here I am, having read their story, having been lost in the beauty of Landslide and – again – I have the biggest book hangover after Kathryn took me on a journey that felt so real I refuse to truly believe that these characters don’t really exist somewhere out there.
In so many ways Gabe and Josie are much like Cal and Lucia are in Bohemian. Two very different people from two very different worlds. And the majority of both their stories happen concurrently which makes it even more unique and special. But Gabe and Josie differ in ways that are unparalleled to their best friends. Josie has been through hell when it comes to love and the walls she has built around her heart are thick, high and seemingly unbreakable. She lives and breathes and loves the city of Los Angeles where she works, where her family is, where she feels most at home. And in the other hand, Gabe is the epitome of Big Sur – he runs The Bar, his family have lived in this isolated coastal town for generations, his loves the people, the forest setting, The Big Sur Channel of gossip. He never wants to leave. But one night, one unexpected connection between these two opposites, and something is sparked that neither of them is ready for, neither of them expects, and it’s going to rock both their worlds…
Kathryn writes like no other author who I love. Her words are like the poetry she quotes. Her characters are so vivid I feel like I know them. The worlds she creates in her stories are places I desperately want to visit. And Landslide is her best work yet. From the first page to the last. From a conclusion I didn’t see coming but was more thrilled than I could have ever expected. This book is a MUST READ for everyone!! And then pick up Bohemian and read it too because you can’t have Gabe and Josie without Cal and Lucia.
Landslide is one of my top reads for 2018 and I’m giving it my highest every ranking of 6 hearts (it’s my ranking so who cares if technically it’s impossible, when I created it I can rewrite the rules!!). It’s April and I don’t care. I’m calling it now because no book will affect me like this one. I know it. If you read nothing else this year, read Landslide … you will not regret it.

This book spoke to me in so many ways, my first book from this author and I absolutely love it:
* The storyline is good and the author has a writing style that has the story flowing in a way that makes it easy to read.
* Josie and Gabe has a connection from the beginning and it’s written in a way that spoke to me so clearly that I almost laughed and cried when I recognised it.
* No unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and dialogues that made the story even more intriguing. Gabe’s secret desires was a very welcome change from the books I normally read.
* The main characters personalities did not correspond with their looks and that was a twist I enjoyed very much.
* I felt that the story was realistic and so was the characters.
* I could relate to the feelings Gabriel has for walking in nature, that his mind got clearer and it calmed him.
* The love scenes, omg…..the love scenes was amazing, sweet, hot, rough and most of all unexpected……wow!!!!!!!
This author is on my TBR list and I have to read the rest of her books.
5 twisted stars
I absolutely loved this book. I also love Kathryn Nolan’s writing. She does an amazing job at bringing the characters and location to life. I feel like I personally know Gabe, Josie and the whole Big Sur channel. I wasn’t sure at first that Gabe and Josie were going to work it out, but they did. And in such a very unique way. I will gladly read Kathryn Nolan books always!
Landslide (Josephine and Gabriel’s story) is interconnected with Bohemian, (Calvin and Lucia’s story) but can be read alone.
Makeup artist, Josie, has spent two years battling the inner securities and demons from her ex and is now stranded in Big Sur after a storm. Her character is struggling to find control and confidence in her life once again.
Gabe tends a bar passed down through the generations of his family and is looking for a soulmate. He just may be the most atypical hero ever, and I love him even more because of it.
The characters are very well developed. Big Sur, the primary setting for the story, captivates the senses as if I were transported there myself. Kathryn so skillfully and poetically created this beautiful place with characters that you can’t help but root for. This story is fraught with inner turmoil, desire, passion, friendship, soul-deep connection, fear, longing, and finally love. Landslide has won my heart.
Just when I thought I couldn’t love Kathryn Nolan any more, just when I thought she couldn’t create a steamier scene, or a more memorable couple – she does it AGAIN!
Landslide gives us the complete, beautiful story of Gabe and Josie. We are briefly introduced to them in “Bohemian” but Nolan thought we needed more and boy was she right.
Two scared and opposite souls find one another in the most picturesque setting you can imagine. Both have a past of lost love and they are both looking for something completely different when paths cross. Can Gabe and Josie be the piece that helps complete the other ones puzzle?
Throughout Landslide, Nolan builds a delicious tension that is as good as the steamy scenes themselves. We learn about lost love, the process of recovering from heartbreak, and the internal power struggle of learning to trust again.
Landslide surpassed all of my expectations. I couldn’t get enough of it. Nolan gets better with each book! She proves that she really is the master of the slow burn romance.
Enjoy friends – I’m off to start on it all over again!
