HATHAWAY HOUSE Lance – 12Welcome to Hathaway House. Rehab Center. Safe Haven. Second chance at life and love. Lance Mayfair sought out Hathaway House at the recommendation of a friend, who told him it was an answer to prayer. Lance knows more about prayers than answers, but, if he can see progress in one particular area of his life and health, it will be worth the effort and the pain. He’ll do … the pain. He’ll do anything he can to play music again. It’s all he has left now that his days as a Navy SEAL are over and, with them, any chance of a happy, productive life.
However, the shoulder injury that ended his career pretty much guarantees he’ll never play his beloved instruments ever again.
Unless Hathaway House and Jessica can work a miracle.
Jessica has worked with many patients at Hathaway House, but she connects with Lance in a way she didn’t with any of the others. She can see the need inside him—his desire to create again, to heal through music. And his goal becomes her goal: to see him play music in his soul again.
Only his music isn’t all he wants or needs, and making him happy goes a long way to making her happy, but it’s not enough. Both want and need so much more.

Lance by Dale Mayer
Hathaway House Series Book Twelve
Lance Mayfair thinks his friend Iain is pulling his leg. He’s always been a jokester, and now he’s sending him photos for his supposed rehab. It hardly looked like the same man. Even so, Lance goes ahead and fills the application out for Hathaway House with the hope that it is real and that maybe he can improve.
Jessica Marlow is a nurse at Hathaway House. She loves her patients and seeing them improve. None of them have affected her like Lance, though. Too often, she finds herself wondering how his day is going or how he’s doing.
Lance had his good days and bad days, but thanks to a gift Jessica gave him…he starts to slowly see that he may have a future doing something he used to love. Now, it’s up to him on moving forward for his healing…and more. I love this series.

This is wonderful story that I really enjoyed reading. The characters are well developed and captivating. It is well written and has enough drama and romance to keep your interest until the very end. I can recommend as a joy to read.
This is Lance and Jessica’s story! Lance has been injured and believes he will never play music again. Jessica’s job is to bring him back and help him see his dreams come true. The result is that both find their dreams in each other. Hathaway House is an awesome place for torn war heroes to recover and find new lives. The stories are heartwarming and so fulfilling! This is a wonderful addition to this charming series about our wounded warriors. I so enjoyed this story that I hated to see it end but it ended on a great note. Looking forward to the next one!!!!
Lance comes to Hathaway House to recover from his life-changing injuries that he sustained in the war. There he meets Jessica, a nurse fairly new to Hathaway House. These two grow close as Lance recovers. Jessica tries to steer Lance back to his love of music when she hears how much he loves it.
This was a heart-lifting story that took me on a great bookcation from everyday life. I thoroughly enjoyed having this in my favorite dual POV format. It really helps me to identify and understand the character better to see their thoughts while in a given situation.
This is a clean romance that really anyone would enjoy. Also while this story is a part of a series, this can be read as a stand-alone.
The Hathaway House series has been wonderful from Book #1. “Lance” continues in that catagory. Something that Dale added with this book is the healing and uplifting powers of music. I absolutely loved reading how music touched Lance and the others in the book. Great read.
I loved this book! The characters were awesome and the story line was amazing! Love the thought of having a Hathaway House in real life! Our veterans deserve so much more and as shown in this series something like this would be awesome! Know it is fiction but also know it’s wishful thinking that we could do something as wonderful as Hathaway House for our vets!

Lance comes to Hathaway house at the recommendation of his friend, like all the men before touting the amazing miracles, that occur there. But after so many tries and failures, it’s hard to believe it possible! And while Lance did have physical injuries, that needed rehab, his creative side took a hit as well. Lance, turns out is quite the musician. There’s not an instrument he couldn’t play and he will miss returning to the stage Jessica works at Hathaway House, and in it’s way it also saved her. Lance is one of patients, and she see’s he needs more. Once she figures out what it is, nothing will stop her, well except Lance. But the gifted guitar was a start. These stories are the best!
I really like how with each book the characters are so different in some series this is hard to do but not this one, Lance really struggles not just when he first arrives but for longer which worries not just him but everyone. Healing isn’t just a physical process but also mental which these books are very good at showing and seeing Lance realise that and learning what works for him is just wonderful to see, all thanks to Jessica. Lance gets to show Dani and others that something new might be just what they need to add at Hathaway House to help the men and women staying there. The scene at the Blues House was so sweet and fun and left me smiling so much and then the teaser for the next book well that had me clapping like a little girl to see who is next up!

Hathaway House is a special place that provides the type of inside and outside healing that wounded warriors need.
The patients come from a world of strength & action, but injuries have left them fighting weakness, pain & insecurity.
The caregivers provide an extraordinary amount of healing for both the physical and emotional trauma of their patients, while they also deal with their own issues.
It was the positive results of wounded brothers in arms that brought Lance to Hathaway House, though he did not have much hope for himself. Then he met his nurse, Jessica, who was not blinded by doubt and who would not give up on him.
With the nurturing staff, the beautiful setting among green pastures and more strength than he knew he had, could a good life still lay ahead? Could there be both healing and happiness?
Open the door to Hathaway House to feel the magic that surrounds Lance, Jessica and all the characters within.

Another broken soldier Lance, enters Hathaway House to get close to normal as possible. A nurse, Jessica, is in charge of him and caring feelings start pretty quickly. It’s a quiet story of a broken man putting himself together both physically and mentally while realizing his lifes loves.
Go Lance!
An uplifting addition to the wonderful Hathaway House series! Lance has difficulties just sitting without debilitating pain. With various adjustments to his physical therapy plan of care, along with a major amount of blood, sweat and yes, tears, Shawn helps Lance accomplish his unexpected goal of sitting and even walking without the use of his crutches.
Jessica provides Lance an innocent gift as a integral tool which ignites Lance with the spark to regain his mobility and his love of music.
I found this story to be very heartfelt and uplifting for someone with Lance’s injuries and the gift he keeps hidden thinking he’s lost the ability to enjoy it. The dedication and complete support by the staff at Hathaway House give Lance the much needed confidence to go above and beyond his immediate goals of learning how to walk and function with little or no pain. They have given him back his passion and his life can only get better!
Sweet and heartwarming, this is the ultimate success story!
The Hathaway House series by gifted author Dale Mayer is one of my favorites and “Lance” is an uplifting and heartwarming read and perfect addition with characters you root for and a beautifully written story that kept me entertained and engaged from beginning to end. I loved the attraction and dynamic between Lance Mayfair who longs to play music again and Jessica Marlow, a nurse at the rehab center. If you enjoy sweet reads about a safe haven and second chance at life and love don’t miss “Lance” book twelve in this must-read series. I received an advance reader copy of this book from Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Another sweet read by this author featuring Lance, who ends up at Hathaway House to recover from his injuries and Jessica, a nurse at the house. The two hit it off right away and Jessica helps Lance get settled into his new routine and his road to recovery. She discovers that he has a love for music and in a kind gesture buys him a guitar. Lance isn’t so sure if he can play anymore, his injuries may prevent him but he wants to get back into it and with the help from everyone at Hathaway, he may just get there.
A sweet read with no drama, no secrets, and no others coming between. A story of strength, courage, perseverance and love as one of the navigates their limitations and new life and the other standing beside them and encouraging them, being their number one cheerleader.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
This series keeps on entertaining us. Hathaway House, I wonder if places like this exist. What an example of positive healing it offers.
Lance is our latest injured hero trying to get his life and body back together. Miserable and feeling at a standstill his mates encourage him to come.
Jessica, a nurse there catches his eye. Chemistry is there and their connection sweet.
The power of healing for Lance was music, I wished I could hear it. Beautiful story, wonderful characters and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
This was a beautifully sweet read. Lance may be my favorite now. Grab this book and follow along on a journey that keeps you consumed.
When Ian sends Lance pictures of his recovery, Lance was sure they had been photoshopped. He couldn’t believe the difference between the man he knew here and the one in the photos. Even Jaden was encouraging hm to go to Hathaway House, both man swore it would make all the difference in the world.
The journey definitely took a toll on him, as has been the case with every one we’ve met in these books so far. It seems to me that Lance is perhaps a little more aware of the things that could hold him back.
His set back comes in the form of anemia and an infection, not a mental one as we’ve seen before. Jessica his nurse has been very watchful of him. She’s drawn to him on a level she doesn’t quite understand. In one of their conversations he mentioned music was a hobby, one he made money from before he went into the service. He also mentioned the guitar as one of the instruments he played.
On one of her trips into town Jessica spots an old guitar, it wasn’t expensive and she has it tuned and leaves it for him while he’s sleeping.
Music brings Jessica and Lance closer, but not all the current residents are happy about it. Dani reaches a compromise and sets a schedule for him to play. Shane notices that work would need to be done to enable Lance to continue playing the various instruments he obviously loves and takes on that challenge.
We get to see Stan and Robin from the Vet clinic and the puppies that need to be bottle fed as well as the horses and of course Max the cat that seems to think he owns the place.
There was quite the surprise in this book, for both Hathaway House as a whole and Jessica. One that really shows how very different each and every journey is.
This is another beautiful story of recovery, romance and new beginnings. I truly can’t wait to read the next book in this series!
Another sweet story from Hathaway house. Lance is the next patient to be booked in for Hathaway House and professionals to do their thing. Lance is a broken man and feeling it for a while as his body copes with the last of his surgeries, anaemia and medical problems. Jessica is the nurse who is high on life and wants her patients to do well. They have an attraction towards each other until Lance feels like he is being pushed due to musical abilities and then he goes quiet.
I loved these two together. They were so needed for each other. I can’t wait for the next book. I want Shane and Dennis to get heir HEA.

Lance is the latest seriously injured soldier who checks into Hathaway House. Hathaway House is a rehabilitation center that is the ideal rehab center for any injured soldier because it has the best of everything.
Lance’s nurse, Jessica, takes a special interest in him as soon as he arrives. She is worried because she discovers that he is unusually lethargic and shaky and very depressed. She keeps a close eye on him.
Meanwhile, Jessica discovers that Lance is very interested in music. He is a musician, but has been unable to play any instruments since his injury. She decides to buy Lance a guitar and encourages him to play again. This is the miracle that motivates him to work harder at his rehabilitation instead of giving up.
This series is not a romantic suspense like her other series. Instead, the author uses it to personalize the reality of a seriously injured soldiers’ life. She also honestly illustrates the strength they need to endure the great pain it takes to heal. This author pays homage to these men and women who overcome unimaginable injuries who are eventually able to return to their normal lives.
Of course, in the end, Jessica and Lance get their “happy ever after.” And Lance is able to return to his life as a musician.
This series gets better and better. Lance has lost his heart and soul. He served his country and was severely injured to the point he thought he would never ever be who he thought he was. He was convinced to try Hathaway House. Of course the photos of his buddy Iian had to have been photoshopped. No way was that his buddy. Lance meets Jessica and falls for her bright red hair and infectious smile. She runs full tilt after what she wants and he hates change. He wants to see the path ahead and plan for it. She just charges on and doesn’t stop. When she discovers he loves to play music, she just wanted to encourage him. Who knew?

Another awesome healing success of Hathaway House. Lance doesn’t just have physical injuries, but some serious emotional insecurities. Jessica is one of the nurses assigned to his care when she discovers his love for music . Buying a second hand guitar starts Lance down a path to healing and the two of them on a path to true love .
