Kate McAdams was forced six years ago to leave her beloved hometown of Willow Valley, leaving behind her family and the only man she’s ever loved, Marc Caliendo. Although she has created a new life for herself away from the drama, secrets and stress of the small town, she must return upon her grandmother’s death. Her return brings back wonderful memories, especially of Marc, but also horrible … fears from the past.
When fate throws her and Marc together once again, how can they ignore the everlasting love and desire between them? Will Kate stay and face her demons or will the deceit and secrets of the past destroy any future they may have and force her to leave again?
This book can be read as a stand alone, but for more enjoyment read them in the order of the series, as all the characters appear in future books.
Note from the author: This is a small town, second chance, happily ever after with loving sweet snarky sisters and a rich billionaire hero with a fake marriage.

I really enjoyed it
It was okay
For me, most of the things I disliked about this book revolve more around reader preferences. I prefer my books to have a lot more steam. This book had practically zero steam. I also prefer my characters to be a little more sparky. Kate was definitely on the sassy side, but Marc was pretty straight laced.
With that said, I do think there were some serious issues with the ages of the sisters. There are a few circumstances discussed where it’s had to actually get a handle on when events took places because with the information provided, the timeliness don’t fit. I also really struggled with Kates constant the world is going to end if I tell him attitude. Now granted, there was an additional twist I didn’t see coming, but it still got old fast.
So anyway, it was a quick read and for the most part was enjoyable.
This is one of those love stories that you live while reading. Right from the years they were children, playing together even though they came from different social situations, until they met again as adults trying not to relive the hurt and anger at the sudden parting of ways without explanation 6 years previous the story keeps its hold and weaves its mystery, keeping its hold over the reader.
All of the characters throughout this book are extraordinarily well thought out and each plays a part in the complicated world of business, family and love. Not once does the plot lose direction and the reader is kept spellbound – each page increasing the need to know the full truth behind the actions that caused so much distress to so many people. This definitely has the capacity to bring tears to the eyes and the need to keep following the families lives held within these pages.
An adult read that is most certainly one I would recommend to any romance lover.
The plot was a little twisted, but the ending was good.
Loved it! Wonderful characters and twists!
A story of Kate returning to her hometown for a funeral. She had never planned to return home. Six years ago, Kate left behind her family and her boyfriend Marc and took with her secrets that she could not imagine sharing with her family or Marc. In time she resolved these issue and found trust and love. As this is the first book in the series, there are more stories to read about is family.
Story was somewhat confusing and mixed up. Too much subterfuge.
Kate and Marc were parted when they should have been making a life together now they get their second chance. Their story is sweet and sad and full of emotion. This story shows that sometimes life is not just black and white, there are shades of grey that determine the choices you make, but it does have a happy ending.
Kept my interest from beginning to end witj a secret twist
I liked the characters and storyline. The main character, Kate and Marc were able to work through a difficult past. Also I like the family support each of them rexeived.
A beautiful written novel, was hard to put down. Was a sweet loving story, yet serious, but by what we also found out that our main characters,It would either make them or break them. I loved the novel and looking forward to reading the next book.
Loved story
God book
Many grammatical errors and predictable, but unbelievable. Poor justification for actions. Only reason to continue reading was to make a game out of how many errors there were.
Good read!!
Terrific
Kate had to come home after being gone for six years to help her family bury their grandmother. Marc was Kate’s one true love, he came from money she didn’t. He wasn’t suppose to be there. She was suppose to be bringing her cheating ex. But can they work out their past.
What a great way to start a series. Layer by layer and chapter by chapter q Ms. Leah slowly unfolds the many secrets in this book. There’s no denying the love shared by Kate and Marc. After suddenly leaving town six years earlier, Kate returns for her grandmother’s funeral. Marc is now in charge of the Caliendo Resort. When they suddenly run into each other, instantaneous attraction is felt by this reader; however, the author expertly threw in many twists and turns throughout the book. Will the secrets keep their families apart? Will they be doomed as a couple, or will they find their HEA? Throw in loving but meddlesome siblings from both families and the ingredients are perfect for a wonderful series. I enjoyed this first story very much and look forward to reading more of Shannyn’s books!
