“Lakeshore Love” continues the “By The Lake” series about the McAdams sisters from author Shannyn Leah.
This book can be read as a stand alone, but for more enjoyment read them in the order of the series, as all the characters appear in future books.

I have found that I really enjoy reading books in a series. Maybe it’s because if the story is good, the characters are well written and the setting so beautiful you don’t want the story to finish. The McAdams Sister series has all of this and the series just keeps getting better.
In this story, it’s about a love that has gone on for a decade with both Sydney and Jake not admitting to it. There are also many secrets between the two of them that keep them as friends and nothing more. As the story moves along there are so many twists, turns, and surprises that makes you want to read more and not stop. With all the secrets can Sydney and Jake ever get past them and become a true couple? You’ll have to read it to find out and will enjoy every bit of this story. It can be a stand alone but you will enjoy it even more reading the series from the beginning.
Loved the series. Kept my attention.
Sydney and Jake’s story was so full of sweetness, tears, strength and longing. These two have a history that they somehow managed to keep out of mind for many many years and after one night things changed. Watching Sydney and Jake find what they need in each other was wonderful. I absolutely loved this story and that twisty bit was just perfect!!
A great series to read, all can be read as stand alone but you get all the characters and how they develop by reading the series. I felt the flow of the story stayed on point even with the twist and turns it takes. You will not go wrong in getting this one.
Loved the intensity of Sydney McAdams’ book.
THIS is the story I’d been waiting for. Sydney’s story in Lakeshore Love is the third stand-a-lone book in the McAdams Sisters series, set in the town of Willow Valley. It is not necessary to read each book, nor do you have read them in order to enjoy the story of each sibling as they discover love. There’s a lot going on, and it was great to find out how our characters from the first two books are doing in their new lives together.
She never left home like her sisters did. Pregnant at 16, she was lucky to have survived a car accident that claimed the lives of Kyle, her boyfriend, and his stepfather.
Since then, Sydney, her daughter Haylee and Kyle’s mum Joan, had formed a family of love by choice. Jake, Joan’s stepson had come home to find his father dead, and became the fourth member, having been there for his niece, and partnering Joan in the family bar for the last 11 years or so.
Jake was there before Sydney was pregnant, and then he disappeared to live with his mother and sister. Returning a year later with nothing but secrets he’s kept from her and Joan, he’d love to be more than a friend to Sydney and her daughter, whom he loves as much as any parent could. On her part, Sydney has secrets of her own, and while neither will share, neither can move forward in life that could perhaps be better spent together.
This has to be the story that has affected me the most so far. I actually can’t say why without the fear of giving away too much, but, I was absolutely and completely gutted!!! Heartbroken, torn in two even.
The consequences that selfish family members can inflict on the love of your life, can make any attempt at a relationship almost impossible if your man gives them no boundaries. But at the end of the day, when the sh!t hits the fan, and the man you love anyway, asks you to trust him, that is what you will do…
This was definitely the most intense story about the sisters that I’ve read yet. Thank you Shannyn Leah for the gift of your book with no expectation of a review. Definitely 5 stars for all the best reasons in this book!
I loved this. Jake and Sydney are my favorite couple so far. Page after page you keep falling into their story. Love, Secrets, tears and the promise of a happily ever after. I couldn’t put this book down!
Lakeshore Love is book 3 is the McAdams Sisters Series. I highly recommend you read the series in order to get a better depth/connection with the series.
Sydney had a teenage pregnancy that resulted in her daughter Haylee. She has been raising Haylee with the help of her sisters, and Joan, the mother of Haylee’s dad. Both her son and husband died in a car accident before Haylee was born.
Joan’s, step-son, Jake Stow runs/owns a restaurant and bar in town. He left town when Sydney was sixteen without letting her know. Prior to that they were high school sweethearts. They are best friends now. Sexual tension builds between them. They finally give in to their feelings. In the back of Sydney’s mind she’s living with the fear that he’ll leave her again.
They both have secrets. They have to decide to live with those secrets or take a chance with telling those secrets.
This series gets better with each book. I seem to connect more with the characters even more as the series goes along.
I love the dynamics of the McAdams sisters. Each one of them is unique in their own way.
Romance, danger, secrets, teenage love, death. This one has it all. Jake Stowe has had a rough childhood. His dad was a workaholic & his mom was always gone on trips & vacations. His nanny, Joan was always there for him though. That is, until she had an affair with his father & broke up the marriage. Jake’s mom took his sister & disappeared while Jake had to stay with his dad. Jake could always count on Sydney to be there for him. Then he left & didn’t come back for years. He knew he blew his chance with her.
Sydney was in love but she didn’t trust Jake not to leave again. When she was 16, he left without telling her & didn’t come back for years. He wouldn’t talk about the time he was gone. How could she trust him again? How could she trust him with the truth?
This series has been a wonderful find. Shannyn Leah creates realistic three dimensional characters that struggle with real life problems. Both Jake & Sydney need to learn to trust again & put their love on the line. Each book can be read as a stand alone but reading them all gives you a better understanding of the family history & dynamics. The McAdams sisters fight, argue, love & torment each other like most sisters do. They are also there when they need each other. By starting this book & introducing us to Jake at Haylee’s junior high graduation, the readers’ emotions are hooked & the plot twists & secrets keep them engrossed until the end. The secrets revealed at the end remind the reader that nothing is ever all it seems to be.
