Peyton McAdams doesn’t want a thing to do with Colt Patterson…except she has had a crush on him since they were little. Recently, they also had a nice little romp in the shower together. But Peyton thinks she’s just another notch in Colt’s belt and is determined NOT to fall in love. Love is just a game and it destroys people. She decides to focus solely on the new all natural soap store she’s … opening with her sisters and NOT on Colt Patterson.
Colt Patterson is Willow Valley’s hometown hockey hero…or rather fallen hero. He is trying to make sense of his recently ruined life and his attraction to Peyton throws off his plans to wallow in his apartment, drinking away his sorrows. He finds himself drawn to her…and back to Willow Valley.
Can Colt and Peyton keep their fiery attraction to a dull roar and commit to just being friends or will the temptation be too strong to keep them apart?
“Lakeshore Legend” is the second in the “By The Lake” series, about the McAdams sisters, from author Shannyn Leah.
This book can be read as a stand alone, but for more enjoyment read them in the order of the series, as all the characters appear in future books.

This is the second book in the McAdams Sisters series but it can definitely be read on its own. However, I for one, am really enjoying the books as a series. Peyton has had a crush on her neighbor Colt since they were kids. But she doesn’t want to be one of the many women who have been with Colt. But is Colt’s reputation as a ladies man really who he is?
This was a very enjoyable contemporary romance that has me looking forward to what else is in store for the McAdams sisters. It was a sweet romance with very likable characters and several scenes that will have you laughing out loud.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this novel.
ARC for honest review with no compensation
Lakeshore Legend is book 2 of the McAdams Sisters series and liked how all the sisters are wrapped in the story, while this is a standalone you will want to read the rest of the series to find out about all the sisters.
Peyton and Colt have been neighbors since they were kids and she has had a crush on him all this time. Colt left town to become a professional hockey player and never looked back until his life imploded. He is trying to pickup the pieces and ends up with a one nite escapade with Peyton then leaves town and again doesn’t look back. Now a few months later he comes back and the sparks between them continue to fly. He’s determined to never let anyone into his heart and she with her “rock hard heart” doesn’t believe love exists…can these two find a way to open up and let love in or will it miss the net entirely??
Sweetly sexy, emotionally engaging romantic journey for two people afraid of love and just now realizing (after a life time of knowing each other) they just might be perfect together.
Peyton McAdams is a head strong, determined and sassy new store owner looking to make her way in the world on her own (less chance of getting hurt that way) Colt Patterson is a sexy, charming and wounded ex-hockey star back home after a accident took his knee out and a bar fight left him with assault charges to face. He is also the boy who grew up next door to Peyton and her sisters and is also no stranger to loss… Highly entertaining and thrilling adventure, I look forward to more visits to Willow Valley.
Once again, author Shannyn Leah wrote a wonderful book about the McAdams sisters. This time so focused on Peyton. The story is about love and family with some sadness and fear as well. The characters are written so that you feel like you were part of the family.
This story, the second of the McAdams series, is about Peyton McAdams who is busy getting ready for her and her sister’s store of homemade bath and skin care products ready to open. Along comes her childhood crush, Colt Patterson, a hometown hero would has retired due to an injury as a professional hockey player. Colt shows up everyone once in awhile to visit his mother who lives next door to the McAdams. Since they are so close, it’s not hard to to run into Colt. The last time Peyton and Colt saw each other, they had a little loving making session in the laundry room and Peyton never heard from Colt again. She thought she was just one more girl he had a quicky with. Now their parents are dating and they are running into each other often. Both of them have fears they have to conquer but yet they both feel something sizzling between the two of them that they each find hard to deny.
What I like about this series it the whole family aspect. The family is close and all the girls look out for each other. The added bonus of Colt’s mom and Peyton’s father getting together.
Loved the series. Kept my attention.
Made me want to read the rest of the series.
Book two in the McAdams Sisters/By the Lake series. We met all the sisters in the first book but this time we get to focus on Peyton. I noticed that the time line of the first two books inter-lap so if you noticed Peyton acting a little funny last time now we get to find out why. His name is Colt and he is a famous hockey player that the girls pretty much grew up with. Things got weird when the two of them had a one time shower thing. She is trying to avoid him and he really wants to talk to her. Neither realizes how the other really feels so what follows is quite comical as they fight the attraction until things end up getting steamy anyways. This is another great installment in this series that I found really hard to put down. If you enjoy contemporary romance novels then you really have to give this one a chance. I really enjoyed it so I give it 4/5 stars.
Wonderful story to 2 people who are so afraid they can’t see what’s right in front of them. Watching the journey of Peyton and Colt was wonderful, heartbreaking, heart pounding, sweet, sorrowful and set all in one. Amazing story, and I’m sure I’ll be reading it again sometime soon!! Can’t wait for the next book!!
Another great series pulling you in to discover all that goes on in Willow Valley. A five star rating because it was well developed with strong characters. A stand alone read but you will not go wrong by picking this one up or any in the series.
Not everyone embraces the gift of love.
Lakeshore Legend is the second stand-a-lone book in the McAdams Sisters series, set in the town of Willow Valley. It is not necessary to read each book, nor do you have read them in order, to enjoy the story of each sibling as they discover love. There’s a lot going on, and it was great to find out how Kate and Marc, from Lakeshore Secrets were doing in their new lives together.
Peyton McAdams has moved back home after the death of her Grandmother, just as her twin sister Kate has. Together, the four McAdams sisters are putting together a natural soap shop using the secret recipes developed by their Gran. She has no time for any love interest because she’s spending her days, and nights too, getting this business up and running for her sisters. And anyway, the lessons learned from the family around her, is that love is not worth the pain it inflicts when it goes wrong.
Colt Patterson, hockey legend and local boy done good is a gorgeous charmer. He grew up next to the McAdams family and was the object of Peyton’s unrelenting teenage crush. After 13 successful seasons on the ice, his life has taken a huge hit in the last two years, and through injury, he has now been forcibly retired. Home visiting his mum, he’s also charmed his way into Peyton’s pants, much to her own disgust, especially since the bastard didn’t see fit to call or contact her since. No surprise there as he pretty much seems to tap every woman who comes onto him anyway.
Meanwhile, McAdams Senior has been spending rather a lot of his time with Elaine Patterson from next door, so ignoring her son, Colt, is suddenly becoming a little more difficult, especially when he doesn’t want to be ignored….
I really love Shannyn Leah’s writing, her witty sense of humour, and, I enjoyed Lakeshore Legend. Once again, however, I was a little distracted by the flow of words, and other small grammatical or typing errors, but otherwise it in no way dulled my enjoyment of the book. I voluntarily reviewed this gifted copy. 4 Stars.
This was an enjoyable story that had me laughing at Peyton and Colt`s antics. Trying so hard to ignore their feelings that they can’t decide to be nice or sarcastic. Colt`s teasing really ramps up Peyton`s ire. It was nice watching their story unfold and their fears be revealed.
Shannyn Leah is a relatively new to me author but she’s quickly becoming a favorite. She infuses her writing with humor & emotion while giving her characters realistic problems that they need to face. Lakeshore Legend is the story about hometown girl Peyton McAdams & hockey legend Colt Patterson. Peyton & Colt had a one night stand after which he didn’t call as promised. Now she isn’t sure how to treat him. He’s home for the weekend & is staying with his mom, next door to Peyton. Colt has been hurt by his ex-wife & her lies & didn’t make it any better when his drinking & off ice confrontations force an early retirement. Peyton & Colt begin a courtship that they are each fighting. Can they find a way to make it work? Will they chicken out? How will they react to the surprise awaiting them?
The book starts with enough emotion & humor to engage the reader from the very beginning. As a reader, you have to chuckle as you picture Peyton’s dad & Colt’s mom caught in the act of doing it on the dryer by Peyton & Kate. Ms. Leah’s descriptive writing style has you able to picture the scenes in your mind easily. Both characters have to decide whether or not to open themselves up to being hurt again & allow themselves to love again. As in real life, it wasn’t an easy process & the reader can easily identify with them as they work their way though the process. Even though this is Book 2 in the series, it can easily be read as a stand alone as the story seems self contained in one book.
