Romance and old secrets beckon in this small North Carolina lake town. When her parents die in a tragic accident, Molly Bennett and her siblings pull together to fulfill their parents’ dream of turning their historic Bluebell, North Carolina, home back into an inn. Staying in town would be temporary–three years at most–then they plan to sell the inn, and Molly can get back to chasing her own … chasing her own dreams.
Adam Bradford (aka bestselling author Nathaniel Quinn) is a reclusive novelist with a bad case of writer’s block. Desperate for inspiration as his deadline approaches, he travels to the setting of his next book, a North Carolina lake town. There, he meets his muse, a young innkeeper who fancies herself in love with his alter ego.
Molly and Adam strike up an instant friendship. When Molly finds a long-lost letter in the walls of her inn, she and Adam embark on a mission to find the star-crossed lovers and bring them the closure they deserve. But Adam has secrets he isn’t ready to share. Past and present collide as truths surface, and Molly and Adam will have to decide if love is worth trusting.

Given ARC for my voluntary review and my honest opinion by Net..Galley and
What a wonderful book to get lost in, and that I did, and I sure wasn’t disappointed.
If you love a good mystery, this one will keep your attention, and this one is not the usual, more like putting together a puzzle with missing pieces.
Your heart will go out to these siblings, two of them put their lives on hold to help finish raising their youngest sister, and in turn they help fulfill their parents dream.
See how a love of reading and a dream of living in Italy, solve one part of the puzzle.
Is it a mistake we are at a certain place at a certain time, I find that a God thing, and so do these characters as amazing facts begin to unfold, you won’t be able to put this one down!
I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Thomas Nelson, and was not required to give a positive review.
What can I even say about this book?! I love it so dearly. I’ve read many of Denise Hunter’s books, but this one has quickly become one of my favorites! I couldn’t put it down. Hunter ventured into split-time territory with this novel, but she handled it beautifully. I was invested in both storylines and found myself desperate to find out what happened next. Fans of emotional, tender romances will find a lovely home for their hearts in this book.
I received a complimentary copy of this novel via NetGalley and courtesy of Thomas Nelson. All expressed opinions are my own.
Lake Season begins Denise Hunter’s newest series, Bluebell Inn Romance. Readers are introduced to the Bennett sisters. After the death of their parents, the girls decide to honor them by making their home into an inn. While needing inspiration for his new writing in progress, bestselling author, Adam goes on a retreat in the Bennett’s inn. He soon finds himself trying to solve old mystery with the oldest Bennett sister, Molly.
I enjoyed Lake Season. I honestly was not sure about it at first really. I did not care too much for Molly. She quickly grew on me. By the quarter of the way through the story, I was hooked and could not put it down until I read to the end. I had it read in one day.
I am giving Lake Season four and a half stars. I can not wait to see what happens next in the Bluebell Inn Romance series.
I received this book from the publisher. This review is 100% my own honest opinion.
I know I love any book by Denise Hunter but this may be her best yet! Molly and Eric Bennett are wonder characters who put their lives on hold after their parents deaths to complete their parents’ project and dream of turning their old home into an inn and allowing their younger sister to complete high school in Bluebell, North Carolina. Molly finds an old love letter in the wall and becomes determined to find the writer or intended recipient! Adam Bradford is their first guest when he shows up before their opening day and needs a place to stay. Adam lacks self-confidence because he came from a family of football players where he was the nerdy, non-athletic cousin. Adam joins Molly in the search for the couple involved with the letter. I shed a few tears through this sad but exciting discovery! Lake Season involves restoring an old house, genealogy, Viet Nam war, adoption, learning to accept ourselves and learning to be completely truthful. I highly recommend Lake Season to others. I received an advance e-book from NetGalley. This is my honest opinion.
This book gripped me from the prologue. I can’t imagine that type of loss the Bennett siblings went through and I desperately wanted to know they would be okay.
This series starts with Molly Bennett and she seems like an awesome person and one I’d be friends (if only she were real). But as much as I liked Molly, Adam is what made this a 5-star read for me.
A nerdy her and a bestselling author?! I loved reading his pov as he navigated the waters and tried to come out of his shell when it came to Molly.
I was also surprised by the little historical thread. I may have shed a tear or two while reading it. And that’s all I’m saying about that.
I binged this in one setting and can’t wait for book 2.

‘You’ve been so busy trying to protect yourself, you won’t let anybody in.’
Denise Hunter begins a new series with this novel, set in a small Bluebell, NC. The Bennett siblings, Molly, Levi, and Grace lost their parents unexpectedly in a car accident and decide to finish turning their home into an inn as their parents were doing at the time of their death. When a reclusive author comes to stay, trying to cure his writer’s block, he finds a muse in Molly Bennett. She loves his books but doesn’t know he is the author because he writes under a pseudonym. No, Molly thinks she is in love with the author, not the real guy. Molly finds an old letter when they are remodeling the inn, which used to be the post office, and shares it with Adam, the writer, who she doesn’t know is the writer. They decided to research this letter and maybe try to find the person who wrote it and the one to whom she wrote it. Thus begins a delightful and moving story, what we’ve come to expect from Hunter’s work.
I found it difficult to tear myself away from this book long enough to do life. I fell in love with Bluebell and the Bennett family. I’m so glad each sibling will get a story. Hunter builds on each character until we are fully vested in their lives. It’s as if we can get into their hears and minds and feel their emotions. I was in tears during several scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and look forward to the next two in the series. Highly recommended.

Lake Season is Book 1 in Denise Hunter’s newest Bluebell Inn Romance series. It all starts with a letter from the past and ends with the promise of love letters in the future. This book was so riveting I literally read it in a single day, I couldn’t put it down. For any reader who loves reading romantic fiction what could be better than a story about a bestselling author who is the main character. I absolutely loved how the storyline developed and all of the references to some of the best known authors. When a romance author can be compared to works by greats like Nickolas Sparks you know that the mark has been hit.
I truly enjoyed the message and situations that the author walked the reader through. You are taken from innocuous things like opinions on writer’s block to damaged self-esteem. It even reminds the reader of the importance of forgiveness in the wake of dishonesty regardless of the reason. This new book by one of the best Christian Authors is a MUST READ. You won’t be able to put it down either.
This book was just so-so for me. There were some good parts when Molly and Adam had great chemistry, but the rest of the story line lagged and had me rolling my eyes at times. Molly had a hard time forgiving Adam for not telling her that he was an author, but he wrote under a fictional name and didn’t tell anyone. They weren’t dating and i don’t understand why she felt like he owed that to her, and she wouldn’t let it go. After a while, it got on my nerves. It was constantly tied back to her previous relationship, but we are never told what Dominic(her previous boyfriend) had done.
This just fell a little flat for me. I was still read the rest of the series though.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
This might be my favorite Denise Hunter book of all time. Considering the fact that I think I have read all (if not most) of her books, that is saying a lot. What I loved about this one is the connection from the past to the present. The emphasis is on moving on from choices that are forced upon us. Unconditional love and acceptance is also prevalent. For some characters, they have that all along. For others, the difficult times were what pushed them on to new directions. The love story was so, so sweet, and so were the family connections. I was truly sad when the book was over. I am hoping this one is the first one in a series! Thanks to #netgalley and Thomas Nelson for allowing me to read a preview copy. I will be recommending this book again and again.
Lake Season by author Denise Hunter is a precious and heart-touching inspirational romance. Molly and Levi are siblings who make the choice to give up their personal plans to accommodate Grace, their youngest sister during a time of their greatest grief. Their parents had been renovating the one-hundred-year-old home for an inn before they were killed in a horrible accident. A week before the scheduled opening of the inn, Adam Bradford, an anonymous author is in Bluebell seeking a place to stay as he writes his next novel. He meets with Molly and assists her in assembling an accent table for the lobby when she initially confuses him for a handyman. I won’t post spoilers but there is a wonderful mystery in the book which leads to a very unexpected connection to Bluebell for Adam.
A grieving family, a lost love letter, and a writers’ quest all make an awesome link to bring closure for unforgotten loves.
