“Kleypas is a romance gem, a queen among a vast royal court of historical romance authors.” —Entertainment WeeklyA stunning new reprint of a classic Lisa Kleypas love story about a man whos decided to forgo all romantic entanglements… until he meets a beautiful woman with a secret…They call him the Monk of Bow StreetSir Ross Cannon, magistrate and head of the Bow Street Runners, has spent the … Street
Sir Ross Cannon, magistrate and head of the Bow Street Runners, has spent the past few years apprehending the most dangerous criminals in London. He’s driven and disciplined, a man to be feared. His personal needs have been set aside, his days and nights consumed by the determined pursuit of justice.
Until Lady Sophia Sydney, a beautiful young woman with a tarnished past, comes to ask for employment. Ross knows a woman like Sophia doesn’t belong in the rough-and-tumble world of Bow Street, but he gives in to temptation and hires her as his assistant. Day by day the attraction between them grows, until neither of them can ignore the power of their mutual desire.
But Sophia has a secret . . . and when Ross discovers the tragic link between their pasts, any chance of being with him will vanish. All they have are a few nights of pleasure, before Sophia will be forced to leave the man she’s fallen hopelessly in love with.
What she doesn’t count on is how much Ross is willing to risk for the sake of a woman who’s awakened his heart.

Lady Sophia’s Lover is one of my favorite Lisa Kleypas romances. Why do I love it so? A lady-turned-housekeeper sets her sights on a buttoned-up hero—a man she marks for revenge. This novel has all the fun of a well-done slowwwwww burn (that eventually delivers heat). Lady Sophia insinuates herself in her target’s household to right a wrong against her brother, but in the process, she falls for the justice-minded Sir Ross Cannon. The Bow Street leader works tirelessly for law and order—and to hoard what’s left of his heart after his wife’s death. Lady Sophia’s Lover is on my keeper shelf because…well, sex and emotion. This book is chock full conflict layers (better than a chocolate cake!) which are revealed by two richly drawn characters. I’ve read and re-read this one a number of times. It’s that good.
The book was rather cute. I liked Sir Ross but was quietly wondering about Sophia’s plan. Did she think it through? Probably not. The twist in the end was interesting, the characters were engaging, the banter semi funny and the pace never lagged. I enjoyed it.
I just discovered this author and her novels in 2020. I love all her novels. I have read all her recent works and am going back to read her earlier works. I absolutely loved Lady Sophia’s Lover. The characters were so real. The plot was fast paced, full of action, drama, and plenty of passion. One of my favorite of her novels. I love this series. Can’t wait to read Worth Any Price!
I’m hooked on this series!
I’ve enjoyed Lady Sophia’s Lover more than book 1 of this series! Have you read any book in which the hero found immediate sexual attraction right from the very first paragraph? Thisis the first for me , especially said hero was notoriously known to be The Monk of Bow Street …
Sir Ross Cannon was the most powerful Chief Magistrate in England. He was self-controlled and always seemed to be cold and distant from the rest of the world. After his wife died from childbirth, he vowed not to fall in love again. But his life was completely thrown off balance when Sophia Sydney showed up in his office to apply for an assistant position. It was such a delight to see how she completely knocked him off kilter . He’d spent the past few years carefully reining in his desires for love, sex, companionship, then she just appeared and unleashed them all . Sophia soon found out that underneath that hard facade was a sensual lover with a voracious sexual appetite …
Approaching Ross with her own agenda, Sophia soon abandoned all her plans as she realized he wasn’t the man she had imagined, and started caring for him more than she could allow herself. I liked how she dealt with her inner struggles, and I admired her righteousness and her good heart. I was a bit disappointed that she was not honest with Ross and didn’t trust him and his love enough to deal with her dilemma , but it was all good in the end, thanks to Ross’s fierce love for her .
The sexual tension and steam in this book could burn my Kindle , the chamber horse sex, the makeup sex,… And Ross has won me over with his great morality, his protectiveness and care for his family, and his immense talents in negotiation and management of the police force. This book made me grin , laugh , cry , swoon , fan myself … Beside the romance, it has a bit of Catch-Me-If-You-Can vibe, and I’m excited to move on to the last book of the series!
5 read for me!
I never miss a Lisa Kleypas Book. Always entertaining.
One of my favorite books from Lisa Kleypas that i enjoy rereading!
Another fantastic story by Lisa Kleypas, the 2nd book in her Bow Street Runners series.
I’ll read anything by Lisa Kleypas. This story was especially lovely, not only for the main characters, but for the relationship between the brother and sister. Not only that, but I learned a great deal about the police system of the times. Definitely worth the read!
Its readable, what makes it better,is its historic
