A Duke to the rescue.
Abigail’s had a lot of ups and downs in her life, but an invitation to a house party means things just might start looking up. A boat ride with a Duke , an innocent encounter with same Duke at night creates another scandal. An offer of marriage might help, if only he was her knight Duke in shining honor. An emotional rollercoaster of two unlikely people falling in love.
Miss Abigail Wright was always trying to find goodness, happiness and joy in her life despite the scandal of her first come-out. She is most comfortable living with her parents and has ruled out marriage as an option for her future…perhaps a nanny, or a companion to an elderly person, or a seamstress. After a second scandal befalls upon Ms. Wright, the town is turning on her, as well as her parents, and her future options are dwindling fast.
Alex Cross, the Duke of Monfort is cold as ice, and the ton have come to know him as the Duke of Ice. After losing his wife and two children in an ice skating incident, his demeanor has changed to that of ice and is good at keeping people away from him. He has decided that his mistress needs to go and for a wife to be found to produce an heir. Something that he really does not wish to do.
Both of them are attending the same summer house party and are tossed together by Lady Natalie for a row around the lake. The row around the lake will be something that neither of them will ever forget.
Is Ms. Wright the answer to the Duke of Monfort’s search for a wife? He can always take up another mistress if he really wanted too. Can she melt the ice that surrounds his heart?
Is the Duke of Monfort the answer to Abigail’s situation? Can he help her recover from the two scandals that follow her everywhere?
Well…you will need to read this book to find out those answers! I highly recommend this book and series!!
Lady Saves The Duke is the newest offering from Annabelle Anders, available February 6, 2019. Ms. Anders handles what could be a touchy subject matter with dignity and consideration. Some characters you root for to find love and passion, others you root for a small bit of happiness. Lady Saves The Duke had me rooting for a sliver of happiness for everyone and crying a little bit over the turns life can take.
Miss Abigail Wright is a 27 year old ruined spinster. Her scheming mother finagles Abby and cousin Penelope an invitation to a country house party. The Earl has three single sons, one a viscount! It’s too good an opportunity to pass up and Abby’s mother still wants marriage for her, ruined or not. Abby is a lovely character in many ways but my favorite is that she’s not a skinny-ninny. Girls got curves and stretch marks. Well hello, reality.
Alex Cross, Duke of Monfort is attending the party in order to look over the Earl’s modern improvements to his estate. He’s certainly not interested in a group of foolish young ladies. Alex is a widower nicknamed the Duke of Ice. He’s closed off, very duke-ish and likes it that way. He’s stuck with Miss Wright for an afternoon boat ride thanks to the maneuvers of the Earl’s daughter. Things get awkward and he leaves the party early. Unfortunately he’s “ruined” Abby again! They were seen, gossiped about, and she’s now a double ruin-ee. Although he doesn’t truly understand why, he proposes to Abby to save her reputation and anyway, he needs an heir.
It’s interesting to witness their journey to a happy ending. They are strangers, drawn to each other but scared of being hurt again. There are secrets and situations to overcome, of course, but along the way they have fun. Both learn to laugh again. Don’t miss the wedding, it’s a hoot! The epilogue is sweet and I teared up. The Lady Saves The Duke could also be the Duke Saves The Lady. Might I suggest cousin Penelope have a HEA of her own? Happy reading.

This book has some twists in it that you won’t expect. Incredibly well written story with characters you can’t help but love.
I really do love all of Annabelle Anders books that I have read but this one is my favorite, so far. The couple in this book grabbed my attention & wouldn’t let me go. They were so real to me & I felt their happy times with laughter & sad times with tears (sobs).
Be warned, once you start reading this story, you will not be able to put it down! Abigail Wright is a spinster who has been hurt in the past & still suffers deep sadness. Alex Cross, the Duke of Monfort aka Duke of Ice has also had to live with great loss & has locked his emotions deep inside.
This is a beautiful, emotional journey with Abigail’s sunny outlook bringing heat to melt Alex’s ice. I highly recommend this book & all of the books in this series.!!
Starring Miss Abigail Wright and Alex Cross, Duke of Monfort… aka The Duke of Ice.
I have been sooooo curious about the Duke of Monfort ever since they mentioned him and the tragic incident with his family in A Lady’s Prerogative. That little snippet broke my heart and I’ve wanted him to find his HEA after that.
Alex is a moody, broody, stoic, and standoffish hero… but totally yummy, mmm’kay?!?! He’s locked his heart up so tight and is going through life detached from everything. That is until curvy, chatterbox Abigail enters his scene and forces him to feel again. And even though he tries his damndest to stay aloof where she’s concerned, she starts to melt the ice around his heart… and it’s so beautiful, y’all!!
I have to admit that usually I’m all about the hero… but Abigail has the spotlight on her in this book and she’s simply amazing. She’s been through so much, gave pieces of her soul away, and has been surrounded by a family that speaks ill of her instead of supporting and defending her. Yet with the whole world set against her, she’s still a ray of sunshine, and happy, and bubbly… she’s like a sprinkle of glitter. Even Alex smiles more when he’s around her. I found her so refreshing and heartwarmingly optimistic… and inspiring. Even during the times we would have understood if she nut-up and gave the Universe the finger for every tragic $#!+ that got piled on her plate… she never completely surrendered to the darkness. She always found a way to hold on to a glimmer of hope. What an extraordinary heroine. You can’t help but cheer for her.
Abigail and Alex had me ugly crying AF, y’all!! Like, next level UCAF!! Such a beautiful story of love, hope, and forgiveness. This book will take you on a roller coaster ride of emotions, so have lotsa Kleenex ready. You have been warned!!
This is the 3rd book in the Lord Love A Lady series. I’ve read all (except the 6th book). Annabelle Anders has created a wonderful world with unforgettable characters. With each book she keeps solidifying her place in my “All Time Fave Authors” list. She is a total Keeper Shelf author and I enjoy every second that I get lost in her stories. She’s an absolutely brilliant writer!!
Learned a new word:
recalcitrant /rəˈkalsətrənt/
having an obstinately uncooperative attitude toward authority or discipline.
My Star rating: 5 stars x 100
Ugly cried AF. Major book hangover. Characters and storyline were amazing. Made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels!! Will be re-reading this story over and over and over again
Another amazing book!
I laughed, I cried, and I didn’t want it to be over. Abigail is a short, curvy, country spinster with scandal in her past. Alex, is known as the Duke of Ice, for his cold demeanor due to tragedy in his past. Because of a wardrobe malfunction and some not so smart choices at a house party more scandal ensues this time between the two of them. They marry due to circumstances but what happens next is a story of tragedy, honor, and love.
Annabelle Anders writes wonderful romantic stories that become lessons about life that can rip your heart apart and then put it back together in just the right way.
Every story this author pens is exceptional. But I was not prepared for the emotions this one brought up because I could feel the despair of the heroine as she tried to make the best of a bad situation! Thinking back on my youth, I could remember a few of those feelings myself! What to do when you end up at a house party and are almost pushed to the attention of a Duke? Not just any duke though, but one labeled the “Duke of Ice”!
My heart went out to Abigail and Alex because they both had been through so much. When fate seems to bring these too souls together in an unexpected way, I could only cheer and hope that they could heal each other!
There are so many words I want to say about this story but I will leave it to you to find out what happens. Annabelle Anders is a master storyteller creating captivating characters that pulled me into the story as she brought them alive! Her insightful descriptions and wonderful words weave a story that will not be soon forgotten. I highly recommend this book and every one she has written!
Lady Saves the Duke
by Annabelle Anders
Once again I have to say that Annabelle Anders has taken me on an emotional rollercoaster, this has to be my favourite book so far!
So many emotions were touched, my heart went out to Abigail the poor woman was raped by a beast lived through it was punished for it and shunned for it. I LOVED her spirit she saw life through a pure heart, she believed the goodness in humanity. Her parents should have been the supportive parents she needed but were selfish and thought of only the scandal.
Alex had his own issues he wasn’t an uncaring person but he was keeping his heart from making the emotional connection in fear of being hurt. But he had no clue that Abigail was giving him exactly what he craved.
This was an amazing read that has taken a hold of my emotions and it will be a long time before I stop thinking about this book. Annabelle Anders has a gift in storytelling she creates an imaginary world that the reader feels they’re a part of. I highly recomend this wonderfull emotional story.
I recieved a complimentary copy from the author. This is my honest unbiased opinion.
This is one of the best books Annabelle as written to date! Lady Saves the Duke by Annabelle Anders is book 3 in the Lord Love a Lady series. You will laugh and cry as this is a very emotional book but can’t be put down. Annabelle has an amazing talent for her regency descriptions and characters that even when you have a duke that is referred to as the Duke of Ice you can’t help but fall in love with them. This story has cruelty, kindness, loving sisters, an unforgiving mother, peer pressure, a joy for the holidays, a scandal, deceit, guilt, a broken betrothal and love at first sight. This book has it all and than some! I highly recommend this book or any of Annabelle Anders book as you won’t be disappointed.
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.

So when her mother insists she attend a house party–uninvited–she determines to simply make the best of it until an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction. Alex Cross, the “Duke of Ice,” has more than earned the nickname given him by the ton. Another brilliant read. The wardrobe malfunction “Oh God” had me laughing out loud as did Abby’s parents leaving her behind for an important event but then other parts of the book had me crying. This is the third book in the series, it could be read on its own but to fully appreciate it I’d read the other books as the time frame is linked & characters from the other books do appear. A roller coaster of a read, which takes you through a whole range of emotions. The characterisation is extremely good & the pace flows effortlessly. I was totally captivated from start to finish so much so that it was 3:30 in the morning when I finished it.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
I wasn’t in the mood for the wallflower/duke story when I started this story, in spite of the humor of the first few pages, so I set it aside. But I came back and started reading again. What a wonderful story, it had me turning the page and not wanting to put the book down, waiting to see what would happen next. This author has a wonderful way of writing. She can create characters that are full of warmth, sorrow, love, humour and mystery. She had me smiling and crying wanting only the best for this couple who had to deal with so much sorrow and hardship. Abigail was such a delightful young lady, with all her strengths and hopes and Alex, a duke full of honour, willing to take a chance and do the right thing by a young woman he didn’t know but had wronged. There was so much in this book that I am glad I came back and finished it. I won’t be making the same mistake again. Ms Anders knows how to put emotion of all kinds to paper. There are a few sex scenes that needed to be in the book, and the parts I read (this reviewer skips the sex scenes) where handled delicately in light Abigail’s past. I now look forward to reading the next.
This is a heartwarming and gut-wrenching story that will have you on a rollercoaster of emotions. They both have stories that will make you cry, but those stories bring them together and they understand each other more than they know it. If you’ve read A Lady’s Prerogative then you got a glimpse of their first meeting, but it’s not as innocent as everyone thinks. They are very different from each other but drawn to each other and it shows in that first meeting.
Abigail is a brave and strong woman that I admired more and more as her story unfolded. She had been through so much, but you wouldn’t know by how she carried herself and acted. I loved that she didn’t hide away and when angry she didn’t run. She stayed when others would have ran away. So many women can relate to her in different ways.
Alex will break your heart with how much his thoughts of the past eat at him. He needed her and didn’t really know why at first. I loved him and how wanted the truth and understood what she needed. He never blinked an eye at anything she told him. He could also deliver a well-deserved pounding when needed.
Their wedding will go down in history as one of the best ones for very unique reasons. When it came to her parents I wanted to strangle them so much from the blaming her to the horrible jokes they made.
I want to praise Annabelle for writing a curvy heroine with a real body stretch marks and all. We need more like this.
I also want to mention that this book does deal with a past rape that happened before the book. There are no graphic details, but it is a huge part of the story. It is handled very well by Annabelle, but still may be triggering to some.

I laughed, I cried, I wanted to smack the Duke, my heart went out to Abigail….oh yes, this author sure knows how to write a story that will arouse all of these emotions! I absolutely adored Abigail, no matter what her lot in life, she always saw the bright side. Alex is called the Duke of Ice for a reason, he’s cold and keeps all emotions in check….until he meets Abigail!! There are some laugh at loud moments and there are some heartbreaking moments throughout the story and there was absolutely no way I could put the book down until I’d finished reading it.
As a side note to the author, Annabelle Anders, your books do indeed bring comfort to your readers!!
I received and ARC of this book in return for an honest review.
