Maxima Alcado returns in another heart-pounding installment of the international bestselling Rogue Ethereal Series.A former Rogue being presented to the Fates. What could go wrong? When I was offered a seat on the Ethereal Council, no one said anything about meeting the actual Fates. On the day of my presentation, not only do I offend the three women who control every single thread of life, but an … control every single thread of life, but an Angel’s thread is cut short, and no one knows how.
Now, it’s my job to find out who did it before the death gets pinned on me, and starts an all-out Angel-Demon war.
Maybe being a Rogue was the least of my problems.

Max so needs to be my BFF!!!! We pick up after the events of the last book and she is being pressured to take a council seat. Events conspire that get her to agree but things take a turn for the worse at her presentation to the Fates ceremony. From there it’s non stop action, secrets, surprises, and lots of magic. Add in Max’s quirky attitude and it is impossible to stop reading once you get started. I can’t wait to see what she does next. A must read for fans of urban fantasy. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Ahhhhh!! This series! I just finished Lady of Madness & Moonlight and I need more! I can’t believe I finished already. I tried so hard to savor it. I told myself that I was going to take my time with it, but then I started reading and I couldn’t stop.
If you’re reading this review, chances are that you’ve read the other two books in the series, meaning you already know that you’re going to read this one too, but I get it, sometimes you just want to see what other people think. I won’t go into detail because there are definitely some surprises here and there. I will tell you that I am obsessed with this series and these characters. Max is incredible. Her drive and strength make her seem almost super human, yet her vulnerability and insecurities makes her feel oh so real. Her inner circle are extremely intriguing and I have loved getting to spend time with them. I can’t wait to see where Anderson leads them.
Like the rest of the series, this installment was a fast-paced, action packed adventure. There was never a dull moment. I was on the edge of my seat from start to finish!
One look at the cover and I was “all in”.
An excellent paranormal urban fantasy read
Max, a witch demon hybrid, has jumped from one mess to another and was hoping to get a breather. As the story progresses another situation lands at her feet, new Ethereals come into her life, and once again the fate of the world rests on her shoulders. Annie Anderson’s Lady of Madness and Moonlight is an excellent paranormal urban fantasy read. It has thrilling situations, emotional interactions, and new twists on magic and myths that draw you in. I can’t wait for book four to come out.
Action-packed, full of mind-blowing, butt-kicking excitement! Another freakin fantastic book from Annie Anderson. Max comes upon her greatest challenge yet and the story is soooooooooo good. You need to read this series if you haven’t yet! Waiting for book 4 now. Can’t wait….OMG I need it now!
This was an excellent book. This world is fact paced and action packed. It’s full of fantasy and adventure. I enjoyed it.
OMG where do I begin with this review….. There was so much action and twists and turns that I was at the edge of my seat reading this book. I wanted to read this book slow as I enjoyed the other two but it was impossible as Max is invited to be on the council and at first she isn’t sure she wants to be on the council but then she is told that she is a part of the council and will work with the other three women on it. But on the day of her presentation she offend the other three women and can’t believe she did that. She is trying to apologize and fix things when things go even worse for her.
An angel’s thread is cut short and she must find out who did it and why. She has no idea where to begin but she knows she better get to it or else she will be in a heap of trouble with the council. Her friends come to the rescue and as she sets out to find out what happens she has no idea that she is about to start off on one hell of an adventure.
Maxima is one of my all time favorite heroines. Her story just keeps getting better and better. With every new challenge she faces and butt she kicks the reader gets to see her grow. Reflecting on the knowledge she’s gained and using it to become better. She’s got brains, guts and heart.
This part of her journey introduces Maxima to the charming, mysterious and slightly moody Alister.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed that the two end up together in the next book. They are such a great pair.
Annie Anderson continues to be one of my favorite authors. I always know that when I read one of her books, I might as well just set aside the time to sit down and read the whole thing in one setting. But, on the other hand, I want to take my time and savor each and every word because there is something wonderfully entertaining on every page.
In this installment of the series, we once again have my favorite half demon/half witch, Maxima Alcado, in trouble (of course!). She has been asked to serve on the Council which previously refused to accept her. But, somebody doesn’t seem too happy about the whole thing.
I loved the addition of a new character in Alister, a demon who wants her seat on the Council. Will they become enemies or allies? There are plenty of hints at what might be, but the author leaves her readers hanging on that aspect.
There is plenty of magic, action, and betrayal as Max tries to solve a murder on a 48 hour deadline, answer to the Fates (who are three women that I wouldn’t trust with anything important), and save her sister Maria once again. There is also plenty of Ms. Anderson’s trademark snarkiness in the book and I found myself highlighting quotes on nearly every page. I love the humor that she adds to the book and would truly miss it if it wasn’t there.
Some of my favorite quotes, which I think sum up the story well, are below.
“I was a tattooed outcast who liked to make sure people paid for picking on the little guy.”
“Impervious and indestructible really aren’t in my vocabulary.”
“How exactly is a man supposed to earn your trust if you refuse to give him even an ounce of leeway to prove himself?”
“I’d rather just do it myself and save the hassle.”
“I think, Sentinel, what you are is still being discovered.”
Thanks again, Ms. Anderson, for sharing your wonderful talent with your readers. I wait with bated breath to see what happens next with Max and friends!
Overall rating: 5
Yep….a solid five. This is book three…with no let downs whatsoever for me. Every character, every suspenseful plot twist, every shock this author put me through…just brilliant. I am truthfully perturbed that I have to wait for book four, as though this challenge to my patience was done on purpose just for me …ridiculous…I know..but it’s one of “those” books. My emotions rode this rollercoaster and like an addict I need more lol. Sigh..until next book all. All my reviews are voluntarily written
4.5 Cranky Stars
Maxima AKA Max is about to be primped and trotted around like a prized show pony to the council. She is doing this begrudgingly. The Fates have other plans for her and tell her she HAS to dance with every male at the presentation. It’s here she meets Alistair Quinn one of the three guardians to the gates of Hell. He rubs her the wrong way and she pushes him back at every turn. When they stumble upon a crime in the judgement room, she knows they will be pinned for it because the victim is someone from Max’s past. She is given 48 hours to prove their innocence and it’s not without hiccups and no leads. With her group of friends and the Fates not helping and the Keys possible betrayal it’s a fight for their lives.
I adore Max. I have since book one I like that she makes no apologies for who she is. Which is a 400-year-old hybrid who is still discovering things about herself and It seems there are more secrets lurking in her closet. I’m hoping that Alistair is someone who will stick around. I like him he challenges her and can keep up. I read this book so quick I wish I would have prolonged it, but I seriously needed to know who was behind it all. You learn a little more about her past and that of the witches in her family. I can’t wait to read more!! I might go and re read the series that’s how much I love it.
A great read, with excellent characters and a solid plot!
I don’t know about you, but I definitely don’t want to mess with the lady on the cover of this book! It draws me in immediately. (Also, I love the clever pentagram inside the ‘O’!)
