This turns out to be a journey in which this woman discovers more than she expected. Sarah, a healer, was raised by her now deceased mother. Although her mother spoke of her father, allegedly a member of English nobility, she doesn’t know his name. She is given incentive to travel abroad to locate him, and during her time in England she meets three other women who befriend her. She also meets a man.
David is the second son of an Earl. He is a known rake who spends most of his time on the prowl or in gaming hells. After an unexpected evening, and recovery from its consequences, David takes it upon himself to assist Sarah in her search and the two begin a romance that is heated and engaging.

This series has been an adventure in itself! From America to England, a journey that will keep you enthralled until the very end!! Sara Jones had learned from her mother to be a healer and after her mother passed, she continued to help those in need. When she ends up in London to begin her search, it seems she may never find him. What she does find is David Redmond, the second son to an Earl, a charming rake extraordinaire, but also a wounded man who ended up on her doorstep.
A lovely romantic story of two people who met by chance, or was it? She helped him heal and he was going to help her find her father. Can she find out who he is and how will that change her life?
Truly enjoyed this tale and as all of Ellie St Claire’s books, I highly recommend this one and all in this series…
Sarah Jones knew nothing of her father. Raised in a small American village by her mother and trained as a healer receives a anonymous letter saying she should come to London and search for her father. In hopes of finding some connection to family Sarah sets sail for an uncertain life. David Redmond has spent his life on drinking, women and fun when it catches up with him. Severely beaten and left on the doorstep of the local healer. This is not the first time that Sarah has found someone in need of help left on her doorstep. The difference is that this is David Redmond is the second son of an Earl and Sarah has worked hard to keep this part of her life hidden. After David awakens to find that Sarah is the one taking care of her and how she came to be in London and her quest for her father he can’t help but for the first time in his life sees a possible life with something more.this was such a wonderful story of two totally different people coming together. I loved seeing David grow up into the man you know he can be. Definitely recommend this one!
Sarah Jones grew up in the wilds of America, close to the City of Baltimore. In the small rural village, her mother had been a healer and had passed her skills onto Sarah. After her mother dies, Sarah finds herself alone, healing people as need. An unexpected letter from England arrives with the opportunity to travel back to England and discover her roots. The message suggests that she could find her real father, who is an important lord, and perhaps claim her real identity. After arriving in London, she spends her nights in a boarding house making money by treating people that have discovered her healing skills. Lord David Redmond, the second son of an Earl, is carefree about his life, and finds himself beaten and left at Sarah’s door. After Sarah heals him, he becomes aware, that she like him is alone in life. Yes, David had family, but he chose to stay away from them as they criticized his lifestyle. This mysterious adventure turns out to be full of twists and turns that keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next. Well done Ellie St. Claire.
Sarah Jones has spent her life in a small American village & after the death of her mother has taken over the role of local healer. She’s always wanted to know the identity of her father & is surprised to receive a cryptic letter about the true identity of her father, an English nobleman. She’s also sent money & a ticket to travel to England. On the boat she meets Lady Alexandra who agrees to sponsor Sarah whilst she searches for her father. So begins two years of spending evenings in the ton & nights in a boarding house in Cheapside, making money by treating people who come to her for her healing abilities. But one night, a nobleman appears on her doorstep, nearly dead, and her life will never be the same again. Lord David Redmond, second son of the Earl of Kilkenny, loves his life of pleasure and in pursuit of fun. He has never been able to understand the appeal of settling down with one woman, much to his parents’ dismay. Until one night, he suffers the consequences of a liaison that should have never occurred, and he finds himself badly beaten outside a gaming hell.
Left for dead in the streets, David wakes up to find himself in the hands of a beautiful woman who treats him. Soon they each discover a connection they never asked for and are not sure they can live with. When she finally shares her story, he vows to repay her by finding her father.
This is the fourth & final story in this lovely series, it could be read & enjoyed on its own but if you love series then I’d recommend reading from the start. The previous couples all makes appearances, which added to my enjoyment of this book. The joy of the whole series has been the heroines, four women who are not your run of the mill Regency ladies & this slant has been great. Sarah is a very talented healer & David is a rake, together they are perfect. A well written book that drew me in from the start & I was hooked until the last page, delightful characters & a well paced story. There were secrets & misunderstandings along the way of this enthralling read.
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
Sarah Jones is a healer who has grown up in America. Her mother never told her the name of her father, but now a letter has come tempting her to travel to England and find him.
Lord David Redmond has a reputation as a rake who cares for nothing except enjoying himself. His parents despair of him ever finding a wife.
Our heroine is a very self sufficient young lady who has managed to straddle the line between the ton and the common people. Helping people is something she is driven to do, no matter who they are.
As pressure builds on our hero he finds out he is not the center of anyone’s world. He didn’t think that would matter to him, but it does.
A very entertaining story with fabulous characters. It is part of a series but easily read on it’s own. You will fleeting meet the characters from the other books but that will not spoil them for you if you haven’t read them yet. They are all well worth reading.
Very enjoyable reading.
