How old is too old to dream?
Walt Williams always dreamed of being a hero.
When retirement isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, Walt decides it’s the perfect time to achieve his dream and give Lady Justice a helping hand. So, he decides to become a cop!
Follow Walt as he leaves the real estate world and retirement to solve crime and bring perps to justice. It’s a bumpy but often hilarious … bumpy but often hilarious ride.
Walt and Ox, his partner in the Kansas City Police Department, find very unorthodox ways of bringing criminals to justice. After all, Walt has to rely on his ability to outsmart the bad guys. And — they have plenty of help from others in the Senior Set.
In this action-packed, laugh-out-loud tale, Walt and his band of scrappy seniors are faced with the terrifying challenge of taking out the Realtor Rapist and the huge job of bringing down the Russian mob.
It’s a job only the City Retiree Action Patrol can do, and they provide plenty of laughs along the way.
I guarantee, after reading Lady Justice Takes a C.R.A.P., you will come away with a new light-hearted perspective and respect for the triumphs and challenges of the Senior Set.
In fact, you may even be prompted to ask your Grandpa what he’s been up to lately!

I read LADY JUSTICE TAKES A C.R.A.P. in one sitting. I’m a librocubicularist, so that means I didn’t get much sleep last night. Reading in bed while my significant other was sleeping peacefully meant laughing out loud without making a sound. Let me tell you, that’s not easy.
Robert Thornhill has written absolutely believable great characters. To them he has added a myriad of pop culture references strategically aimed at the older set; the Tik Tok set might just have to google some of them. Let’s start with Walt Williams who is 66 years old, retired after 30 years in real estate, and essentially bored out of his mind. Then there’s Maggie, Walt’s sweetheart also 66 years old but still working in real estate. When these two get together you will laugh until your sides ache. You will come to appreciate the Professor’s Confucian advice, and if you’re old like me, you will ‘get’ all the irreverent jokes. Willie is a reformed B&E artist with no criminal record and a dear friend to Walt.
When Walt witnesses an injustice, he goes to his friends for advice. The cryptic advice from the Professor ultimately leads him to the Kansas City PD where he finds himself a member of the newly forming Civilian Police Patrol (CPP) after passing the tests that all police officers in Kansas City face. He is assigned a partner. George Wilson, called Ox by all. The two of them have consecutive days of good collars by dubious means, and Walt finds himself responsible for the creation of the City Retiree Action Patrol with the unfortunate acronym CRAP.
Lady Justice wearing a blindfold and holding scales hands out justice that can be ironic and often not so blind. She seems to have better luck dispensing justice when those with more life experience put their two-cents in.
I almost can’t remember the last time I so thoroughly enjoyed a book. It was like reading Stephanie Plum without cars blowing up all over the place.
Wow I love this mystery read. It keeps you inthralled to where you don’t want to put this real page Turner Dow. The Narrator does a fantastic job with the different characters. I loved the comedy as well. This would make for a great tv series. I definitely recommend.

This was such a fun read! Mostly humor with some mystery and lots of crime solving. The cast of characters is terrific. The one liners were pretty funny and of course I ended up reading much of the book aloud to my husband since my laughing was making him curious.
On to the next installment of the Lady Justice series!
This review is for the audio book.
This is the first book by this author that I have read or listened to but it won’t be the last, as I enjoyed. I loved the whole idea of retirees solving crimes, taking names and kicking butts. It did go into a lot of detail about things that you didn’t need to know to solve the cases but it did give you an idea of what it is like to be old. The book was made of lots of different case (or problems) that needed to be solved, in inventive or funny ways and I liked the way the main character didn’t always know what to do but did know someone that could help.
Walter is fired from his old job of selling houses and feeling to young to play bingo and not liking golf, he decides to revent himself. After witnessing a mugging on an old lady and feeling helpless that he couldn’t help her he uses his contacts to become a police officer. From there Walter must solve cases and prove he is fit enough to be called a policeman and he does just that with the help of some geriatric friends with questionable backgrounds. Together them form C.R.A.P
I liked the narrator and think he is perfect as the part of Walter and his friends.
I was gifted this audio book with the understanding I would leave an honest review. I have to say I laughed all the way through this book. It is rare to find a comedy mystery. The humor was guy humor but clean and fun really adding to the characters. I especially liked the wisdom of the professor, Chinese fortune cookie meets stand up comic. The narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the story to life. Will be reading more in this series.
law-enforcement, retired, murder-investigation, murder, humor, bad-puns, puntastic
What a hoot! OK, so I fit into the general demographic, so I probably get more of the horrible jokes and puns more than some. And I have worked with law enforcement, so I think that I appreciate some of it a little more as well. The characters certainly are, and the plot is busy and twisty. But bottom line is that this is a really hilarious mystery in spite of the serial killer and other serious subjects. Some of the conversation is a little iffy, and I can easily see my older grandkids doing facepalms, but there is no gratuitous erotica. If this one is any indication, I certainly will get the rest of the series!
George Kuch is perfect as the voice of Walt and his friends, a little gravelly and well cadenced.
I requested and received a free copy from the publisher, author, or narrator courtesy of AudioBookBOOM.
Walt Williams is a spunky senior who isn’t ready for retirement. What better time than now to become a cop? Follow along as Walt uses unorthodox methods to help solve crimes.
I absolutely love Robert Thornhill’s style! He knows just when to throw in a humorous line or two… and I’m still giggling.
What can I say about George Kuch’s narration… it’s amazing. He really brought all the characters to life and his timing is spot on. I can’t imagine anyone else giving voice to Walt!
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and I have voluntarily left this review.
