After five years on the police force, a bullet in the kiester from a vengeful gangbanger convinces Walt that it’s time to turn in his badge.
Walt realizes once again that retirement just isn’t his cup of tea, and with a little urging from his brother-in-law, decides to become a private investigator.
For five years he had served the Lady Justice wearing a white robe and a blindfold and … blindfold and followed the rules, but he soon discovered that the P.I. business was leading him across the line into the dark side and a completely different set of rules.
When Walt comes face to face with the Lady Justice on the dark side, dressed in a tight skirt, fishnet stockings and high heels, he is faced with decisions that will change the course of his life.

Definitely a twist on this one from the previous. I really do enjoy this crew and seeing a different point of view when reading. In this one you have lady Justice and her “sister” so we see the other side of things. I loved this book and will continue to listen to more.

Wow, I knew from previous books tha Walt Williams was getting dissolutioned with being a cop but never thought he would actually retire. I enjoyed this book but spent the whole book waiting for him to say he had changed his mind, it never came but what did was lots of bullets and rule bending. The usual gang were all present for the story and like normal it was a fun easy listen, if unexpected. I mean if Walt Willisms isn’t a cop than what is he? It was fun to see how a by the book policeman can get talked into bending rules as a P.i. Look forward to seeing how this new career path unfolds for Walt. And where it leaves Ox and the captain when he needs another under guy because for some reason I don’t think they will have seen the last of rookie cop Walt or I hope they haven’t.
With all the killings in the last book the tension is still high in Kansa City and Walt and Ox walk into an ambush which leaves Walt getting shot. Walt comes to the conclusion that enough is enough and he has probably used up all his luck that Lady Justice is willing to give him so it is time to get before he his carried out. By the first hour Walt is board and when Maggie’s brother asks for help with his P.i business, nothing dangerous just watching the back of a store for a thief Walt jumps at the chance to get away from Jerry’s jokes, Willy’s checkers and computer games. Things go smoothly and more and more people ask for help but the brother of one of the boys killed has sworn vengeance and is stalking cop and a certain ex-cop in perticually.
George Kuch has never turned in a bad performance as Walt William’s and he definitely doesn’t start with this book either.
Lady Justice on the Dark Side is my nineteenth enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. Another entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners, as always dealing with current social topics. Each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Since I own both the Audible & Kindle versions I was able to follow along while being read to. Up next is Lady Justice and the Broken Hearts. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
law-enforcement, private-investigators, surprises, humor
What goes around comes around, whether good or bad, justified or misguided. Walt retired from real estate at 65 and from the force at 70. Now he is second guessing his actions in a whole new way by becoming a private investigator. And he still has a big target on his back from a man who blames him for another’s death. Sad to say, but this one is right out of current events yet very well done. And the situational and verbal humor continue to abound!
George Kuch continues to provide the sensitive voice of the characters.
Audiobook review: This book is amazing and I loved every minute of it! It is filled with twists, turns, and surprises and is quite entertaining as Walt Williams takes on a new role. This is a great comedic mystery novel that is a compelling listen. Lots of laughs! The narrator did a great job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
Oh my! A hurricane what! As always Robert Thornhill has caught my attention and kept me entertained. I find when I read one of Roberts books I learn more about what ever topic he has chosen for the story line. In this book I got a first hand look at what a hurricane can be like. Well done again Robert. Also George Kuch does the most amazing job of narrating this series. He is the true voice of Walt Williams. Not to give anything away but the ending of this book leaves the reader wondering where this story will go next in Walt’s life
