Although this book starts with a prologue that more or less brings you up to date vis a vis the first two books, I highly recommend that you start at the beginning with book one. The prologue may give the highpoints, but you will miss out on the pop culture references and laugh out loud humor that make these books a pure delight.
LADY JUSTICE GETS LEI’D has moments of laughter, but there are far more emotional tear-jerker moments in this one. What can I say? I always cry at weddings. There is also quite a bit of commentary on the lack of American exceptionalism throughout the checkered history of the United States. Robert Thornhill is egalitarian when it comes to the characters in his books where he demands fair treatment for all. In other words, his books are all about Lady Justice and the balance achieved outside the courts of law. Reading this in 2020, with the election literally days away, may have colored my interpretation of some events.
Like the first two books, there is a lot happening and Lady Justice has her scales full. Walt and Maggie’s wedding should be the high point, but it is not. Paradise just isn’t what the travel brochures proclaim.
There are currently 43 books in this series, with 3 down and 40 to go, I have some serious reading ahead of me. As I work my way through all of them, I fully expect to laugh and cry and cherish every minute I get to spend with Walt and Maggie, Ox and Vince, Willie and Maxine, and the rest of the over-65 crowd who work with the City Retiree Action Patrol affectionately referred to as C.R.A.P.
This is definitely a Fantastic Detective and Mystery series that is very Humorous. Each book has it’s own mysteries. This would make a great Netflix addition and a great Binge listen,it is very intertwining as well as fantastic mysteries to solve. This Author really knows how to bring a fantastic listen. I definitely recommend. The Narrator does a fantastic job with the different Characters as well and listening to the book. Scenes had me laughing so hard and is definitely a real page Turner

This 3rd Lady Justice book is as good as the previous 2. There was more mystery/suspense in this story but the comedy was there as well. Walt & Maggie go to Hawaii to honeymoon and take Willie & Mary with them. What an adventure they all had. The Hawaiian history was interesting. I had never thought about how Hawaii became a state and whether everyone was happy about that. The landscape descriptions sounded so beautiful that I hope to see Hawaii in person one day. We also got to meet Walts dad. LOL
Another great addition to this series!
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this book because the author packs so much in his stories that the time just flys by and before you know it the story is over, leaving you chuckling at the memories.
Walt after Maggie , his fiancé is kidnapped by the brother of a man he put in jail decides that life is to short and at there age why put of getting married. The problem is where? Neither can decide so the fates step in and give them some very big clues that Hawaii is where they should tie the knot. It’s just a shame that lady justice has other plans for the happy couple and what starts as a nice quiet ceremony ends with a life and death honeymoon that neither of them will forget. With the help of old friends like Mary and Willie and new ones like a lizard and a Hawaiin police man the couple have to tackle a volcano, dark caves and wild jungles while in the tropical paradise. Walt will soon wish he was back home pounding the streets and arresting bad guys but even that isn’t smooth sailing when you are a 65 year old rookie cop and there is a skeleton in your walls. Oh yes and your dad has just moved into your apartment building.
I liked the narrator with his easy laid back voice just right for the character of Walt.
Hawaii here we come… to bad things don’t go smoothly for Walt and his friends.
Robert Thornhill has a way with drawing you in. Right when you think things are getting serious, he’ll throw in a zinger. I love it!
George Kuch is the perfect voice for Walt. His performance really kept me entertained.

Yet another great book in this fun, funny series. This time we find our selfs being taken to the Hawaiian Islands. Wonderful story and great narration.
abduction, action-adventure, Hawaii, relationships, relics, religious-history, humor, murder, friendship
Like a roller coaster ride! Can coincidences happen? Maybe.
Walt and Maggie are facing marriage after a lifetime of living alone, and then there is the other major thread involving them and Hawaii. Add in a few abductions, gang threats, murders, good friends, a voice from the past, a small lizard, an unbelievable amount of situational humor, and you have this book!
Once again, George Kuch does a fantastic job of differentiating characters and moods. He truly is the voice of Walt and company.
I was delighted to win this book in a contest I entered.
Audiobook review: Nothing ever goes as planned for Walter Williams and gang. The majority of the romance/mystery story takes place in a lovely location filled with rich ancient history and those that wish to protect it. The characters are likable, believable, & quite comical. The unfortunate situations that they find themselves in often are hilarious and well written. The narrator did a fantastic job. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
