Three children, a boy eight, and two six-year-old girls, see violence so terrifying that they retreat into the magical, make-believe world of Puff the Magic Dragon where they feel safe and secure. P.I. Walt Williams teams up with Lady Justice and Puff to protect the kids from vicious muggers, an abusive husband, and a sexual predator. Once again, justice is served when Walt and his senior … senior sidekicks come to the rescue.
A story filled with fears, tears, laughter, and hope.

Another great addition. I felt that this was like three stories in one and I loved that they all found their happy endings. Can’t wait to see what’s going to happen next.
This review is for the audio book.
I wasn’t sure about this book mainly because I couldn’t see how the author could get a story about dragons into the book. We have had ghosts but dragon’s? I needn’t have worried the author pulled it of brilliantly and for all the sceptics out there the Dragon is no more alive than Santa (sorry for all you believers out there I didn’t mean to spoil it for you) and I ended up really enjoying the book. Mainly because Walt and the gang are back to helping strangers in the way that only they can, with luck and humour. It turned out to be really fascinating and again the story had a serious side to the plot too, that gets you thinking long after the story has finished.
Walt stumbles on a young man who has just witnessed a mugging but it isn’t the first time the young man has witnessed violence. In fact he might be a young man but due to the tragedy he went through he is stunted at the age of eight and to survive the world he holds on tight to the Dragon necklace, the last thing his mother gave him before she died. With Walt and the Dragon can young Billy over come his troubles to live a happier life? At the same time a young woman arrives at the shelter, running away with her daughter from an abusive father. Can Billy pass on the magic of the Dragon to help the young girl in her hour of need? Next up a girl is kidnapped when her mother refuses the advances of her boss. Can Walt and the power of the Dragon once again use there powers to rescue her and bring the bad guy to justice?
George Kuch is great as the narrator and waves his own magic with just his voice. All in all another great instalment to the Lady Justice series.
As usual, this author hits upon several current topics. This book briefly touches on Medicare/Medicaid fraud and a new Opiod law and how it affects those who need them but don’t abuse them. It also touches on mental trauma that some children suffer through, domestic abuse and workplace sexual harassment.
Lady Justice and the Magic Dragon is my twenty-ninth enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. Another entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners. Throughout the book I found myself smiling a lot & at time laughing out loud. Each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Up next is Lady Justice and the Black Widow. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Audiobook review: Love that Mr. Thornhill continues to weave his fictional comedy mysteries with societal hot topics. Walt Williams and his rag tag crew of seniors never fail to come to the rescue with humor that will leave you laughing out loud while contemplating the seriousness of the topics long after the story ends. I really liked the incorporation of the book Puff the Magic Dragon story. The narrator did a nice job! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I am not sure how Robert Thornhill does it but I am so happy he does. This book hits on the Me Too movement and Domestic Violence among other issues. Roberts books always have a great deal of fun humor and a major issue most often one that has been wildly in the news. This book is no different. I think my favorite part of this book is the incorporation of the child’s book Puff the Magic Dragon. Growing up in the 60’s I had a 45 of this song and loved this story. I LOVE how Robert uses the story in this book. I don’t want to say more but read this book and you will be touched and amazed. Way to go Robert another great read or in my case great listen. Which I must say George Kuch does a incredible job of narrating again.
abuse, abusive-spouse, kidnapping, private-investigators, childhood-trauma, situational-humor, verbal-humor
The first thing a reader needs to know about any of the books in the series is that there is an abundance of humor. The second is that the humor is there to offset some rather severe realities. Brought into the sunlight this time are domestic violence and the damage it does to children and the non abusive parent. As a nurse, I do wish that it had been mentioned that sometimes that behavior is passed on and sometimes it leads to drug problems. But I give it high marks for what it does do. There are other issues addressed as well, and they are managed very, very well indeed.
George Kuch continues to be exceptional as narrator.
