For most people, a 50th class reunion is a time to party and renew old acquaintances, but Walt Williams isn’t an ordinary guy — he’s a cop, and trouble seems to follow him everywhere he goes.
Old flames, bullies and a scorned classmate make Walt’s reunion one to remember.
The Mexican drug cartel is recruiting young Latino girls as drug mules and the Kansas City Police have hit a brick … hit a brick wall until Walt is given a lead by an old classmate.
Even then, it takes three unlikely heroes from the Whispering Hills Retirement Village to help Walt and Ox end the cartel’s reign of terror.
Join Walt in a class reunion filled with mystery, intrigue, jealousy and a belly-full of laughs!

Officer Walt Williams and his partner George “Ox” Wilson, often referred to as the ‘dynamic duo,’ find themselves embroiled in one bizarre case after another. These usually result from being in the wrong place at the right time. You may ask just how a 50-year class reunion and a new drug lord in town can have anything at all to do with one another. Robert Thornhill weaves a tale with great characters that may take a somewhat circuitous route from start to finish, but it all works out in the end, and Lady Justice finds balance.
The Lady Justice series has a wonderful set of recurring characters that bind the stories into unique wholes. There are currently 44 books in the series, all of them quick reads. It is somewhat amazing that Thornhill can combine relevant issues with the humor and pathos of everyday life. I suppose you could pick up this, the 12th book in the series, and get the gist of what has come before. However, if you don’t start with the first book,
LADY JUSTICE TAKES A C.R.A.P, you will miss out on a lot of great storytelling.
Another great book with this crew with a couple different crimes to solve as well as a 50th class reunion to boot! This book has some really comical pets that will have you laughing along with it. Love it!
Robert Thornhill is my go to author for a mood elevation! This 12th book in the Lady Justice series has the same great blend of mystery, suspense and humor. The subject matter is current and thought provoking without being in your face. I love Walt and the gang!
This review is for the audio book.
I enjoyed this plot, with two main stories running though the book it has enough going on that it had me hooked from the start I like the way that Walt and his partner don’t always get it right straight away like super heros but with perseverance they get there in the end and get the bad guys. The author covers some serious subjects like bullying and drug trafficking but with his light touch you can’t help enjoying the story and even laughing at a few antics.
Walt receives a letter inviting him to a 50th year class reunion, he would rather give it a miss but his new wife wants to know more about his history and talks him into going. Walt being Walt he can’t say no to Maggie and everybody else it seems as he gets talked into putting on an Elvis show for the class, as well as decorating the hall and even being part of the cheerleading team. Of course it is not all parties and fun and Walt will have to rope in Ox to run a undercover sting on an old friend. At the same time Walt and Ox receive help from three elderly gentleman who are trying to take down a deadly drug cartel who have been using young and venerable girls to traffic the drugs for them before time runs out for them. Will secret notes and undercover stakes outs be enough to take down a ruthless cartel? Who wants to go quietly into the final good night?
I really like George as the narrator for this series with his gruff voice he never fails to entertain.
Lady Justice and The Class Reunion is my twelfth enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. Another entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners, as always dealing with current social topics. Each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Up next is Lady Justice & the Class Assassin. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
This year will be my 40th class reunion and I hope it is nothing like Walt’s 50th class reunion 🙂 This is book 12 in this series and Robert Thornhill is still making me laugh and want to know more about this cast of charaters. Once again George Kuch does a wonderful job of narrating this book. Robert and George are a great combo. Can’t wait to find out what the next adventure for Walt will be.
mystery, seniors, law-enforcement, relationships, situational-humor, verbal-humor
The wheels of Lady Justice may grind slowly, but they grind exceedingly fine. There are entwined story paths, the law enforcement problem involving drug lords in the area and the upcoming fiftieth class reunion for our hero. They converge when three of Walt’s former classmates have information they want him to have but it is not admissible in court, nor can the man who obtained it be known. Despite the serious subject matter (well, not the madness of preparing for the reunion) there is the customary hilarity and groaners. Another delightful book in the series!
I read my copies on audio, and give the print copies to our regional library as I thought it insane that a library system serving a population of 500,000 had not one listed. I know that when I have to wait for months to get a book I’ve reserved, I often head for an ebook to buy (or an audio).
George Kuch continues to be excellent as narrator.
Audiobook review: Walter ‘Walt’ Williams and crew are back to solve a couple crime mysteries and a 50th class reunion. I was entertained and laughed several times by this story. The characters are likable and believable. The super (those in their 80s) seniors show that even though you may have an advanced age you can definitely still get into trouble. The narrator did a fantastic job with providing unique voices for each character and appropriate tone inflections for each scene! I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
I have read 12 so far in this series and plan to read all of them soon.
