Wow! I thought that this book was terrific. I enjoy not being able to figure out how a book will end. This story had me on the edge of my seat almost from the beginning.
LADY JUSTICE AND THE BOOK CLUB MURDERS combines serious crime with the wit and wisdom of having lived a life. Thornton’s cast of usual characters spans several generations that gives us a varied world view. There is, of course, Walt Williams, retired real estate man who saw Lady Justice wronged and did something about it. Old enough for Medicare, he joined the Kansas City Police Department’s City Retiree Action Patrol (C.R.A.P.) where he was partnered with George Wilson, better known as Ox, with 20-plus years on the force who isn’t ready to retire. As a retiree myself, I appreciate things like Walt and Ox riding in Car 54. That kind of Easter egg makes me smile.
The idea of justice is likely to be at odds with law is ever-present in this series. Just because something is wrong, it may not be illegal, and conversely, just because something is legal doesn’t always make it right. At times, this dilemma strikes close to home for the reader and characters alike.
LADY JUSTICE AND THE BOOK CLUB MURDERS is the tenth book in the Lady Justice series. Robert Thornton has made sure that you can find out the basics of just what has happened in the previous stories. Like many series, this one deserves to be read in order from book one so you don’t miss out on the backstory of just how this community of seniors sticks together through good fortune and adversity alike.
This is a fantastic series that would make a great Netflix series. This is a fantastic Mystery series. The story flows so good that I look forward to the fantastic story in each read. And the Author always brings you new stories. And the Narrator does a fantastic job with the voices. This Author does a fantastic job and I definitely recommend this audiobook mystery.

Love it! All this series is amazing so far, but this book starts off with a bang and keeps going all the way until the end. I love the relationships between all these characters and watching the growth is so fun! Can’t wait for more!
This review is for the audio book.
I really enjoyed this book and think it is my favourite book in the series so far. I liked the way the killer thought he was out smarting the police even though they knew who he was. The story continues from were the last one ended and is told from two perceptions Walt and the Killer making it an interesting story and with the added fun of Ox (Walt’s partner) wedding to lighten the story and add humour. I also liked that I had read or knew most of the books or authors, left by the killer to taunt the cops.
The joy and celebration of Christmas and a wedding is disrupted when a serial killer starts a killing spree. Each murder is well thought out, no motive for the deaths, no connections to the killer and the only clue left behind is a book at each crime scene. As the body count rises the killer gets bolder and after targeting soft targets like the homeless and prostitutes he turns his focus to policemen and in particular to the two men hunting him down and putting a spanner in the works of him getting away with the perfect murder.
I like the narrator and with his gruff voice he sounds just like I imagine Walt to be.
Lady Justice and The Book Club Murders is my eleventh enjoyable read/listen from author Robert Thornhill. Another entertaining clean read, filled with puns & one-liners, as always dealing with current social topics. Each book in the series seems better than the last as Thornhill continues to up his game. Narrator George Kuch again adds greatly to the listening enjoyment with his wide variety of entertaining voices & inflections, Kuch IS Walt Williams! I’ll definitely be reading more from Thornhill! I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Up next is Lady Justice & the Class Reunion. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Robert Thornhill just keeps getting better and better. George Kuch does a great job once again of narrating this book. I have often thought of joining a book club but after listening to this story I might rethink that. Just kidding but this book does have murders surrounding books and a book club. Can’t wait to listen to book 11 in the series.
law-enforcement, serial-killer, humor
Entwined with the work and humor of Walt and Ox is the story of the man who wanted to commit the perfect crime, and, aided by the fellows of his book club, he embarks on a murder spree just to prove that he can. Walt and Ox are on the investigation, and there is much situational and verbal humor. The great thing about fiction, is that the bad guy usually gets caught. I love this series so much, that I get my personal copy as audio (George Kuch is great as narrator), and then am buying the print copies to share with a friend or two before donating them into the stacks at our local library which shares them with the whole county.
Audiobook review: I adore this series. Officer Walter Williams and gang once again find themselves smack dab in the middle of two mysteries and planning nuptials. The characters are funny, believable, and relatable. The storyline is captivating, entertaining, and enjoyable. The narrator does such a fantastic job!
I have read 12 so far in this series. All have been good. Plan to read the rest soon.
