This was a delightful story by Cerise Deland. I loved the characters of Fiona and Rory and their second chance together.
Great Series Starter!
Can the same two people fall on love with each other, twice? Well, yes, according to this story definitely yes! And a wonderful romancing happened to Lady Fiona by her beloved, Rory.
Very nicely written with many uncertainties having to be sorted out and the past put to rest. I loved these two well matched characters!
I have just finished reading an Advance Reader Copy (ARC) of the ebook and recommend it. This is a great start to a new series.
My review above is given voluntarily and is unbiased.
A wonderful and delightful story. Rory and Fiona met at a masquerade party. They fell in love at first sight. It was not to last, he had to go back to his unit and she had to go home to a very lonely and unhappy existence. Her father had died and she took care of her mother who had dementia and could be very violent. He returned from the war six years later. Both his father and older brother had died. He needed to assume the title. She had enjoyed being with Charlton. He was so different from other men, caring, gentle, and loving.
It was an enjoyable read. It was well written and held your attention. The characters were realistic and engaging. I loved the book. When she hurt her ankle in an accident Charlton would lift her into his arms and take her where she had to go, So romantic. They talked and with his mother he was patiently waiting for her to tell her tale. I highly recommend this novel.
I received this ARC from the author and voluntarily reviewed it.
They met six years ago at a masquerade and fell in love at first sight. The meeting they arranged didn’t work out, and they can’t contact each other. Why? Neither of them knows the other’s name. When Rory rescues Fiona from a coach accident, they recognize each other. Will being together at the house party give them a second chance? Things look good until Fiona learns that Rory is now the Earl of Charlton, the head of a family that her father counted an enemy. Why is there such animosity between the families? Will the answer tear them apart?
This fast-paced story is filled with emotion, drama, secrets. There are also some lighthearted and romantic moments between Rory and Fiona. Getting to know these two delightful people made me root for their happily ever after. Wrapped up in the sweet love story and discovering what caused the trouble between the families, I could not put this book down. There are several interesting side stories (other stories in the series?). I enjoyed this one and happily recommend it.
A tale of secret loves, stolen kisses, mistaken identities, and a devastating family secret. I enjoyed the ARC of this book.
A secret that could affect their love, a monster, a demented mother and a house party. Could that all possibly go together? Well, you can guess the answer. Yes, it can and this story is a whirlwind that will have you reeling with what can possibly happen next. Rory and Fiona find a second chance at love but along the way everything happens. They are such a sweet and cute couple (even with her glasses not being on to help her out). This story is just fun and a great read for an afternoon. We do get glimpses of the other couples in the series and I am so looking forward to those stories.

This is the first in a new series & what a fun entertaining read it was, I read it in a sitting. I loved both Rory & Fifi who fell for each other six years ago but then meet again & find the spark is still there. The road to their HEA was strewn with obstacles from misunderstandings to vents involving their parents. The moral of the story has to be if you need glasses wear them!! Fast paced with delightful characters & it made an afternoon in lockdown fly by
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This was a fast paced book. The plot brought a good interest to the book. Fiona a Rory love affair took off like a bolt of lightning. The writer shared the idea of having the love of Fiona’s life with her from the beginning to the end of the book. I really like Rory’s character. And I truly did love Fiona’s character as I have read any others like hers from the Victorian era. This was a great choice of personality to choose for a woman during this time. I look forward to more lady characters like this.
I voluntary reviewed this ARC a free gifted copy.

My review :
This novella is the introduction story in a new series, where a group of friends will find their lasting love.
Fiona and Rory missed their chance a few years back when she mistook him for someone else and him did not recognize her after a lovely encounter during a masquerade party.
Now, years later, it is instant recognition. And while life did go on, and there might be many hurdles standing between them, both are very decided to not loose the second chance at love.
At no moment there is doubt about their fast and deep attachment, it is more the past that come between them, one they do not know but weight heavily on their families’ history.
This story is a fast paced one as once they are reunited Rory refuses to let go of Fiona. She is the one woman he wants and nothing will make him sway his opinion. Yet, the shadows from their past is what might daunt their feelings.
I loved Rory, once he is assured his sentiments are returned, he won’t back down, he goes for the win and Fiona’s heart he will win. While he is full of understanding, he also knows who he wants more in his life.
Fiona has learned to hide herself to avoid her family’s wrath, still she longs to be seen and Rory is the first to really see her. She does not want to merely exist, she wants to be and with him, she is.
Their romance is so sweet, one of healing and forgiveness as both carry their father’s deeds.
4.25 stars.

What a wonderful story! Lady Fiona’s Tall, Dark Folly will hold you spellbound. It’s an unforgettable Regency romance with a strong plot, remarkable emotions, witty banter, with well-developed characters and a story line that will keep you interested the moment you begin the journey with Charlton and Fiona until the very end! Having met during a masquerade ball six years ago Fiona can’t stop thinking about him. Charlton meet a lady at a masquerade ball and finally finds her when her coach breaks down and he rescues her and her friend. Both have emotional scars of their pasts and as they to open their hearts to their awakening passions in this heart felt story filled with drama, uncertainties, secrets, trials and tribulations, turmoil and a family fued that can destroy their happiness! Cerise DeLand has outdone herself with this novel that is a must read!
They met years ago over a game of cards, but Fifi and Rory missed their chance basically over a pair of spectacles. Now Rory’s finished with the army and has the title, Lord Charlton. Meeting once again after a carriage accident on their way to a May Day Frolic and a wedding, Rory isn’t going to let Fifi get away, even if a secret could tear them apart. A cute couple who can’t keep their hands off each other. Gifted a copy of this book by the author
