This is Fiona’s 2nd novel, a historical Regency romance of 50,000 words (around 200 pages).

Lady Charlotte’s Ruined Marquess is a fantastic historical romance by Fiona Miers. Ms. Miers has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with a stellar cast of characters. Archie, the second son of the Marquess of Hunting, is informed that his brother is dying from the dreaded French disease and to keep himself clean. That’s how he ends up a 27 year old virgin. Charlotte has known Archie for years and after a waltz wonders if he’s as unfeeling as she always thought. Charlotte and Archie’s story is packed with drama, humor, spice and suspense. I enjoyed reading this book and look forward to reading more from Fiona Miers in the future. Lady Charlotte’s Ruined Marquess is book 2 of The Heir and a Spare Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Good read
Decent story, and the fact that this is probably the only romance book I’ve ever read (and I’ve read a LOT) where the hero was a virgin. That was super refreshing and you should probably read the book for that alone. It makes a lot about the whole story more unique and fun, for example all the sex scenes with two virgins discovering each other, rather than the usual rake-deflowers-virgin-woman trope. And I was there for it.
The “misunderstanding” between them was original and made good plot sense as well, only in the last 20% of the book did I feel the story dragging with the usual thoughts of “ok, come on, just tell each other the truth and talk about your feelings so we can move on with our lives”. But that’s pretty good because there are plenty of books where I am thinking that from page one.
So basically, hop on the virgin dude train and give this book a shot.
For once a complete story to the end. The main characters and friends are just too loveable. The author captured the male thoughts to the T. The situations occurring between the main characters are very well written funny, witty, sensual, and poignant Great atmosphere of the period.
I didn’t think it was much of a story except for how people acted toward STDs. If you enjoy sex scenes there are plenty. Fast read.
This is an historical romance set in Britain. A second son inherits the title Marquess, but it comes with a large scandal. He does not want to involve his love Charlotte in his life because of the scandal. Hero and heroine must overcome obstacles to live a happy life together. Recommend.
Really enjoyed this book.
A bit of a different plot
More like a sex manual than a story
Wow Charlotte had more back bone then most men especially in this time frame where women had no rights. She knew what she wanted and she wanted a male virgin which was very hard to find in London or she would stay a spinster. Archie was the second son of nobility and he stayed a virgin because his eldest brother came down with syphilis which developed into an early death. Due to this scandal of the eldest son Archie felt that it was his duty to hide his family shame and scandal to the ton. Once Charlotte found her virgin man she would stop at no lengths to snag him even with the help of her friend Sarah the vicar daughter that became a Duchess who coached her how to seduce a man.
It was like someone took a few bawdy paragraphs and stuck them in a book written for teenagers! There is just barely something resembling a plot! I can’t recommend this book.
Wonderful addition to the series.
Good plot and great end.
