1. A LADY’S MYSTERY – 4 STARS
It took me awhile to feel a connection to the H/h. He wanted a wife, without feelings being involved because he wanted a different marriage than his parents had. The h didn’t like the H because he came across as arrogant. So most of the story is based on this.
No kisses, clean story, little on romance, more on a mystery why the H gets sick when he is close to the h. Like many others I thought of 3 possible villains.
Some suspense, no cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little on romance and no spice.
2. THE SHADOWS – 3.25 STARS
It bothered me that the h’s friends, either referred to each other as Lady this or Miss that. Because of that it was hard to see them as friends. They did this even when in their homes, just was off to me.
There is some suspense, little romance, CLEAN story with a couple kisses.
The H’s brother is an awful man with many people wanting him dead. This story is how the 5 friends form a group to solve any manner of things.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, little romance and no spice.
3. UNSUITABLE BETROTHAL – 4.5 STARS
This has been my favorite of the series so far
Many surprises in this story and twists. A lot happens in the end which felt somewhat rushed. The h overhears something and I felt the h/H blew it all out of proportion. Even after the H realizes he didn’t feel what he said, he kept apologizing – overkill. But, putting that aside I truly enjoyed all the twists and turns this mystery provided.
This is a stand alone story, but as with most series, many cross over character’s. This is a clean story, with only a few sweet kisses.
No cheating, no cliffhanger for our couple. Not really sure about the ending for one of the secondary character’s. HEA and a small amount of romance. I still don’t care how the “FRIENDS” do not call each other by their first names, even when alone.
4. MYSTERY FOR THE EARL – 3.25 STARS
If you are a stickler for Regency Rules to be followed, you maybe disappointed. The h is alone with the H through most of the story with no consequences. The h talks down to the H and he is an Earl. Granted the H is very arrogant and it is hard to like him.
There is some suspense, awakening moments for the H when he realizes what type of person he is. I just didn’t feel a connection to the H/h. I can’t call this a romance story either, because the h dislikes the H throughout most of the story. We have only one tame kiss.
I figured out who the villain(s) were, so no surprises. The H at times was a coward and wanted to stay in the h’s home. The h’s father is clueless that he has a man living in his house for weeks.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA – you assume they are going to marry, no romance and no spice.
5. LORDS AND SECRETS – 4.5 STARS
Romance is not in this story or the others very much. There is suspense and mystery to keep you entertained. The h is not a character I warmed too and the H at times seemed weak. But, the story was engaging and had many elements to it.
I did figure out who the villain was but still the journey to solve the mystery didn’t lessen the story for me.
No cheating, no cliffhanger, HEA, no romance or spice, but a story I did enjoy. (ljb)
