Lachlan’s Heart continues The MacCulloughs series. I loved Black Richard’s Heart and was excited to have the opportunity to read this one. I was far from being disappointed. I adored Keevah and Lachlan. What a beautiful story. I loved every single word.
Lachlan’s Heart is getting a very well deserved five plus stars from me. I highly recommend it for readers who enjoy reading Scottish Historical Fiction. I am looking forward to reading more from The MacCulloughs series in the future.
I received Lachlan’s Heart from the author, but was not required to write a review. This review is one hundred percent my own honest opinion.
“Love is, at the best of times, an odd business.” Such is the story of Lachlan and Keevah, an unexpected love that came about between two lonely people, when times were troubled. Maybe the best way to grow that feeling was in friendship and talking with each other. One morning Lachlan woke up and realized he loved her. “Beauty fades but a warm heart will last forever.”
But circumstances changed when he was given the task to act as interim chief and laird of a new holding they had just acquired in battle. But he had to convince Keevah to be his wife. The problem was she did not feel worthy due to her past life.
Wow, this journey took and and was full of suspense, a murderer, secrets and Lachlan’s heart that is captured by Keevah. Will they ever be together? Sigh
Love, loved Lachlan’s Heart!! It was full of romance, love, mystery and adventure. I love that you could feel the character’s passion and emotions as if they were your own. The added mysteries to the plotline had me on the edge of my seat. I could not put this book down once I started it! Thank you Ms Tisdale for another wonderful adventure.
Lachlan MacCullough has had many changes in his life recently he never thought to be in charge of Laird Black Richard’s large holding until his son is old enough to take charge. Lachlan knew he must tell Keevah of his feeling and ask her to marry him and move with him. Keevah lives under the shadow of her past life, the clan call her the auld whore. She doesn’t feel fit to be Lachlan’s wife, he needs a better woman to be by his side. One who will not bring him shame? As fate would have it they meet at the again far away from home in a brothel. They soon realize there’s a deranged killer on the loose killing prostitutes and Keevah’s life is in danger. A captivating story of two people desperately in love navigating life, love and acceptance. I have voluntarily read and reviewed these excellent story filled with intrigue, mystery and romance.
4.25 STARS
Certainly is packed with suspense, murder, violence and mystery. Some things are left in the air hopefully to be answered in the next story.
This is going to be hard to explain since not doing spoiler’s. The secret our h held and her decision was unsatisfactory to me, left me wanting more detail. When did the best friend marry? Why make this decision when he was an awful man and you THOUGHT he would change.
There is a serial killer but was he working alone? What drove him? Will there be revenge against the trouble another clan caused?
I read book 1 and really enjoyed it, but this can be a stand alone. There isn’t a lot of romance because the h/H are apart for most of the story. When they do meet up again, they are trying to solve a murder, so little time for romance.
This is pretty much a clean story. Has one kiss and lovemaking with the bedroom door practically shut.
Ms Tisdale is a very gifted story telling. Her character’s jump off the page and she certainly has plenty of twists and suspense. No cliffhanger for our couple, but some things are up in the air with others. I’m wondering if we have more than one person alive we thought dead. Just a weak hunch – lol.
No cheating, not a pure h and I may have liked her more if her previous profession wasn’t her choosing, smart and loyal H who handled himself well from beginning to end.
I was gifted an advanced copy, all opinions are my own and freely given. (ljb)
I’ve been waiting for Keevah’s story and Ms Tisdale did not disappoint with this book. Lachlan is tasked with being the Laird of the unruly and hostile Chisolms. He has a huge task ahead of him. He asked Keevah to marry him before he left but she refused because she felt he deserved better than “auld whore” for a wife. He plans to return and convince her in a few weeks but things are worse than he thought. There is action, suspense, a serial killer, a overeager deputy, a lazy no good sheriff, a house of ill repute, Keevah’s big secret, and Lachlan’s heart that is determined to have Keevah.
Lachlan’s Heart: Book Two of The MacCulloughs Kindle Edition by Suzan Tisdale (Kindle Edition)
I can’t say enough about this book. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen and at the same time I did not want it to end. This Is Lachlan and Keevah’s story. We catch up with old friends from BLACK RICHAR’S HEART:Book 1 in this series. We have a very strong H and h. This book has all the feels and more, laughter, tears both kinds, angst, horror with a deranged killer all to get us to their very HEA. Still Suzan has left us with a little mystery to be solved
This story had many of the elements that have made me addicted to Suzan Tisdale’s books. A brave, roguish, highland warrior taming a conquered clan, while coming to the rescue of his stubborn lady love, and falling under the spell of a beautiful, precocious 5 year old girl had me totally hooked from page one. The ending however, was somewhat disappointing, felt rushed and left me with too many unanswered questions.
3.5 Star: Disappointed; Can’t Called It A Romantic Story:
I was disappointed in the story only because it could have been a 5 star read if it had some romance and interaction between the hero Lachlan and Keevah. There just wasn’t enough connection and charisma to call this a romance story.
The plot was more about clan interactions and murder mystery. A gruesome villain. I skipped over reading his inner thoughts. Very disturbing and his demise didn’t finish in the epilogue. Left me hanging only to guess he’s coming back?
The basic story was good, the characters very interesting but it needed romance and somethings were left undone. I can’t even say that they found their HEA the way the epilogue finished the story.
The cover was beautiful and deserves 5 Star
Each time I read about The Tickled Pickle I laughed out loud.
I loved the healer Thomas. I could have enjoyed more of him.
All in all a good well written story just not complete or enough happy romance.
