This is time travel romance with a paranormal twist. There’s medieval Scotland and kilts, but there’s also evil, near-immortal vampires, who were once soldiers in the lost Ninth Legion (a nice touch), as well as a near-immortal hero. I really loved the heroine of this book, Kinley. Here’s my favourite quote from her: “I’m not a lass … I’m a captain in the United States Air Force.” There are dark themes and the romance scenes ARE sizzling and maybe too many of them — but what a rip-roaring read!
This is not your typical time travel adventure. Kinley is a strong woman who travels into the past. I enjoyed her being a woman who can hold her own. This was a great historical time travel book. I can’t wait to read the rest of the Immortal Highlander series.
Loved this book.Great author, will definitely read other books in this series.
Too sexually graphic for me Sorry.
I don’t usually go for stories with the undead So this was not the best choice for me And I somehow missed that Information when I Got the book.
The characters were predictable/flat, even though it seemed the author decided to throw so many plot elements at the wall to see what would stick, e.g. time-travel with highlanders, vampires, Vikings, PTSD.
The story was interesting but the detailed sexual encounters were too much. I skip read a lot of the book. Interesting premise but lost me in goulash undead.
Too bizarre to follow. Didn’t like
If I could give this book negative stars, I would. Ridiculous plot, poorly written.
I didn’t like the immortal aspect. Couldn’t relate
It was an unusual book and really jolted my mind! There was a lot of action there that was different and puzzling. A challenge!
While I found the storyline held my interest, I should have paid more attention to the previous reviews. Instead of stating the plot was “dark” I feel it should have read that a good 50% of my time would be wasted flipping past graphic sexual situations, many obscene. It’s a shame as the premise of the story could have been expanded upon without the X-rated filler. I gave my review 2 stars as a whimsical hint of a story was buried in there but I won’t be reading anything by this author in the future.
Hazel Hunter has a fun time with developing the story for Lachlan. I love the romance, the druids and Vikings. The undead are interesting warriors. Keeps the story entertaining and moving. There are sequels too……
Building a unique world. Kick a** heroine.
This story was romantic, passionate, steamy. It didn’t have to use crude words.
Love the series
Not my kind of book…I like time travel but want tnem realistic
I just can’t resist those Highlanders!
Hard to read. Not my style.
I was so disgusted I couldn’t finish it.
