From “one of the bonafide rock stars of the thriller genre” (The Real Book Spy) comes another tour de force in the #1 New York Times bestselling FBI Thriller series following agents Savich and Sherlock as they stumble into a bizarre case that’s more complicated and twisted than any they’ve ever encountered. On a Tuesday afternoon, Agent Sherlock is driving in downtown Washington when her Volvo … driving in downtown Washington when her Volvo is suddenly T-boned at an intersection. As her car spins out of control, a man’s body slams against her windshield and then–blackness. When she finally regains consciousness in the hospital, she’s told about the accident and the man she struck. No one knows yet who he is or where he is because he ran away. From DNA, they discover his name is Justice Cummings and he’s a CIA analyst at Langley…and he’s still missing.
Meanwhile, in the small town of Gaffer’s Ridge, Virginia, Special Agent Griffin Hammersmith rescues a kidnapped woman claiming her captor had probably murdered three missing teenage girls. However, the man she accuses is the local sheriff’s nephew and a member of a very powerful family, reputed to have psychic powers. When the sheriff arrests Griffin and the rescued woman, Carson DaSilva, he calls Savich for help. Together they have to weave their way through a labyrinth of lies to find the truth of a terrible secret.
“If there’s one thing that readers can count on in a Coulter novel it is that she always delivers amazingly eerie and complex thrillers” (RT Book Reviews), and Labyrinth is no different. With white-knuckled pacing and shocking twists and turns, this is another electrifying novel that will sink its teeth in you.

Labyrinth is the latest FBI Thriller about Dillon Savich and Lacey Sherlock and I loved every moment of the book. Catherine Coulter has once again delivered an amazing story. I love the story within the story that has become Catherine’s trademark. Lacey is driving in her car when she is struck broadside by a car running a red light. As her car is spinning out of control, she hits a man, Justice Cummings. When Sherlock regains consciousness, she is suffering from amnesia. She does not remember anything about herself, her life, Dillon, or Sean. While this is happening in Washington, DC, Griffin Hammersmith is in Gaffer’s Ridge, VA for some much needed vacation. While walking around after Gaffer’s Ridge after eating lunch, he telepathically hears someone calling for help. Griffin rescues Dr. Carson DiSalvo from her kidnapper Rafer Bodine. Rafer kidnaps Carson after she telepathically hears him grumbling about three missing teen age girls. After the rescue, Griffin and Carson find themselves in jail for assaulting Rafer. Rafer’s uncle is Booker Bodine, the Gaffer’s Ridge sheriff. So Griffin and Carson start investigating the kidnappings and Rafer’s involvement. Dillon and Lacey offer help to Griffin, then return home to investigate all the mystery surrounding Lacey’s accident. It was a great story and a page turner. I could not put it down. I love the surprise twists that Catherine always adds to her books. Love that everything is resolved in the end.
4.25 STARS
In this 23rd installment to author Catherine Coulter’s FBI series, Savich & Sherlock find themselves embroiled in yet another twisted, complicated case that appears to be linked to the car accident that has left Sherlock with a concussion and amnesia. At the same time, Special Agent Griffin Hammersmith finds his vacation in Gaffer’s Ridge, Virginia, interrupted by a bizarre case involving the kidnapping of several young women, where the prime suspect comes from a powerful family and is the nephew of the local sheriff.
Right out of the gate, the events surrounding Sherlock’s car accident and the intriguing circumstances that enveloped Griffin in Gaffer’s Ridge, had captured my attention, drawing me into this story. However, as the story continued to unfold, it did so at a sluggish rate, and I found myself disengaging on several occasions.
Overall, both cases were interesting and absorbing, but some of the peculiar aspects of the Gaffer’s Ridge case was a bit over-the-top for my tastes. Nevertheless, I found “Labyrinth” to be an enjoyable read and another great installment to one of my favorite series.
Fantastic writer, fabulous reading, great characters!
This is another well thought out story with characters that you’ve met before (if you’ve read her other books). Even if you haven’t met them, the author develops them well. The twists and turns may keep you guessing. If you like to read about small town injustices, you’ll like this book. I almost gave up on it, because I got so frustrated with the small town mindset of everyone protecting each other. If that is your problem, too, stay with the book. The ending is satisfying and justice is served.
The is FBI Thriller #23 and it is non stop action. It is always a treat to visit with Savich and Sherlock and the dual plots in this book was exciting. On one hand you have possible espionage and national security on the line and on the other hand you have multiple kidnappings of teenage girls. The book start out with a car accident which gives Sherlock a concussion and amnesia. A car crashes into her car and in her spin out a man running from pursuit get hit by Sherlock’s car. What could be a simple accident turns into a mystery when the running man works for the CIA. The secondary plot is no less compelling with psychic overtones and Special Agent Griffin Hammersmith rescueing a woman in peril. I don’t want to give away anymore of the story, except to say that it is a wild ride.. I couldn’t put this book down and finished it in one sitting.
Thank you Netgalley and Gallery Pocket Books for this ARC.
Two stories, both serious on their own work together to form a labyrinth of deceit, lies and dead ends in searching for the truth and resolution.
One story is of struck by the kidnapping of a teen girl with no leads but the coincidence of two other missing teen girls from neighboring towns. Enter a psychic woman with the power to affect minds. In the other story, a master plan to infiltrate and spy on the Federal Reserve meeting in order to benefit financially from the outcome. Through it all, Lacey Sherlock has amnesia caused by a car wreck involving another victim of the spying ring.
Tense moments abound with you wondering what is going to happen next and to whom.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What an adventure. You have two different cases going on this book. You add to that Sherlock’s amnesia and it makes for an interesting book to read. Though Sherlock can’t remember anything she still has a brilliant mind. We head to a small town where Griffin is on vacation for all of 5 seconds before he’s thrown into a new case. Dillon does everything to help Griffin while trying to figure out another mystery happening right in Washington, DC. All the while hoping Sherlock comes back to herself. The amount of love Dillon has for Sherlock makes you hope that more men like him are out there. These are great cases to try and solve. Is the next book out yet, haha?!?!

Labryinth is the action packed 23rd installment of the well known FBI series. I have admired Agent Lacey Sherlock since I first met her character in the Maze over 20 years ago and my admiration grew even more in this book. The book opens with an accident that catches Sherlock unaware and leaves the team with a mystery to solve, even as they wonder if Sherlock will ever be the same. As is common with the FBI series, there a parallel story with Agent Hammersmith, who is supposed to be on vacation, but accidentally stumbles on a case. Full of hold your breath suspense, this story is everything you would expect from an FBI- Sherlock/Savich story and more.
Thankful for the opportunity to read this ARC of Labryinth through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This is the 23 book in this series and I am so glad that she has gone back to this series! Loved that the original people from the earlier books were all in here so nice to see where they all ended up. In this one sherlock ends up with amnesia after she is in a car accident in which she hit a CIA agent that belonged to Bexholt Communications Security. Part of this book is about the ins and outs of the CIA agent and troubles with the Russians and unscruppalous people from the security firm. Sherlock goes away to a small hick town with Savich to try and get her memory back while helping him try to solve the disaperance of six young teenagers. while there Savich hears a girl screaming for help in his mind and try’s to help her while dealing with small mind mentalities. After being arrested he calls in the big guns to help clear him and deal with all the problems. Very smoothly written couldn’t put it down until I finished it! Now I have to wait for the next book!! Strong storyline and well developed characters and world building. Can be read as a stand alone but I enjoyed it more knowing the other characters from other books. Well worth reading.
This starts off with quite a bit of action, plenty of mystery and then a twist with Sherlock that had me instantly drawn into this book. I loved the initial scenes with Dillon and her as well as the problem they are facing, primarily Sherlock. And I settled down for a thrilling thriller.
Suddenly, the scene changes and we are with Griffin and Carson. These two share a common gift that leads them into quite a mystery as well as some paranormal kind of activity. While the writing became stilted at this point, I was invested enough to ignore it.
Unfortunately, I had to wade through a lot of characters who had nothing to do with the story, as well as unnecessary information and repetition. Everything began to lag. I set it aside hoping I’d feel it more the next time I picked it up. Nope. Didn’t happen. I began to skim. I skimmed some more. I eventually managed to dig out the nuggets of the story and enjoyed it despite the work I had to put in to do so.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I read Enigma by this same author and absolutely loved everything about it. I was expecting the same type of writing as well as a wicked twisty plot. There are definitely some twists, but I was exhausted by the time I reached them.
I understand that this author is a fan favorite and I’m hundred percent sure my response to this book is entirely a “me” thing. I’m sure her diehard fans are going to love this one. I’m just sorry to say it didn’t work for me.

Well you have made a slam dunk with this book! I couldn’t put it down. I was so mesmerized by everything that was happening. I love reading Catherine’s books and this one is right there at the top! I would love to be able to “shine“ a few people. I can’t wait until the next book to come out! Thanks Catherine!
