Emma Sanders has always dreamt of being a bride, wearing fancy gowns, pretty pearls, and—of course—falling madly in love. Then life happened. Finding herself one fiancé short of her happily ever after, she leaves the fairytales behind. Some days are simply too perilous for pink gowns and pearls.
Riley Lockhart is the sort of man who can make a woman lower her gaze with only a smile. That he … That he doesn’t realize his charm makes him all the more enchanting. Determined to save Emma the pain of her breakup, he steps in as a friend, but soon finds himself wanting more.
She was just a girl, but she somehow winds up being the strongest woman he’s ever known. Losing her is not an option and when life can’t be tied neatly in a pretty little bow, he holds tight to all that he loves most in this world—his Emma. His hero.
Sometimes the greatest scars are worn on the inside.

What a beautiful, poignant story of love, devotion, despair. Life throws a curveball at the one person Riley found to spend the rest of his life with. His determination to keep Emma happy, He continually lets her know how much she is loved every day. How beautiful and strong she is. This story has laugh out loud moments, tender loving moments, and feelings of hopelessness.
Brian Callanan is a phenomenal narrator. He brings depth to each character. I can feel each moment of emotion, anguish, anger, torment, throughout the story. Thank you for bringing this story to life.

A Beautiful Story & Listen Compelling & Heartfelt
La Vie en Rose: Life in Pink
By: Lydia Michaels
Narrated by: Brian Callanan
Wow, this book just blew me away, it is a beautifully written and told story that captivated both my attention and my heart from start to end. Lydia Michaels is a gifted author, she created complex characters and storylines that are realistic, easy to related to and connect with. I adored the lead characters in this book, this is mainly Emma Sanders and Riley Lockhart’s story but his sister Rarity is a big part of their story as well. The three are roommates in a loft apartment in NYC, Riley, his sister Rarity and her best friend Emma. Emma’s fiancé, Becket Grayson, breaks her heart when he tells her he is in love with someone else. Rarity had to leave for a job but she told Riley to keep an eye on Emma who was all torn up. Riley was not thrilled about that but he wound up being the perfect person to keep her busy and distract her from her sorrow and heartbreak. I loved these two together, loved the friendship they built and how they bonded, they were great together and for each other. And when life throws curve balls Emma’s way he became her rock, sure it was not easy but got the strength and determination to not only be by her side but to give her the strength she needed. This is one beauty of a book, the story is flows naturally and is well plotted and includes many momentous moments. There is plenty of drama, heartfelt and emotional moments, in this book, as well as a wonderful romance. Lydia Michaels, thank you for this amazing story and the emotional rollercoaster ride.
I listened to the Audible edition, Brian Callanan is a fabulous narrator and versatile voice artist. He brings the characters to life, giving each their own distinct voice, making it easy to follow along and who is who. His portrayal of the characters is spot on, grasping each of their personas and playing their roles with perfection. You could hear how much heart he puts into his work as he captures the characters emotions and projects them into into his performance. He is an entertaining storyteller and talented voice artist. Thank you for another awesome listen

At first I thought this was going to be your typical best friends brother romance and boy was I ever so wrong. We first meet Emma, Riley and Rarity in their shared NYC apartment. When Emma gets dumped by her fiancé and she goes into a downward spiral, everything she thought she would/should be went up in smoke. Rarity tries to pull her friend out of her funk, but has to leave on a business trip, she asks her brother Riley to keep an eye on Emma. During this time, Riley makes Emma see who she really is and not what society thinks she should be, and they fall in love. As their love is new, Emma has a devastating health scare and feels she is not good enough for Riley. Riley does everything in his power to make Emma realize she is worth it, but can Emma leave the past behind and realize that she only has this moment now and the chance at wonderful things in the future? This book has all of the feels, it will take you on a roller coaster of emotions and it makes you think well after the story is over.
This is the kind of love story we all need. It’s funny, uplifting, and sexy as hell. The interplay between the characters had me laughing out loud. This story is utterly fantastic.
La Vie En Rose is now on my favorite books list!! I can’t describe in words the impact this story had for me. It gave me all the feels and I was on a rollercoaster full of emotion at times. I felt like I knew the characters in real life and could feel their happiness and sadness.
Riley is a man that women dream of having in their lives. He’s funny, handsome, loyal, strong, loving, and has has a big heart eventhough you wouldn’t think so in the beginning. Emma is sweet, beautiful, strong, a heart of gold, and that girl next door type. They grew up in different worlds with Riley from a rich family and Emma from a middle class family but they’re perfect for each other. The love that blossoms between them is the kind people dream of. Life is not always full of roses and you have to deal with unforeseen situations. This story is not just a wonderful love story but how they get through a life altering situation.
Lydia Michaels did a phenomenal job with this book!! There is so much detail and you really understand each character, how they feel, and who they are. I loved the main characters and secondary character, Rarity the third roommate, which was Riley’s sister and Emma’s best friend. She’s full of spunk and added so much to the book. This was a story full of heart!!! It’s a definite Must Read!!I know I will be rereading it again!
This was another solid offering from this author! Emma lives with her best friend Rarity and Rarity’s brother Riley. Emma is dumped by her fiance and Riley is stuck taking care of her when Rarity goes out of town. The relationship between Emma and Riley is a slow moving get to know you better type. When things are going well between them, they are hit with the ultimate test to any relationship. I really enjoyed reading their love story.
Thank you for the privilege of reading this book! Well done
Lydia Michaels has a real talent for giving us beautiful, emotionally charged stories with very real problems and La Vie en Rose is definitely at the top of that list.
Riley and Emma’s story is heartbreaking realistic ,but beautifully executed.
La Vie En Rose is one of the most beautifully written, inspiring, compelling, emotional and funny romances and so much more. Emma who has such a beautiful heart was planning her wedding when her fiance broke it off. Her roommate Rarity has to leave for a week and leaves their other roommate Riley to look out for Emma who is heartbroken. Riley and Emma fall for each other, then there is a crisis This is not just a love story, but what it means to love unconditionally to support and be a rock for the one you love. Riley who is the most amazing man and a hero like no other who gathers all his strength and courage to support and care for Emma along with his sister. Rarity is also such an amazing character who is not afraid to stick to her beliefs and lifestyle. There are funny moments and moments that will tear at your heart. This is so much more than just a romance, as the author inspires you to look at the toxins in the food we eat and the products we use and understand just how dangerous they are. Our three main characters find a beautiful way to help others. The author also gives us links to charitable giving, organizations that can be helpful in times of need. I think this story could help those going through similar circumstances to see that survival is possible. I absolutely love this brilliant story and look forward to reading more of this author’s work
This story is one that will have you in tears as you feel Emma and Riley’s pain. It also has you have through the good times. The chemistry is strong and the love is stronger. It is completely realistic and draws you in so deeply it feels as if it is you or a close friend going through all. It is extremely well written and the support characters are fantastic. They add so much to the story. This is a story that is a must read!!!! It is beautiful and passionate where it leaves you with a smile on your face and new lease on life.
I feel blindsided. I Love the Male POV opening. I Love Riley! His POV was life! I almost stopped reading around 49%. This book should say somewhere in the blurb that this is about cancer. Cancer patients read a lot of books. They don’t want to read about cancer. What if one read this book without any warning. I’m an oncology nurse and if I knew this book was about cancer I wouldn’t have read it. I hate to read these books because their are a lot of mistakes made. I’m not happy about several that I found. It was a step by step breast cancer journey. This book was spot on at the emotional turmoil a patient and their family go thru.
What beautiful story La Vie en Rose was! This story has some great humor, but the story is one that will make you hurt along with the characters. This touching story is one of the ugly truth and realization of sickness and the fight for survival. Riley and Emma’s love story and journey is one of the dedication and support of loved ones while trying to fight to live. Their HEA love story is one that you definitely want to read!
Although this is a work of fiction, it could be any woman’s worst nightmare come true. It deals with betrayals, cheating, self worth, doubt, image, character, strengths, weakness, health, sickness, financial hardships, and so much more. Mostly, it’s about true , finding that one person who will stand & dance with you in the rain. A person who will document your journey be it pictures, music, journals, etc. Love you all the more. Warning an emotional ride inside the cover, well worth the trip.
