REVIEW: 4.5 STARS
“I want to text you every day and talk to you every night.”
The minute I read this synopsis, I knew I had to read it. I am always looking for the next rockstar book to make me fall in love with the genre again. Some are hit and miss, but I keep coming back for more. Well, I feel like this hit every rockstar fantasy that I could think of. Grand gestures, a realization that you’re the one, being swept up in the whirlwind of a high profile romance. I loved it all!! I am still smiling while I am writing my review. What a great book!
I love the way J Nathan pulled me in with this one. The synopsis obviously had me excited for how the book was going to go, but knowing how she has written before, I wondered how she was going to get the story across with the grit it needed. A rockstar and a college student? I mean, c’mon. If you think about it, that would be a very difficult thing. Studying, tests, world tours, traveling, love, drama….and other women. Mmm mmm. Newp. That was going to get hairy pretty quickly – AND I WAS HERE FOR IT!! (I’m still smiling)
While the story was getting set up, the meeting between Kozart and Aubrey was nothing short of smile inducing and giggle producing. I absolutely adored their meeting and their banter was spot on!!! It was completely pivotal to the entire storyline – but also what carried it throughout, and that made me . Their dynamic worked so well for me. I didn’t question much, and if I tried to – there was a viable explanation immediately following. I just loved the flow of the book, the story, the love…ALL of it!! It made my day reading this one. (and….still smiling)
Kozart was not your typical looking rocker to me, so the cover threw me for a loop when I saw it, but as I read his story and his personality came out, it was so fitting for him. For him. I was absolutely smitten with Kozart. I liked his vulnerability. I liked the way he was truly the “Rock God”, but I enjoyed the more intimate side of him that came out when his world got rocked by Aubrey – pun intended. I think the best part, for me, was that sense of normalcy only Aubrey could provide. She was just a little more and her strength and understanding made me love her. But, along with that comes the worst part, and that was realized early on. The added scrutiny you would get being in the public’s eye – talk about intense!! To be in their position? What a conundrum – not only was he in, but she was too. Holy cow. J Nathan gave me a story that had me thinking and smiling 95% of the time. Clearly there is some drama to work through, but that was easily followed and understood. Even though I may not have liked it, it was a nice, due course that needed to play out in the story and it worked perfectly well. (and I’m still smiling…see a pattern?)
I’m pretty sure J Nathan is the sweet to my bitter. I like the angsty, heavy hitting books (she writes the perfect sweetness with a hold on your heart). I like the triangles (she hates) and love the alphas (she loves). I am pretty sure we are soul sisters (stalker? same thing) because #margaritas. This was my favorite book by her and cannot wait to read more. I am sincerely hoping she gives the band members each a story as well because I like what she’s done with Kozart’s story, but there is more to be told.
“Failure’s not an option.”

This was a good rock star/sort of friends to lover’s romance. Aubrey and Kozart meet in a bar where she is trying to drown her sorrows over her ex-boyfriend who she just caught cheating. She doesn’t know who he is at first but when she finds out it doesn’t matter because she likes him for who he really is not his on stage persona. They start as friends and then it builds up to something more. I loved the chemistry between the two characters. I can’t wait to see what comes next from J. Nathan. You won’t be disappointed if you pick this book up.
I received an ARC of this book and I am voluntarily leaving a review.
4 1/2 rockin’ stars. I love Kozart and Aubrey and let me say that J. Nathan outdid herself on this one! Kozart may step in and save Aubrey at her sister’s wedding but it is Aubrey who ultimately saves Kozart.
Being a famous rockstar at 25 has seriously changed his life for the better but he knows he is missing something. Then he meets Aubrey, who is so not his typical type. She is 21, a senior in college, and a country music fan not rock. In fact, she has no idea who he is. But she soothes his soul, something he didn’t realize he needed so badly and wants to hold onto. Kozart never thought he could have a relationship with a woman with the lifestyle he leads. He’s not sure he can be what Aubrey needs or deserves but he knows he needs her in his life and wants to try. But sometimes needs and wants are not enough and real life gets in the way. It’s all in how you navigate the obstacles.
I really enjoyed this story!!
Very good new adult rockstar romance
I completely enjoyed this romance between jaded rockstar Kozart “Z” Savage and college student Aubrey who meet in the bar at a hotel after Kozart starts getting sick of the rock ‘n’ roll party, sex with groupie lifestyle and Aubrey finds her boyfriend cheating on her at her sisters wedding with another bridesmaid.
Aubrey is a bit drunk and is a Country music fan so she has no idea who she is talking to, and Kozart likes that, he also feels like standing up for her so he takes her back to the wedding so she can show everyone she is not defeated. From there they start texting and learning more about each other. I like the fact that the relationship develops before they actually have sex. Also Kozart has some issues from his childhood in foster care and Aubrey helps with those.
They deal with issues about him being famous and paparazzi and not wanting it to get out that they are dating as well as issues of him being on tour an possibly seeing other people. It is very well done and I ended up really liking both characters.
“Because he would break my heart. Maybe not purposely, but it was inevitable.”
As I’ve come to expect from this author, once I started reading putting the book down was no longer an option. She threw me right into the scene where Aubrey gets rescued by a rock star at her sister’s wedding, without even realizing who he was. Even if he had told her, she still wouldn’t have known who he was. I’m sure that’s where the attraction started for him. How refreshing it must have been to not be groped by groupies but instead try to convince a beautiful girl that rock music is better than her beloved country songs.
I must say, I was entertained from start to finish. The banter between Kozart and Aubrey was so fun. She didn’t fall all over herself trying to please him, she threw sass, and he liked it. He felt like he could be himself with her, he didn’t have to perform for her. But, once she learned the truth, would she still be interested? He was on a concert tour, and he couldn’t stick around to see where things could go between them. So, best not to make any promises, right?
I loved this story so hard. I’m smiling right now just telling you about it. I didn’t want it to end. I don’t know what the author has for us next, but I’m ready. The line forms here…
Kozart is my absolute favorite read this year. He is a talented musician that is getting tired of the Rockstar lifestyle and has trouble sleeping so when by chance he meets Aubrey he knew that there was something different about her. The back and forth banter these two have was hilarious and it made me fall in love with the thought of them together. Kozart doesn’t want to make Aubrey any promises that he may not be able to keep while he is on tour, like sleeping with other people. The more time they spend talking, texting, and surprise visits the more Kozart seems to be able to stay loyal to Aubrey and finds himself falling in love with her. Aubrey was a smart and loyal person that was willing to help Kozart even if it meant having her heartbroken. These two are an amazing couple and I loved there story. There were a few times I wanted to throat punch Kozart’s publicist but it all worked out in the end. A definite book I’ll read over and over again.
What woman hasn’t dreamt about meeting a rock star and spending just a little time in his world? The music, the lyrics, and the sexy eyes that make you feel giddy and out of your mind.
The typical rock star is self-centered, egotistical and a womanizer who would never settle down. With “Kozart”, Ms. Nathan has given us a refreshing take on the usual angst filled rocker romance. Her hero is a thoughtful, sweet and extremely talented musician who lets his lyrics tell his story. He never thought about finding his soulmate because the random groupies he hooked up with took away his pain and were gone by morning. Until he met Aubrey. She was beautiful, smart and funny and liked him for the man he was, not because of his fame and fortune. Kozart couldn’t stop thinking about her and he wanted to find a way to make a place for her in his life. But would she even want to see him again? Her life was so different than his and he felt that he didn’t have much to offer her. Everyone he had ever felt close to had left him and trusting people did not come easy to him. No matter how busy his life was and no matter where his tour took him, he vowed to always make time for Aubrey. His musical soul came alive when he met her and he never wanted their song to end.
Aubrey is just trying to hide from her humiliation at catching her boyfriend nailing another bridesmaid at her sisters wedding. While hiding face down at the bar she meets Kozart. Kozart makes her laugh when she didn’t think she could. They dance at the wedding, he holds her up while she gets drunk to forget what happened to her at her sisters wedding. The next morning she wakes up with a mountain of regret but Kozart is enchanted by her and while he can’t stay he, can’t leave her so he steals her number and keeps in contact with her . . . because Aubrey brings a peace to Kozart that he never knew he needed.
I adored this story so much. Kozart and Aubrey were so much fun. I loved their initial banter/texting. It was fund and cute and really roped me into their story. Not only where they fun but their chemistry was off the charts. I also really connected to Kozart’s story. It pretty much broke me. I wanted to give him a big momma bear hug. He just wanted to be loved and put first but was too afraid to let himself be loved. It was truly heartbreaking. While I saw their conflict coming from a mile away I hated the way it was resolved. I hated who did the groveling even though I loved how they said their need for the other was more than their pride . . . gah that killed me but I felt that the wrong person did all the groveling.
A rockstar you’ll fall in love with.
Kozart Savage is a rock star you’ll fall in love with, and Aubry is just the woman for him. Happenstance brings them together, and attraction and need hold them together. This is an adorable love story that will make you want to unplug from life and be carried along their journey for a day.
Loved Kozart & Aubrey
Aubrey Prescott is a senior speech pathology student…..After she catches her boyfriend cheating with a bridesmaid at her sister’s wedding, Aubrey ends up hiding in the hotel bar during the wedding reception where she meets Kozart…He’s sweet and sexy, and he takes her back to the wedding reception to help her save face…and a relationship…of some kind…begins…
Kozart “Z” Savage is the talented, sexy front man for Savage Beasts, one of the most popular rock bands in the world…Men want to hang with Z…women want to sleep with Z…but no one really knows Z….until he meets Aubrey…She has no idea he’s famous…she’s a country fan…..but Aubrey sees him….and he starts to fall in love with the girl who likes him just for him…
KOZART sucked me in from the beginning…..Kozart and Aubrey are great characters and have smoking chemistry, and their banter is the best….They are sweet and funny and even though Aubrey cuts Kozart no slack because he’s a sexy rock god, they are both vulnerable with each other….and their love grows…but he’s still a rock star….
A very romantic, fun, smile worthy story. Loved both characters. I loved how they were with each other. Very sweet. Loved the ending.
I cannot lie, I am a sucker for rock boys!! So, I decided to dive into Kozart. It was a story that I was not ready for. I typically an Olivia Cunning’s fan, so to live up to that is HARD! But J. Nathan did an amazing job with this book.
There were some time that I wanted to strangle Kozart & Aubrey, but it was necessary for the storyline.
I am now a J. Nathan fan!!
I am looking forward to this new series that I stumbled upon!!
My mission for 2020 is to try new authors for me. I decided to take less ARCs so that I could pleasure read and read what moved me. I am so glad that I took a chance with this one. I am looking forward to see where this series takes me (Savage Beast). The characters are going to be AMAZING!!
~ Review by Heidi Pharo
Kozart is a sweet and entertaining Rock Romance. There is great chemistry between Kozart and Aubrey, especially after the way their story begins. If you enjoy Rockstar Romance, or are just looking for an enjoyable Contemporary or New Adult Romance with a satisfying ending, Kozart is the book for you! 4 Stars!
I noticed this book when it 1st came out, knew I had to read it soon and finally dove into it today. Yay!!! Rockstar romances are a personal favorite of mine so when a friend with similar interests also recommended it, how could I resist??
The opening pages drew me right in as Aubrey, a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding, is found drowning her sorrows after literally catching her long time boyfriend in a very compromising position. One that is unforgivable.
Kosart ‘Z’ Savage finds this funny girl face down on the bar he’s ducked into on a night when peace was hard to find in his wildly crazy rock and roll life. The most bizarre part of the night isn’t the tipsy girl or the pretzels she’s sporting in her hair but the fact that she is most likely the only person that sees him as just a regular guy and doesn’t have a clue of who he really is.
That, her sarcastic sense of humor and the way she challenges his ego has him wanting to know more. What will happen though when Aubrey eventually discovers the truth about him? Kosart doesn’t usually care, he’s not one for sticking around long enough for feelings to develop. Everybody just wants a chunk of his soul and he’s numb to it now.
I loved Aubrey and her strength of character. She was direct and truthful, expecting the same in return. Kosart’s past was a sad one and he’s developed a hard exterior because of it, trust is one thing that’s hard to find but underneath all that…something special is buried and waiting to come alive.
I found myself reading this in between everything I had to do today, inpatient to get back to it when something took me away from it. Sign of a great story, right? Yes, yes, yes, it sure was.
I’m not sure if I’ve read this author’s work before but I really loved this one. As this is Savage Beasts #1, it looks like I’ll have more of this bands story to look forward to, hopefully it won’t be a long wait. The potential for seeing what the future may hold for Aubrey and Kosart is definately a big old bonus for me, especially after that swoony ending..sigh!
This was my first book by J. Nathan and she did not leave me disappointed. Kozart, the tortured rock star, and Aubrey, the girl who had a privileged upbringing, meet on a night of utter heartbreak for her. At least she believes she’s heartbroken. She soon learns that she doesn’t know what true heartbreak is, or true love. As this unlikely match fights their attraction and deals with outside forces who don’t want them together you find yourself rooting for love to win out in the end. Their friendship quickly morphs into something more, even as they find themselves fighting it. I loved every second of this book, and look forward to reading more of this author.
i love this book ..i love character from the beginning ..was a page turner .,the character had a chemistry that both could feel but she has no idea that she just meet a rockstar..will they be able to make things work between them or not ..it a must read .get it you wont regret it
I loved this broken, teddy bear of a man! Kozart – both the book and the character – kept surprising me until the very end. I’ve read a lot of rock star romances, and while this had some of the typical storylines, it was so refreshing and real that it was hard to put down. The story follows Kozart, a rock star who has started to realize that fame isn’t all it’s cut out to be. He has trouble sleeping, and often uses sex to try to send him into exhaustion, but his old habits are not working anymore and he’s worried something needs to change. When he meets Aubrey, she has just found her boyfriend cheating on her at her sister’s wedding. The two strike up a conversation, and Kozart finds it so refreshing that Aubrey, a country music fan, has no idea who he is. They spend the evening together, and Aubrey thinks that’s the last she will hear from Kozart, but he surprises her by contacting her again. The two strike up a friendship of sorts, exploring what it would mean to be more, and both have to determine if they can find enough trust in each other to make a relationship work.
This book is romantic, light, fun, frustrating, angsty, sweet… it takes you through so many emotions, but you’re always feeling SOMETHING. It’s dialogue-based and the banter is awesome, making it easy to see the connection between the two. Kozart is hands down my favorite part of the book – he has not had an easy life, and it takes a lot for him to learn to trust someone, trust himself to have a relationship when temptation is everywhere around him. He’s open and honest with Aubrey about his limitations, and he grows so much throughout the book that’s it’s impossible not to love him. The opening chapters of the book show just how different their lives have been prior to meeting, and they have to find a way to bridge their two worlds. I am so glad that NetGalley offered me an ARC in exchange for an honest review – I’m not sure I would’ve discovered this great author otherwise. I will definitely be checking out more of J. Nathan’s books in the future.
Kozart and Aubrey’s rockstar romance. Can one date lead to true love? A beautiful story that I couldn’t put down!!!
Aubrey catches her boyfriend having sex with another bridesmaid at her sisters wedding, and is trying to drink away the blues at the hotel bar. Kozart, a rockstar God, drops by the bar and is drawn to the lady laying on the bar. He offers to be her date for the reception, and dances with her, gives her an amazing kiss in front of the ex, and stays with her all night. Aubrey is into country music and has no idea who he was, and figures she will never see him again. Kozart can’t forget this girl and runs into her in a bar in her college town. Kozart has problems sleeping and for some reason he sleeps well when he is with Aubrey. Aubrey treats him as a person, and he enjoys that. They forge a friendship which quickly turns into more. Can Aubrey trust Kozart to not break her heart? Can Kozart open up and let her in? There were parts of this story that broke my heart, and others that I was laughing. Shew, I don’t know who would not want a boyfriend like Kozart. He was full of surprises. Some of the things he did for Aubrey showed how much he listened to her and got her. She did the same for him. The gifts they gave each other showed how much they listened to each other. The ending was amazing, and I’m no glad Kozart ended up following what was best for him and not listening to those who thought they knew what was best for him and his career. I could not stop reading this, I was enthralled the entire book. Do yourself a favor and pick this one up!
Ladies/Gentlemen. One word, Kozart! He is your next book boyfriend!
Broken-hearted Aubrey takes a break from her sisters wedding after finding her boyfriend in a compromising position with the bridesmaid. Kozart needs to get away from the craziness of his Rockstar profile and finds himself in the same bar and Aubrey. She is a college student who loves everything country. Kozart is anything but country, yet the attraction is smoldering.
Kozart holds so many secrets but finds comfort in his country girl. Although, living the life of a RockGod has so many temptations. How can a girl who has been hurt in the past overcome it?
I’m going to just give it straight to you. If you love a hot man who has issues this is for you! If you want a sweet, crazy, in your face girl you got it.
The honest truth is that J. Nathan is someone you need to read.
I was blessed with a review copy for my honest review. Thank you J!
