Barb Quintain seems to have it together. She owns the hottest restaurant in town, lives in a fabulous luxury apartment, and has a personality as big as the state of Texas. But her outward confidence conceals old wounds as big as Texas, too. She hides behind her success, fearing that someone will discover what she’s really like—a fake, a fraud, all broth and no beans. Then one evening he walks … walks into her restaurant–the hottest, sexiest man she’s ever seen. Kord. An alien from Dakon who’s so out of her league, she could never deserve him.
Kord doesn’t understand why none of his Intergalactic Dating Agency matches have panned out until he happens into Barbie Q’s Restaurant and meets the proprietess. His twitching horns immediately signal she’s his Fated mate. Unfortunately, she doesn’t seem to recognize that. The only thing he can do is get her to hire him so he can convince her they’re meant to be together.
Just as Kord’s patience wins her over, and Barb can envision herself as his mate, a family crisis sends her running in her rhinestone boots. Will confronting her past destroy their future?

This story is laugh out loud funny. I just love the confusion of the aliens with our language and sayings. Barb was a great character who had a lot of things to work through from her childhood. Kord did not really understand those things but he tried so hard. Lovely story with a great ending.
Loved Kord’s and Barb’s story. On the outside, Barb has it all together but on the inside, due to her upbringing, she feels like she could not be enough. Kord recognizes her immediately as his fated mate and Barb struggles daily with how she feels about him. Finally, afters some words from her father on his deathbed, she decides to accept and be Kord’s mate. Lovely alien happily every after.
Another great read.
This is another great read in the Dakonian A!ien Mail Order Brides series. Kord and Barb were endearing characters. Kord couldn’t figure out why he hadn’t been matched with a bride until he walked into her place and saw her. He knew that she was his he just had to convince her.
It was a pleasure to read this outstanding, entertaining Sci-fi alien romance. The plot is delightfully well-written & it certainly kept my attention with some unexpected situations. The characters are well developed & interesting with undeniable chemistry.
There is: a apparently confident woman (Barb) with a painfully past comes into contact with a Dakonian male (Kord) who is prepared to do anything to claim her but there are a few problems from her past that stand in his way, Barb’s caring friend (Holly), Kord’s brother (Braxx), mild twists & turns, intrigue, some suspense, humor, mystery, family issues, fated mates, attractions, insecurities, confusion, admiration, well-meaning advice, misunderstandings, disagreements, decisions, surprises, disbelief, happiness, some steam & a sweet, happy conclusion. There is a tantalizing glimpse of the next book & I look forward to it with great anticipation. I really enjoyed reading this Sci-Fi alien romance and would recommend it.
Barb thought being the best restaurant in town was the way to happiness. Little did she know it’s actually in a huking, horned, alien! Barbie Q’s was busy before she got railroaded into hiring Kord. She set a strict no fraternising policy, so she’s be a total hypocrite if she gave in to all the fiery chemisty Kord is throwing her way.
She learned a long time ago to rely on herself and to fake it till she could make it. Kord seems to see right through the blonde haired, bimbo, Texan Pageant girl facade, all the way to the vulnerable female underneath.
I loved Kord’s total naivety at the “gold diggers”! LOL. Kord has some prodding by her staff into stepping into her HEA. Barb’s back story is heartbreaking and I loved the way she rose above her past to make her own future.
Kord being part of the IDA hasn’t had the best of luck with women yet, they all just want his money. While on a date she leaves him and Kord walks to restaurant where he has going to take his date but she didn’t want any part of it. Barb the owner couldn’t believe her eyes hello Mr. Hotness. While she was as having bad luck also. Kord came back and applied to be the bus boy and from there women were flocking him for a date. It keep Barbie Q’s extremely busy a got worse as the line became a very long period just to get a seat and all them women. He had eyes only for Barb and she kept pushing him away with her insecurities. As time passed she started to making out with him in her office, until one day she got the call to go home. Her father was dying and he wanted to apologize and to let her know its okay to love someone. In the end Barb and Korn both get the HEA.
I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
LOL! those “LOGICAL” conclusions Kord and his brother come to concerning human women and their mates. SMH with laughter . Of course, since it’s a HEA, it was the wait, the journey and the AHA – by his MATE!
Another delectable Dakonian love story!
Barb Quintain is the owner of the highly successful Barbie Q restaurant. Kord, a Dakonian, is searching for his mate. Maybe if their applications to IDA hadn’t been fudged, they would have better success with the dates sent their way! I get a kick out of the Dakonians’ misunderstanding of human euphemisms! Barb keeps up a rigid façade so people won’t see her faults. I began to doubt that Kord would ever reach his objective. Their story is full of humor, romance, misunderstandings, sorrow, all culminating in the happiest of endings. I love this story!
This was the fourth book in the Dakonian Alien Mail Order Brides series and was about Barb & Kord. We briefly met Barb in the previous book so it was nice to see her story and I enjoyed seeing how things worked out with Kord. Kord came to earth with his brother Braxx who signed them both up without telling Kord first. While this book is centered around Barb and Kord’s romance we get a peek at the next book’s story about Holly and Braxx when they meet when Braxx comes to meet Barb. I look forward to reading more about them as well as getting peeks into how all the other characters are doing in the future.
3.5 I feel like a while section was missing. From when she said she’d date him till they hooked up in the office. It’s like time jumped forward. This couple didn’t communicate well at all. Very sweet
