His voice threaded through her, as if it might be made of rawhide, designed not to break, to weather time and elements, as sturdy as the land he probably worked. Because yes, he wore cowboy like a second skin, the no-nonsense aura of hard work and get ’er done.“Do I need to go back there and put some hurt on anyone?”He wasn’t smiling, and she couldn’t tell if he was serious—maybe. Which sort of … serious—maybe. Which sort of unrooted her for a moment. Um…
A woman in danger. A man who can’t help but save her. But, at what cost?

About KNOX:
He’s not looking for trouble…
Montana rancher Knox Marshall’s danger years are behind him. A former bull-rider, he now runs the Marshall family ranch, raising champion bucking bulls for the National Professional Bullrider’s Expo (NBR-X). Wealth and success are his, but life is stable, expected, and…ordinary. But he wants more from life…
But trouble is looking for her…
Kelsey Jones just wants a safe life, a family, a home. Onstage, the beautiful rising star of the Yankee Belles becomes the person she longs to be – vivacious and confident – burying the brokenness she carries from a violent assault. Becoming NBR-X’s next country act is key to outrunning her past and achieving the success and security she craves.
When trouble finds them both…
Knox and Kelsey’s paths collide when an explosion at an NBR-X event traps them in the rubble and leaves them reeling. Kelsey’s crippling nightmares return, but for Knox, an obsession to find the bomber is ignited.
What will it cost him to protect her?
When Kelsey’s past threatens Knox’s family, he’ll have to choose between saving the Marshall legacy or becoming the protector he’s always longed to be.

If you love strong cowboys who are committed to protecting the women they love, no matter how hard it get, then this the book for you. I had a hard time putting this one down, and when I discovered there are several more books in The Montana Marshalls series, I went online and ordered the first three print books.
I LOVED this novel! I hadn’t read Reuben’s story yet so it took me a while to connect the pieces, however I loved seeing Rafe Noble again!
The story started off well and hooked my attention. Throughout the story, I couldn’t help swooning over Knox and cheering for him and Kelsey. It was lovely to see Kelsey grow as a person and finally conquer her fears with the help of God (and some help from Knox too! ^^)
I loved some of the messages in the novel: of letting go of control and letting go of the past, and a message of moving forward and embracing a new future.
The plot was interesting and kept me entertained the whole time. I really liked some of the secondary characters that came up. In the novel, there were some POV’s from Tate and Glo which I found to be insightful. I can’t wait for Tate’s story!
Overall, a brilliant start to a very promising series!
Such a great book! I couldn’t put it down. It’s a suck-you-in-be-ready-to-disregard-all-aspects-of-adulting kind of book-and completely worth it!!! I really enjoy the adventures, romance, and mystery in Ms. Warren’s stories. This will be a super fabulous series. I am already counting down to the next one-these will flow so much into each other that you won’t want to put any of them down!!

Love love love this series by Susan May Warren! Knox is a fantastic story I couldn’t put down. While part of a series, this could be read as a standalone book but you won’t want to miss this series!
Susan May Warren infuses faith, hope, resilience and courage into each of her characters while weaving an action packed romantic story. I love that her books always leave me feeling hopeful, inspired and entertained.
“She was the adventure he’d longed for. And he might be boring, and nice, but she made him feel like the safe, dependable guy was the hero after all.”
Oh my goodness. What an incredible, high-octane, soul-searching start to The Montana Marshalls series! This book is classic Susan May Warren – fun and easy-to-follow writing style with delicious dialogue, a great plot with twists and turns, a nice dose of suspense that keeps you turning the pages, a cast of characters you will fall in love with who embodies intense emotions and hurts and spiritual revelations, and, of course, heart-stuttering romance. Fans of Susan May Warren will be satisfied. Those who’ve never read Susan May Warren will become fans quickly after reading this book.
Set in beautiful present-day Montana, we meet the Marshall family as the story unfolds to reveal Knox and Tate. Knox is the second oldest in the family of six and he’s the only one who stayed on the family ranch to continue the legacy. He’s noble, loyal, protective, tender, and smart though suffers from inferiority complex when he compares himself to his siblings. Kelsey is a rising country singer who has a dark and painful past; she tries to stuff down her vulnerable, tender, loving heart by being on stage and making her career her one and only goal in life. Her best friend and fellow band member Glo and Knox’s younger brother Tate, who is hired as their bodyguard, bring Kelsey and Knox together in a whirlwind of rodeos, country music concerts, and danger trailing their every step.
The author has a way of pulling you right into the heart of the story from page one and not letting go until the entire series is finished. I’m so looking forward to Tate’s story, as well as the other four siblings’ stories!
I was given a copy of the book from the author and SDG Publishing and was under no obligation to post a positive review. All comments and opinions are solely my own.
I’m walking around with a book coma. Do you know what I mean?
It’s where you’ve just read a book and you can’t seem to get it out of your head.
Where the characters are so real you wonder what they are doing now and what will happen in the future.
In this new series by Susan May Warren, that is exactly what is happening to me right now! WOW! I wish I could meet this very larger than life family from Montana. I think I’d love to have them as friends. I’d also enjoy riding around the homestead and experiencing all the beauty God put there.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, I’m at a loss to have words eloquent enough to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warrens’ books.
She does this all in such a way where you as a reader, are drawn in and can’t let go until the end. She uses action and suspense, drama and romance to woo the reader in. Her words touch the very center of your soul and hold you there.
I was held there and couldn’t put the book down until I finished it, BUT then I wanted MORE!
I truly can’t wait for the next book in the series, where I’m sure there will be tons of action, suspense, and romance, as we continue to get to know the Marshall family members.
Whatever Ms. Warren writes I’ll read because I know I’ll be captivated and blessed in a way that is life-changing.
I was given this book by the publisher for an honest review, all opinions are my own.
Susan May Warren really knocked it out of the park with the Montana Marshall series. If you like adventure and realistic characters that tug at your heartstrings, you need to check out this series!
This book had me at ‘rodeo’. The characters are well written and the situations are both emotional and action-packed.
It’s been too long since I’ve read a SMW book and what an exciting one to return to. Although, now I want to go back and read all the characters’ books that had little cameos in this one. As always, I loved the characters, family ties, and gentle faith thread. The Marshall family has lots to offer romantic suspense fans. While Knox gets his HEA, the book concludes with a bit of a cliffhanger tying into Tate’s upcoming book. I’m really hoping I enjoy the next one as much as I did this one.
Knox by Susan May Warren
I’ve always enjoyed all of this author’s romantic suspense series, and Knox: The Montana Marshalls is no exception. In fact, it’s creating real-life suspense for me to have to wait for the next book in the series.
Knox and his family are each colorful, fascinating characters with bright futures as the stars in their own story. This first story is set in rugged, romantic Montana, which I adore. I get to live there through the characters and cheer them on their journeys to wholeness and of course, love.
Susan May doesn’t hold back on the suspense, either. The nasty attacks from the antagonist (who is he/she really?) kept me on the edge of my seat. Loved the spiritual thread woven through the characters’ lives. I give this book five stars!
Struggling with past trauma? Feeling stuck with no hope? Come along on an epic journey with Knox Marshall and Kelsey Jones as they discover the love of Jesus in the midst of the dark night of the soul. I love faith journeys because they give me hope for my own journey with Jesus. I so appreciate the spiritual truths woven throughout this story.
Recommend to those who enjoy inspirational, contemporary romance.
I borrowed a copy from my local library. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
Knox is the first book in the Montana Marshalls series by Susan May Warren. I am absolutely loving this series.
Knox is the responsible, stable one. He puts his life on hold to take care of his family, setting his dreams to the side to enable his siblings to follow their dreams.
Kelsey has dreams but the only time she feels free is when she is on stage. Someone broke her to the point where she is afraid to live anywhere except on stage.
See how two hesitant souls find each other, find their ways and find their faith to live a life filled with love and worthy of grace.
A promo for this book popped up on my facebook feed and I’m so happy it did. I can’t wait to jump into the next story to see how this family evolves. This is definitely going to be a series to keep and re-read.
Make sure to have
A few tissues ready. This is a beautiful story of healing and love. Knox took over running his family ranch and started a bill breading program. He had a bull competing in San Antonio when he met & saved Kelsey. She was a singer with her 2 best friends. But she has been threatened. They connect.
Oh, a whole new cast of characters to love as well as some appearances by old favorites that make me want to go back and read previous series. Mrs. Warren put far more than real-feeling people full of realistic issues in these pages. She put a lot of heart, some tough but love-filled conversations, and at least one “Ouch!” moment for me as a comment between characters hit a little too close to home.
Perhaps the conversation that will stick with me the most was between Reuben and Knox after the fire in the barn. I won’t say more to spoil anything, but I wonder what life could be like if we all had those kinds of conversations in our family, that honest, loving communication. If we all determined to see love in each other rather than all the places we didn’t feel like we measured up.
At any rate, this was classic Susan May Warren: high action, a touch of heat, a bit of romance, and a roller coaster ride that partially ends but promises to keep going into the next book. I love it! And am looking forward to book 2.
This book is a brilliant beginning to the Montana Marshalls and a pleasant visit with some old friends.

This book was only okay. The characters were a little flat. I really loved Warren’s Christiansen family series. I had hope that this new series would be just as good, but this first book was mediocre. The dialogue, for me, is where this one didn’t succeed. The conversations just seemed lackluster. I’m not sure how else to describe it.
I read this book in 4 hours! It was a wonderful book and I’m anxious to finish the series.
I’ve never read a Susan May Warren book I didn’t like, and the first book in The Montana Marshalls series, Knox, is no exception. What’s not to like about a hunky, courageous, tender-hearted hero? The heroine, Kelsey, is also engaging, and I admired her strength and resilience in spite of a horrendous past and ongoing trauma. Although this is part of a series, it can stand alone. I’m definitely looking forward to reading the stories of the rest of the family and looking at those amazing covers!
Knox is the first book of the Montana Marshalls series by Susan May Warren. In this book you will have so many emotions that you are holding your breath throughout the book! Knox is the kind of man you want to have around when you are in a bad situation. He is old, nice and safe…at least that is what he thinks and that is what Kelsey needs at the moment. I just absolutely loved this book! I wish a man like Knox actually existed in my life! LOL. I loved the characters and how they interacted with each other. Kelsey from a hard, troubled past and Knox a man who is the kind of man Kelsey needs in her life. You will fall in love with Knox’s and Kelsey’s story starting from the first chapter and how God can restore anything! I highly recommend this book! It is suspenseful with romance thrown in! You will NOT want to put it down!
I could not put this book down. From the opening pages to the very satisfying happily ever after, Knox’s and Kelsey’s story gripped me. This page-turner had me wondering what would happen next. So many unexpected twists and turns came in the story that I couldn’t predict what was coming. Both Knox and Kelsey were realistic characters, caring and likable. They resonated with me as few characters have in the past few years.
The Montana setting read in a way that I easily visualized the Marshall ranch, the bull riding events, and I had the sense of actually being there.
The secondary characters were fun and real and very relatable. The tension throughout the story is tight, but this book also has laugh-out-loud and tearing up moments.
This is one of Susan May Warren’s best books to date. If you enjoy romance with taut suspense and swoon-worthy heroes, this is a book you must read.
