His voice threaded through her, as if it might be made of rawhide, designed not to break, to weather time and elements, as sturdy as the land he probably worked. Because yes, he wore cowboy like a second skin, the no-nonsense aura of hard work and get ’er done.“Do I need to go back there and put some hurt on anyone?”He wasn’t smiling, and she couldn’t tell if he was serious—maybe. Which sort of … serious—maybe. Which sort of unrooted her for a moment. Um…

About KNOX:
He’s not looking for trouble…
Montana rancher Knox Marshall’s danger years are behind him. A former bull-rider, he now runs the Marshall family ranch, raising champion bucking bulls for the National Professional Bullrider’s Expo (NBR-X). Wealth and success are his, but life is stable, expected, and…ordinary. But he wants more from life…
But trouble is looking for her…
Kelsey Jones just wants a safe life, a family, a home. Onstage, the beautiful rising star of the Yankee Belles becomes the person she longs to be – vivacious and confident – burying the brokenness she carries from a violent assault. Becoming NBR-X’s next country act is key to outrunning her past and achieving the success and security she craves.
When trouble finds them both…
Knox and Kelsey’s paths collide when an explosion at an NBR-X event traps them in the rubble and leaves them reeling. Kelsey’s crippling nightmares return, but for Knox, an obsession to find the bomber is ignited.
What will it cost him to protect her?
When Kelsey’s past threatens Knox’s family, he’ll have to choose between saving the Marshall legacy or becoming the protector he’s always longed to be.

Another action packed book from Susan May Warren! You’ll love the big, tough, strong Marshall brothers but especially Knox who gave up bull riding to run the family ranch. Danger seems to be following the new singing group, the Yankee Belles, from an explosion at the stadium to their tour bus burning and the Marshall’s barn catching on fire! You won’t be sure which of the performers the bad guys are after! Your heart will go out to Kelsey who has faced terrible circumstances in her life. I recommend Knox, the first book in the Montana Marshalls series! I received a complimentary ebook from the author. This is my honest opinion.
WOW!! This story is amazingly good! I have read several books by this author-shes one of my favorites! Every time I start a new series by her, I’m amazed at how fun and thrilling the characters and story lines are. She truly has a gift for writing!
This story kicks off the new Montana Marshall series, with book 2 to be released in July. I loved getting to know Knox and his brother Tate, their mom, and the Belle girls Kelsey and Glo. Each character has their own struggles and I love how they use God and the strength of positive people around them to succeed.
I read the story in one sitting because I couldn’t get enough of the story and characters, and had to find out what was going to happen next. I loved it and highly recommend this book and series!
I received a copy of this book complimentary for blog and social media review. All opinions are my own.
Susan May Warren has crafted another family saga with the Marshalls. Warren starts the series with Knox, the brother who stayed home to help mom with the family ranch. There are a number of familiar characters if you are a fan or reader of her previous books. It was nice to see them make an appearance. They didn’t just appear and disappear; these reoccurring characters actually helped Knox find himself and find love. The plot centers around a suspenseful moment and the hunt for justice. I really enjoyed the plot. I got wrapped up in the first chapter and finished the book in a little over a day. (It was a Sunday, so I had to go to church and take the teenagers to youth group.) The romance didn’t wow me or feel too rushed. It was there. I know it was important to Knox and Kelsey, and I knew it was going to happen but that was about it. The mystery element and the family dynamics captured my attention more. Warren did introduce and spend time with Tate, the hero for book two. He has a past that is hinted at, and I can’t wait to see what happens with him in the next book. An entertaining read filled with numerous surprises. Definitely a great start to a new series.
I received a complimentary copy of Knox by Susan May Warren from Stonewater Books, but the opinions stated are all my own.
3.5 stars
“What just happened?”
When an explosion rocks the grounds of a National Bull Riding event, Knox Marshall digs deep to prove his steadiness in the midst of chaos in order to rescue a lovely member of the Yankee Belles country music trio. It appears that providence placed him in the perfect location to make sure that Kelsey Jones survived her evening. Broken and bruised on the inside from a terrible assault as a teen, the woman takes the stage with a confidence that defies logic; off stage it becomes obvious that she’s nearly paralyzed with the fear that someone is trying to kill her . . . again. And Knox? He was born to protect.
There’s no speed limit in this story; it travels at a high rate of speed with quick rest stops that sweetly hum with romance.
“Be Thou, my Vision, O Lord of my heart . . . . .. “
Just when I thought Susan May Warren’s heroes could not be topped, lo and behold she gives her readers Knox Marshall. I have always had a weakness for cowboys – probably because of all the westerns I watched with my Dad as a child. Two of my favorite TV series in my teens were Stoney Burke and Wild Country, shows that only older readers may remember had rodeo settings. Needless to say, Knox was exactly my cup of tea.
The book literally started off with a bang within the first few chapters and the drama, action, danger, and romance just escalated from that point on. I loved the characters. Knox was a somewhat brooding guy, responsible to the nth degree and with a protective streak a mile wide yet he was secretly resentful because he was left to take care of the family ranch while his brothers followed and achieved their dreams. Kelsey was a gorgeous singer in a popular girl band who mostly entertained at rodeos but she was haunted by her past and running from it as fast as she could, hoping it didn’t catch up to her. Then there was Tate, another of the Marshall brothers who will star in his own book soon. I loved getting to know him along with Knox and can’t wait to find out how their stories continue.
As is customary with any book by this author, I devoured it quickly and was disappointed to see it end much too soon. Needless to say I eagerly await Tate’s story.
I voluntarily reviewed a digital copy of this book provided by the author. A favorable review was not required. All views expressed are my own.
Such a wonderful start to a new series. This story was so much more than I expected. The danger, mystery, twists and growing love were interwoven to create a fabulous story. I was surprised so many times. Great book. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Knox : The Montana Marshalls #1
By: Susan May Warren
Knox is book one of a brand new series in The Montana Marshalls. The story is wonderful and the characters are realistic. There were times when I was laughing and other times I had tears in my eyes. This is Knox’s story, and what a story. A Marshall, cowboy, once a bull rider, and running the family ranch. He is my hero . If i was in trouble I would want him and his brother Tate on my side. I was drawn in at the start and was hooked. I love Knox’s large family. There is action packed throughout the story. At times I caught myself holding my breath. This is an Inspirational romance suspense story that you do not want to put down or miss out on. I love the Inspirational parts running through the story. Ms. warren did a fantastic job of weaving Knox together and I highly recommend it. Cannot wait for book two ,Tate, in this series.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book, but was not told that I had to give a positive review. All opinions are my own.
I received this book for my honest review. Kelsey has been shattered by her past which has affected her future. Kelsey, Glo and their band are singing country songs and the meetup with Knox. Safe, dependable Knox who saves Kelsey time and again from herself, her past, and the guy who did so much damage to her in the past. Tate is Knox’s brother who Glo hires to be their bodyguard, but can he just do his job and not fall head over heals for Glo. Action, adventure and fun await in this book! Why the four star rating? I do not like being left right in the middle of a story for part two which doesn’t come out until?? I would wait for the sequels before starting this series. It is a good read
Knox is the first book in the new Susan May Warren series and it kicks off things with a bang. One of the things Warren does so well is create characters that you fall in love with right from the start. And she’d done again with the Marshall clan. We were first introduced to the Marshall’s in Burnin’ For You, which featured the oldest Marshall sibling Reuben. Knox is the second oldest and the one who’s been left in charge of running the ranch while his other siblings pursue their dreams. When Knox meets Kelsey Jones, lead singer for the Yankee Belles, a nice romance ensues along with a mystery. Knox and Kelsey’s mystery is resolved, but another mystery is introduced to whet your appetite for the next book in the series. It is my understanding there will be books for Tate, Ford, Wyatt, and Ruby Jane before this series concludes. Also, you’ll see a few characters from other Susan May Warren books pop up. I liked that since it was like catching up with old friends. Knox is romantic suspense at its finest.
Holy cow! The Marshall family has come in hot. Knox sets the stage for an awesome family saga. Feeling like the one who has to be responsible has left Knox feeling very left out of his family’s adventurous life. In steps Kelsey the pretty country singer. Life only hypes up as they become friends.
Along the way you meet some old friends that help keep Knox and Kelsey going. The end will just grab you and make you say how long do I have to wait for Tate’s story? This is a must read.
Wow! This is unequivocally a five star read. It was fun to come across several of the main characters of previous books in Susan B Warren’s other series, but they have nothing on this “cowboy” series of the Marshall family . . . as well as a country music band and the rodeo! Danger abounds everywhere with seemingly multiple mysteries to solve and enemies with powerful vendettas. I just love Knox and his intensely protective nature and his love for Kelsey but I also anxiously await whatever revelation is coming on Tate and his long history of mystery and violence, his love for Glo, and how that might get resolved — especially after that ending!!
Knox Marshall is the guy every girl wants – handsome, stable, hardworking and devoted. But he is “Tired of being the responsible one who did things right while others reached for their dreams”. Now he is falling in love with Kelsey Jones, a girl whose tragic past continues to color her world. Put them together, Knox comes alive and Kasey sees safety and security, “Knox, he felt like home, the soft place to land”. But Kelsey’s past and unrelated dangerous events combine to result in situations that could shatter their lives.
This is a book that kept a smile on my face all while reading it. Not because it was all pleasant but because it was such a pleasure to read. It is such a well worded, well developed engaging story. Susan’s writing is outstanding. And living in her stories is a wonderful place to be.
I love how the story got back in touch with old friends from previous books. Oh Rafe, Max, Sam, Ben, Sierra, it was so good to see you again!
Now that this book begins a new family series, I just want to savor each book. But this one ended in such a heart stopper, I am so anxious for the next one. So maybe I’ll reread this one – slowly.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
Knox is Ms. Warren’s latest book that is the first in the Marshall series. This series of books will focus on one family (the Marshalls). This first book is an incredible start to this series! Knox is one of the siblings to Reuben (who readers meet in her previous books). He is the dutiful, faithful brother who takes care of everyone at home while his siblings are off living their own lives. Knox and Kelsey meet and then are thrown together when the arena is damaged. Kelsey has ghosts from her past that she struggles to deal with. She also has someone she thinks is after her. Can Knox and Kelsey figure out what is going on? This romantic suspense novel will keep you up until you get to the very end! You will eagerly be wanting to read the next book in this series, Tate. In this book, you will get a glimpse into all of the Marshall siblings’ lives. I highly recommend this book! If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will love this book!
***I was given a free electronic copy of this book from the author for an honest review. This is my honest opinion. Even though I received this copy free, I have purchased her books before.
The action is heavily packed into this first edition of the new series. From the first word, prepare to love the Marshall family while holding your breath in the face of danger. Not only will you receive a heaping cupful of adventure and suspense but a daily allowance of grit, grace, self-discovery and renewed faith as well. Susan May Warren delivers beautiful scenes of spiritual enlightenment among the characters and also for readers. During the struggles, Knox, Kelsey, Tate and Glo face their biggest internal and external challenges while squinting at the light at the end of the tunnel.
For those who have previously read the Montana Rescue and/or Summer of the Burning Sky, there are brief appearances from favorites woven into the story. Be prepared to immediately yearn for book two, Tate, for the continuing saga of family, friends and perilous situations.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.
‘He gave a low chuckle and she could feast on it every day of her life.’
Susan May Warren gave us the Christiansens several years ago and now she gives us the Marshalls. I love her family series! Oh, I love everything she writes, actually. Knox Marshall wears cowboy like a second skin. Once a professional bull rider, now running the family’s ranch, raising championship bulls, Knox is steady, strong and safe. Knox is a true hero, too. He cares about those he loves and will always be there for them. Always. When he meets Kelsey Jones at a rodeo event, she is on stage singing with her group, the Yankee Belles. But Kelsey is hiding some serious pain and anxiety. Surviving a vicious attack as a young teen, Kelsey is pretty much miserable with her life. But Knox sees this and wants to help. After an explosion in the arena, he takes her back to the family ranch to keep her safe, but trouble follows them. Knox has already lost his heart to Kelsey, and hopes she will accept it. Kelsey is so full of hurt and is hopeful, but life is full of heartbreaks and she just doesn’t feel her life will ever be peaceful.
Come along as Warren takes her readers on a ride that is sure to get your blood pumping. These Marshalls have already found a place in my heart. We not only get to know Knox here, but Tate plays a major role, too, and I can’t wait to read his story. And there are five books in this series!! Wow. I wish I had them all right now. Susan May Warren is a forever favorite of mine and her books always have pride of place on my shelf. She not only tells an exceptional story, but she also includes great spiritual truths. Top notch! Highly recommended.
*My thanks to the publisher and author for a preview copy of this book. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own.
