A Wall Street Journal bestseller.
Known is the fifth book in Bone Secrets, the multimillion-copy bestselling series.
After a brutal snowstorm in the Cascade Mountains, Chris Jacobs discovers two things he never expected to see: the charred shell of a cabin, and Gianna Trask and her sixteen-year-old daughter huddled in an SUV, having barely escaped from their burning vacation rental.
Still … from their burning vacation rental.
Still scarred from a childhood ordeal, Chris knows there’s something sinister about the scene—it’s the stench of burned flesh.
Forced to wait out the blizzard in their rescuer’s retreat, medical examiner Gianna Trask wonders if her hidden past has finally caught up with her. When a body is found in the destroyed cabin’s ashes and a forest ranger is brutally murdered, both Gianna and Chris must confront their secrets if they want to escape the violent threat lurking outside.
In the fifth book in the Bone Secrets series, Kendra Elliot leads readers on a dangerous, twisting journey of two lives forever changed by a fiery snowstorm in the mountains.

THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
Wow, I enjoyed that so much and I don’t usually mention characters specifically but I am so thrillered that Chris’s story continued and ended well in this book. Great characters, action and the bit of humor was good as well. The narrator did a great job with these characters. I recommend it.
At first I did not remember who Chris Jacobs was. Buried, a must read. But getting more into the book, it started to click. Michael Brody, his brother, is the reporter.
It was good reading more about Chris and meeting the new character, Gianna, who will be working in the coroner office.
Loved it
Great plot!
I am so glad Chris gets his own HEA! Chris, we met him a couple books ago in this series, is really Michael’s brother David, and was kidnapped as a child and walked out of the woods two years later with a different identity. Now after a snowstorm in the Cascade mountains he finds a burned cabin and a mother and her teenage daughter in their disabled truck. Taking them back to his home to wait out the storm he has suspicions the mother, Gianna, has been poisoned but not down. Gianna is the newest member of the ME staff but more intriguing is in the cabin was a body she did not know about. This author gives us so many twists and turns and keeps us guessing right up to the end and intermixes a romance between Gianna and Chris which was so good to find out Chris could overcome his past.
Chris’ story!
Such a great bunch of characters made up the Bone Secrets series and learning about them has been a joy.
Audible. Also available to borrow ebook/audio via KU. This is one of those books that’s less expensive to buy the ebook & add-on the audio ($6.98 for both at the time of this review).
Chris Jacobs (introduced in book 3, Buried) is at his secluded cabin when he sees a neighboring cabin on fire. He finds Gianna Trask and her teen daughter, Violet, in their vehicle outside the remains. It becomes apparent that Gianna is being targeted and she and Chris (along with Michael & Jamie) work to discover why and keep her safe.
This was a nice HEA for Chris. Unfortunately, something was missing and it didn’t quite wow me the way some of the others did. The pacing was quite slow at times. Perhaps because in an effort to bring readers up to speed on events from Buried there was a LOT of info-dumping from that book. Parts were really good, but other parts felt overly confusing or forced. 3.5 stars.
Tanya Eby was great narrating this, though I do wish Luke Daniels could have been brought back since he narrated Buried.
Immediately I was completely emerged in the story, and just couldn’t get enough. Gianna and her daughter were great lead characters along with Chris. So many twists and turns. There were times I just couldn’t read it fast enough. I enjoy Kendra’s writing and storytelling. It’s hard to read her books because life just gets in the way of being able to read it right through like I want! Loved it!
First I feel like I need to thank the author for giving us a characters story that I honestly was not expecting to ever get. To get the full effect of Chris story you need to have at least read Buried. The author does do a great job of explaining his back story during the book but it makes it all the more sweeter to finally see him get his own HEA in the romance department and to finally face some things that have still kept him from fully embracing the world.
During one of his self imposed isolation retreats to a cabin Chris saves the life of Gianna Trask and her teenage daughter after their cabin had caught fire. The mystery of the fire and an unidentified dead body in the fire starts of the trail of more bodies and the mystery of finding out who is killing people and why they could be after Gianna.
This was a good blend of suspense along with the slow revealing of the what/why was going on along with two people with tragic pasts realizing that they fill the voids in each others souls that they had resigned would also be there.
Ms. Eliott writes very suspenseful mysteries, that keeps the reader glued to the pages! I am proud to be a fan!
