He loves her… world.
Against a backdrop of ocean, sand, and sun, this mix of novels and novellas showcases various aspects of the human need for God and for one another.
While the books in the series can stand alone as separate stories and don’t have to be read in order, you might enjoy reading the entire series from the beginning so that you meet some of the characters who will appear in the supporting casts of later books. For example, the prequel, Ask You Later, is a prelude to not only the stories in Savannah Sweethearts, but also its sister series, Seaside Chapel.
Savannah Sweethearts begins with Know You More, the story of Pastor Diego Flores and Heidi Wei. A young pastor of a growing church in a thriving community, Diego has to come to grips with God’s will for his pastoral and personal life.
Diego’s Disquiet…
Diego Flores has been interested in his best friend’s younger sister since their college days, but his calling to grow Riverside Chapel takes up most of his time.
When Heidi Wei becomes his strongest supporter in his church ministry, how does Diego show his feelings for her without giving her the wrong idea?
Does she see him as potential husband material or just the pastor of their church?
Heidi’s Hurdles…
Heidi suspects that Diego is sweet on her, but he seems to believe that his divine calling prevents him from acting on it. If it isn’t meant to be, she’s not going to push for it.
Yet every time they are together, something happens between them. Have they moved beyond the platonic relationship they have enjoyed all these years to something more personal?
When a crisis hits Heidi’s family, Diego has to balance pastoring his congregation and ministering to Heidi without losing either one. Being in love while growing a new church is difficult for him to juggle. Which path is more important? Which one should he focus on?

This is the first but will not be the last book I will read by Jan Thompson. I was so delighted as I read this book. The author delves into some hard issues like loss, expectations, and spiritual walk.
Jan Thompson had a good heartbeat on the struggles pastors have with finding balance in their lives.
I truly enjoyed many of the deep thoughts that Heidi had. They always seemed to go straight to the heart of the issue. She’s a no-nonsense, speaks her mind, kind of girl.
Diego just wants to follow God’s direction for his life and the life of the small church he’s leading. However, he seems to think he can’t have a personal relationship because it might get in the way of his leadership.
Throw in this mix other relationships and events, and you get a sweet, fun, wonderful story of acceptance and love.
Jan Thompson weaves beautiful truths of God’s love and care throughout this whole book. Her story flows with great dialogue and wonderful word pictures of places, people, and relationships. Each one has a realness and honesty that brings the issues each of her characters deal with, in a relatable way.
There’s hope and love in this story and these are things we can all use.
I highly recommend you read this book and enjoy a wonderful story of love!
I enjoyed reading this.
Enjoyed this book
I enjoyed a Christian based book. Bible verses
And thoughtfulness based on God’s principles for couples.
You know how we do what we don’t want to do, or don’t do what we want, or keep questioning ourselves? Here is someone doing what we all do. Read and find out where it takes Diego and Heidi.
Multi-racial folks accepting each other and working together in love
Good read.
I found this to be an enchanting story – realistic and inspirational!
Thank you for the meaningful Scripture throughout and the real life situations exemplified!!
It was delightful reading, with a delightful ending!!
its in my library, not read yet.
It was slow to get started but really worth reading, I really enjoyed it. The characters were great and the story heartwarming.
So thoroughly enjoyable with its endearing characters and inspirational elements that I could almost overlook its employing the irritating premise of two otherwise intelligent characters making nonsensical, unreasonable assumptions which get resolved in the final few pages. It still gets a 5 for its excellence in all other areas, and I hope to read more of the series.
I love how this story shows how all people struggle with the direction God is leading & how the way we feel toward others may or may not fit into those plans! Diego is busy planting a church & though he knows how real his feelings are for Heidi he struggles with the way they fit into his life as a pastor. Heidi is also struggling with the same feelings. This story shows how the different aspects of their lives work together to bring the Glory to God in spite of the fight taking place within each of them. In the end God shows them His plans for their lives without hurting their witness & growth of the church. A great story showing the immense love if God to every person and the importance of us all putting our lives at His feet & trusting Him to guide us.
Book was okay to read if you’re looking for a book to read. Not offensive or poorly written in any way. I just struggled with appreciating the story line. The main characters seemed to have a lot of overinflated crises and issues, and I found myself becoming impatient with them in their efforts to work out their problems. It may be that I just haven’t had the type of issues they had, but I got tired of waiting for them to come to their senses. Which they all eventually did.
Shallow, nothing to interest me.
Fairly predictable no stress read
Liked the links to Scriptures but seemed a bit to contriveved and not real life like
did not bring me in; was not a “can’t put it down”; not memorable for me
Enjoyed this very much. Good story & good inspiration.
I loved this story and how it portrays people of faith. One thing I always tell people is we are not perfect just forgiven. That’s the thing that comes to mind in this story of faith where even a man of the cloth has his struggles. We may say God is first but what happens when He directs us in a different direction than we think we need to go? The struggle is real but when you have friends and family who ate truly WISE counsel do you listen or turn away.
Well written with characters you can and do relate to and a story that comes too close for comfort. This is a first read for me with this author and I will most definitely be back for more.
