WARNING: Contains a sexy ex-marine, a stubborn, independent woman, and an incurably romantic BFF with matchmaking tendencies.
Welcome back to Wishful, Mississppi, full of eccentric characters and southern charm, where author Kait Nolan delivers another heart-warming story of a strong, successful woman and the equally strong man who learns how to be her partner.
Liam Montgomery is the last … Montgomery is the last person who’d call himself a hero, but he does have a tendency to try to save the world. Now that he’s left the Marine Corps and returned to Wishful, he feels out of place and unsure of what comes next. He does know one thing: The girl who used to look up to him like a brother is all grown up. No way he can see her as a little sister now. And she won’t give him the time of day.
Riley Gower isn’t holding out for a hero. In fact, a knight in shining armor is the last thing she wants. She’s been watching her mother chase that fairy tale for most of her life, with Riley the one left to pick up the pieces of unhappily ever after. Running Wishful’s downtown pharmacy is a dream Riley’s worked toward for years. Now that the business is finally hers, the realities of the current economy have made it seem like the dream is falling apart. So when her mother calls, expecting yet another rescue, Riley feels like she’s spread thinner than the last pat of butter at Sunday dinner.
It’s hard enough for a woman like Riley to admit she could use a hand, but mixed up with the embarrassment of a childhood crush and the devastating attraction sizzling between them? No way. Liam is determined to help, but taking down insurgents is less complicated than infiltrating Riley’s defenses. This will require reinforcements. And a plan.

EXCERPT:
Riley took an instinctive step back and stumbled. Her feet snagged, sending her flailing. Before she could crash into the piled up junk, Liam’s hands closed around her hips, yanking her flush against him. All her soft parts were pressed up close and personal against all his hard parts and, oh dear God, she couldn’t breathe.
“Careful.”
The rumble of his low voice vibrated that magnificent chest, which she felt because hers was plastered up against him. Her nipples went instantly, painfully hard. She couldn’t speak or move, so she just stood there, staring like a complete moron, waiting for him to let her go. Except he didn’t. His hands tightened on her hips, as if getting a better grip. Instinctively, hers tightened on his arms and, yep, they were every bit as hard and cut as they looked.
Through sheer force of will, Riley managed not to drool.
If you lick it, that makes it yours.
Before she could stop herself, she licked the seam of her lips. Liam’s eyes tracked the motion, and his mouth curved in a little half-smile that spawned a whole host of other wicked thoughts.

Superb story of strong steady safeguarding love!
That was really really cute. There was enough detail to get a sense that the author and character knew all the nitty gritty of being a pharmacist without weighing the text down with pointless professional jargon. I really liked Wishful and would like to visit again. And yay a curvy girl without body issues. There was only one time she acted like she was on a diet. And all girls pretend to make the decision to eat healthier occasionally so we don’t feel like complete pigs. He was a little less detailed, but he was making the transition from one career to another one, so I’ll allow it.
This is Book 2 in the Wishful series. While titles are sold individually, the series has been collected into box sets of 3 books each. Know Me Well is part of Volume 1 which is available in ebook & audio formats.
Kait Nolan is one of my favorite steamy small town romance authors. Her writing is a fantastic combination of fairly low angst, community charm, and a few sexy scenes. Know Me Well is also a mashup of some of my favorite tropes including former military and Best Friend’s Brother/Sister’s Best Friend. Liam is now out of the Marines and back in Wishful trying to find his “new normal” in life as a civilian. Riley is self-reliant to a fault and nursing a 12 year crush on Liam. I love that we get to enjoy Liam & Riley as a couple for a big part of the story – including his need to care & protect at odds with her desire to remain independent. There are a LOT of laughs in this one, a few tears, and definitely an HEA.
Wishful’s quirky residents continue to remind me of the small Southern town I grew up in. I’m looking forward to all their stories.
Amy McFadden continues to do a great job of giving a unique voice to everyone in this huge cast of characters. What I love is that she’s consistent how she voices them through the series which makes these audios completely bingeable.
Former Marine Staff Sergeant Liam Montgomery has finally returned home and Riley, his little sister’s best friend is hoping that now he will see her as more of a mature woman than a bratty kid. However before things can move forward, there is a little issue that happened in the past that will have to be addressed. A lot can happen in fifteen years one of which is the walls that Riley has been slowly putting up to protect herself. After having to be the parent over her mom and herself, Riley is hard pressed to allow any one to help her until one day she reaches her breaking point. Can Riley and Liam find their way to a HEA? The most of the town of Wishful wants to help their relationship happen. Can Riley come to realize that asking for help once in a while doesn’t mean that you are weak? Can Riley finally let go of some of the worry she has carried around and start enjoying life again? Come back to Wishful and see what everyone has been doing. Enjoy the community spirit and stay for awhile you won’t be disappointed.
Kait Nolan is a new author to me and I’ve been reading her books the last week since I received one in my Book Bub email, I can’t get enough of them! I’m loving the Wishful series, the characters make me want to move there. I wish I could afford to buy every e-book she has!
Beautiful
Riley bought out the Pharmacy from Molly and is doing ok. Liam is back and she has avoided him as much as possible for the last six months. But she has had a crush on him since she was 15. Can they connect.
This is good romance…read it’s heart warming pages.
Even better the second time. I’d read this before but failed to leave a review. All the books in the Wishful series are fabulous however this one tends to be a favorite as it just feels real. The characters, as lovely as they are, are flawed making them more honest and real as well.
I enjoyed this book so much I am now reading it again several years after first reading it. Just as good as the first time! The hero was sexy but real. The heroine has had some rough times and tends to not communicate her feelings well. That’s a character trait, not a criticism. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys romance and small-town stories. The author did a great job creating that small-town atmosphere.
I loved this nook.
It was a little to long for my liking. A lot of extended details Thai didn’t think were need, still a good read
Loved it! Wishful is a wonderful town! Kaitlin writes great stories!
I received this book free for an honest review and I absolutely loved it. It had a little bit of everything in this story. It was a beautiful story that had romance, drama, sadness, some disasters, and ultimately it ended with a happy ending. I loved Liam and Riley they just brought me into their lives and I totally fell in love with them as human beings as well as how good they are together. This book was really easy to get wrapped up in. It was a light read that just had the right amount of everything. I recommend to anyone that would like a great book to read to pick up this one you won’t be sorry.
Liam is been back in Wishfull for six month but he is still struggling to find his place. Riley, Liam little sister’s BFF, is struggling to keep the pharmacy afloat without anyone’s help. Will Riley let Liam save her again, like he helped her all those years ago and kept her safe until he went to the Marines? Sweet love story
fun read. an inspiration to face your own devils and push through the challenges.
To much bad language and sex
I liked this book much better than the first book in the series which spent way too much time on the efforts of Norah and not enough time on her romantic relationship. I especially loved the ending of this book.
Another sweet romance set in Wishful and giving us more of the wonderful characters of the town. Riley is stubborn and fiercely independent and has had a crush on her best friends brother since she was a teenager. Liam has a hero complex and sees it as his role to protect his family and that includes Riley but he has to admit that since he has been home he doesn’t entirely see Riley in the same light he did before he enlisted. I think the best line of the book is “Because if you lick it, that makes it yours.”so funny. There is of course family drama and community events to keep the story going and I look forward to more stories from Wishful.
A great read, strong woman both gets the guy and keeps her strength!
This is book 3 of the Wishful series. In typical Kait Nolan fashion her characters come to life and become part of your set of friends, the ones you want to hang out with on a lazy afternoon or when you need someone to have your back. Know Me Well isn’t a second chance story although it feels sort of like it. Nope, Liam is the BFF’s oldest brother turned protector. Riley is the BFF of his little sister and just another sister for him to protect. Things got awkward when Liam joined the Marine Corps right after high school graduation and Riley slipped a note into his duffel bag just before he left. It’s now twelve years later and the elephant in the room still hasn’t been addressed and Liam isn’t seeing her as another sister….
Know Me Well is a fun, quick, quirky romance from a true Southern small town where everybody knows your business. If you’re looking for some light reading with Southern charm this will satisfy your craving.
