It has always been them even when they did not know it…………..but other people knew!!!
I think I just found my new book boyfriends, yep that is plural. The Doyle brothers are going to be some of my favorites I have a feeling. They are a South Boston Irish family who grew up and live in the same neighborhood. This story is about Molly O’Brien and Owen Doyle. She is the 24 year old younger sister of Owen’s best friend since kindergarten, Sean. Molly has had a crush on Owen since she was young and always tagged along with her older brother to be around Owen. He always thought of her as his younger sister, protecting her and beating any and all the made fun of her, until he didn’t any more.
The story of Molly and Owen is an intricately written story that weaves together family, friends, love, regrets, lust, passion, responsibility, betrayal (no cheating) and so much more. Owen is definitely a hugely overprotective Alpha man, at six feet five inches tall and a successful MMA fighter, who makes it his living, he can go toe to toe with anyone. But he is much more than that underneath as he has a plan for getting out of the fighting and what he will do afterward. Plus he has a huge heart and treats Molly with such gentleness and passion at the same time. All he wants to do is make her happy and stop anyone who doesn’t, even if it is himself.
Molly is a real firecracker of an Irish lass. She is the youngest child, with all older brothers. She dreams of becoming a doctor but in the meantime she is working as an EMT and going to school for her nursing degree.
They both have plans but what they don’t anticipate is that their plans for the future will include each other in the most delicious way possible……………as husband and wife with with a brood of kids spilling out of the house.
Knockout is the debut novel by Sophie Austin and she has done an awesome job of writing a thoroughly entertaining and fascinating story with well developed characters and an intelligent story-line. There is definitely so Hot, Hot, Hot sexy scenes besides everything else. I am looking forward to reading the rest of the Doyle brother’s stories and seeing what women capture their hearts and minds.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
This is the first book in The Doyle’s, A Boston Irsh Mafia Romance series. It’s a look but don’t touch relationship as bro code takes presidence, right? Owen has three strikes against him with Molly’s brother being his best friend, his family being the irish mafia and the fact that he is a mixed martial artist which she is not a fan of. Can these two make move past their challenges and misgivings? Find a future and HEA with each other? Or will they both be stuck admiring the other from afar wondering how the other feels. This was a really good story and.great.start to a new story. I cannot wait to see how this series progresses. Enjoy!

Owen has know Molly her whole life. She is is best friends little sister, and the woman he has been secretly wanting for years. Molly has been in love with Owen since she was a teenager, but the reality of his fighting career and his family’s mafia ties…and her brother…have had her keeping her distance. She just happens to be the EMT on call at his latest fight, and he is in dire need of one. Their chemistry of off the charts, but they need to hide it from everyone in the locker room. When her brother tells her to take him home she agrees, nervous of what will happen. Their long standing attraction can’t be ignored anymore, and now Owen must decide if Molly is worth his future and his friendship with her brother. Love the angst, drama, passion and love……just so good!
This is the first time I have read Sophie Austin. And I really enjoyed the experience. Owen is best friends with Sean. Sean is Molly’s older brother. Owen is a fighter, hence the title Knockout, Molly’s other brother had a bad fight and never truly recovered. Molly and Owen have had a mutual attraction to each other for quite some time, but neither one has acted on it. But when they do they get caught and it almost ruins everything. But fear not there is a fabulous happily ever after ending. Great characters even though this was a pretty quick read.

The scenes are strikingly sharp with abundant details and descriptions you have no problem interpretating each scenario as they play off one another perfectly. Fantastic job Sophie, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
Not sure if it’s because I had just finished reading Grind which left me smiling and in a good mood then I went to Knockout expecting some of that same magic and got even more over done cliché with a very to me awkward plot that made it not resonate with me. While a worn out genre Ava and Connor were able to make me like them despite that. Molly and Owen felt more forced and I couldn’t really feel the chemistry between these two.
This one was almost paint be numbers with falling for the best friend’s sister and all of the overblown drama that comes with that. Then Molly and Owen being constantly at odds didn’t help me warm up to them. While they got their HEA I wasn’t as invested in them as I was with the Ava and Connor.

Owen Doyle is Molly’s older brother’s best friend since kindergarten, they make a promise never have a girl or woman come between their friendship… well Molly did. Owen has to fight himself from her when ever they are near the other, and most times it not in a nice way. But when Owens father had him look for someone, Owen never thought he would literally run into Molly at her shared housing. Molly hates fighting due to a family member but it kills her to watch Owen fight be watch it happening since he’s aiming for the big guns in Vegas.
This is a great short story that never felt like anything was skipped around or skips out of. The only thing I would have like to know is more of the story about her family member and a fight. Other then that it’s funny, it has some grittiness especially for the octagon scenes.
The storyline was well written and the wonderfully created characters captivated me from the very beginning! I really enjoyed the chemistry between Molly and Owen which kept me turning the pages until the very end!
This is the first book in this series and I love Kayla’s character. Good read and romance.
