Cooper.
Anything.
I would do anything for Allyson Patterson.
Always have,
Always would.
After all, we’re best friends,
Have been since acne and raging hormones.
I’d cross any line she’d ask.
Even if it means offering an easy-peasy marriage
of convenience (and hopefully benefits.)
But, I’m in this for the long haul.
Knocking boots or knocking her up,
Either way, it’s a deal.
For good,
Even if she doesn’t know it yet.

This book is so much fun in spite of the tears it invokes.
Ally has just learned she the fertility treatments she has been undergoing have failed again. She can’t afford another round, since her insurance didn’t cover what she was led to believe they would.
Cooper is Ally’s best friend, he would do anything for her and quite frankly he’s more than a little pissed that she didn’t ask him to be her donor or at the very least be there with her.
Jilly works for Ally and is a good friend, as such they go out for a girls night to help Ally deal with her disappointment. Ally has a bit too much and Jilly calls Cooper to come get her.
Keeping in mind Cooper is a fixer, he comes up with the perfect solution after talking with HR at his company.
He would marry Ally, she’d have his insurance coverage, he would be her donor and maybe, just maybe she would stay with him.
Lots of conflicts as Ally come to terms with what she’s agreed to and even those things she hasn’t.
Plenty of laughter, tears and heat as this story unfolds.
What a lovely, sweet and humorous romance about two best friends falling in love!
Ally is a committed baker, smart and caring heroine. And Cooper is the all-American good guy, who comes from a wealthy family but has also made it on his own.
Even though he’s always loved Ally, he never made a move because he didn’t want to ruin their reliable friendship. It all changed one night after Ally goes out drinking with her friend Jillian and other girls and he’s called in the middle of the night…
Super cute story. Love the secondary characters too. Enjoyed it and recommend!
I love friends to lovers stories, it’s my favorite and this book do not dissapoint.
Ally and Coop are friends for a long time. Then one day he finds out that she went for fertility treatments, which didn’t work and didn’t tell him about it. He always try to fix all problems for her, this time is no different.
Great storyline, loved all characters.
Don’t miss this one! This was such a fun book! I could not put it down. The characters were wonderful. Kat Baxter writes deep emotions and strong friendships in a way that pulls you in and won’t let go. Ally has an endearing quirkiness and is laugh out loud funny. Cooper is loyal with a heart of gold. Their story is sweet, funny, and sexy. It will pull on your heart strings and leave you cheering them on. I’ll be on the lookout for whatever Kat writes next. I’m hoping for a story about some of Cooper’s and Ally’s friends from this book!
Thank you Kat Baxter for providing me with an ARC of your book for an honest review. I found it to be great entertainment.
This was the first book I have read by Kat Baxter and quickly fell in love with her writing style. For me it is sometimes hard to fall into a story where the book is written in the first person. However, this particular book was written in such a way that it flowed perfectly. Ally and Cooper’s situation was not only realistic but relatable. In my 20s/30s a very similar situation was discussed with one of my best friends. In some ways, it felt like the author had looked into my diary. I loved the tension, the heat and the characters so much, I found myself talking to my tablet to Ally & Cooper. The secondary characters were not secondary. Loved them too. It was hard to let the characters go at the end of the book. I do hope we see all these Texans again.
This was a new author for me. I enjoyed this story about best friends who allow themselves to be so much more. It has lots of heat and plenty of heat as they give in to the chemistry they have always denied in order to make a baby. There is a super sweet HEA, and the characters are both likable. This is written in first person from dual POV.
This is my first Kat Baxter book, and y’all, I’m freaken hooked!! Best friends to lovers… Unrequited love… pretend marriage… let’s make a baby… kinda romance. This book had it all… and then some!! Omigosh, Alley and Cooper were so hot… like, sooooo hoooot!! And the love that Coop felt for his Alleycat gave me all the feels. He totally wore his heart on his sleeve. That is THE BEST kind of hero! I am totally crushin’ on Cooper right now. Alley also gave as good as got. She was sassy and yet very vulnerable. I just wanted to give her a hug. She’s a little gun-shy when it comes to love and she doesn’t want anything to ruin her friendship with Cooper. So she keeps her feelings hidden… even from herself. The ending of this book made me ugly cry AF… and I have the most amazing book hangover. I have a feeling I will be re-reading this story again and again. Good job, Kat Baxter. You have solidified your place on my keeper shelf. Can’t wait to read all of your books.
Ps. I loved all the Firefly nods.
*I received a complimentary copy of this book. I voluntarily reviewed it and the comments are my own.
My star system:
5 stars: Ugly cried AF, major book hangover, made me wanna hug the author for writing a book that gave me all the feels. Will be re-reading this over and over and over again.
Ally wants a baby but she doesn’t have an SO and after a couple of tries, fertility treatments prove too expensive to continue with. Cooper’s her best friend and his company has a really good medical plan for family members. It’s a simple solution but in order or it to work, they’d have to get married.
Kat Baxter’s Knocking Up His Best Friend is a sweet and VERY HOT friends to lovers romance with a charming but fragile heroine and a sexy and almost too good to be true hero. Add a disapproving mother in law, a whiny, resentful brother-in-law and a bunch of friends who “always knew they’d get together” and you’ve ticked off a whole lot of classic sub-plots that might have slid this one into the trite and overdone category, but Ally and Cooper are so sweet and their relationship is so hot I couldn’t help but fall in love with them
A thoroughly entertaining read.
