My kids are my life and all that truly matter. Until him. Jansen Reed is a living fantasy straight from the old west. Sexy drawl, tight jeans and that glint in his eyes that makes my knees weak. He promises me the ride of my life. tight jeans and that glint in his eyes that makes my knees weak.

And serves it up—on the kitchen table.
Something about Jansen makes me want to believe in fairytales again.
But, I’m not the kind of girl who gets a happy ending.
Never have been.
There will come a day when my cowboy will ride away, leaving me shattered.
I’ve accepted it and eventually I’ll make him realize it, too.
Too bad I can’t convince my kids….

If you’re a fan of Ms. Jordan then you know who these two folks are. We’ve met them many times before. If this is you’re first time reading Ms. Jordan you’re gonna want the other titles to this particular saga. Ida Sue is the kind of Mom that we all really dream of havin. The kind that loves with her whole heart, body, and soul. And also a little cracker jacks. Jansen is a cowboy just lookin for a place to hamg his hat. These two don’t start off on the right hoof (haha) but it sure don’t take too long for the oil (wink wink) to get real hot ya’ll. If it was possible to rate 6 stars, let me tell you I would !!! You’ve done it again Ms Jordan.
Colorful flowers rule !! :<)
If you have loved the Lucas clan books like I do you will not be disappointed with Knocking Boots. A wonderful visit to the past and an introduction to these incredible characters. Ida Sue and Jansen continue to make us fall in love with this colorful family. I love how you make us laugh, cry and absolutely adore these wonderful stories. Five stars for the colourfUl beginnings of the Lucas/Reed clan.
Knocking Boots is book 5 in The Lucas Brothers series or The Crayola Gang like many of us readers like to call this series, written by the amazing and talented author Jordan Marie. This book deserve more than 5 stars!!! In this issue the author give us a background to the life of one of my favorite characters from this awesome stories, the matriarch of the Lucas bunch. This is the love story of Ida Sue Lucas & Jansen Reed. It was charming and funny to read how they met, their chemistry is off the chart from the beginning. It was good also to see the children, all 9 of them at a younger age, getting their point of view plus the funny plotting and scheming to get their mom and Jansen together. This book makes you laugh, cry, fall in love with ALL the characters. NO SPOILERS!! A MUST READ!!! Can’t wait for more of the crayola gang!!Grab it FREE in Kindle Unlimited!

Grab some sweet tea, sit out on the front porch swing and snuggle up with Knocking Boots by Jordan Marie. I say front porch because this one is going to have you busting out laughing. Let me tell you, I know because I was reading this in the living room and every time my husband would look at me like I was insane. And it also became an all-nighter for me because I did not want to put it down. So you might wanna move it inside if it gets too dark.
This whole story, every dang character is a freaking character. Ida Sue is the town’s hottest gossip being a single mom of 9 kids. Gotta love small town gossip. Heck, my 3 kids are hard enough at times but Ida Sue has 9 and that woman is strong as an ox. If anything all those momma’s that do not have anything else to do but gossip should be taking notes because her kids are so AMAZING! The stuff those kids get into will have you laughing your tail off. From the 2 older boys that will melt your heart with the love they have for their momma, to the crazy antics of the littles. And good gravy, that woman and her sayings. Too freaking funny and a little close to home. I don’t know how many of those I have actually said hahaha!
Jensen is one of those drifter cowboys riding into town looking for work as a ranch hand. He is a little hard for me to put into words because he is just a warm fuzzy. He is that southern gentleman. He is the work hard all day and then comes home and cook dinner on top of that. The open the car door, walk the lady up to the front door type of gentleman. And loves Ida Sue’s kids. I think one of my favorite parts is when he first runs into one of Ida Sue’s little ones and Lord have mercy, I will think of that scene anytime I see someone smoke. But bonus part all that hard work has made Jensen on sexy as heck cowboy. I keep calling him that because that is what Ida Sue calls him, lol.
Anyways, I can go on and on but I don’t want to give anything away. Still, a huge fan of Jordan Marie but this ups her a notch, if she could go any higher who knows. From her MC bad boys to this Cowboy she is still my favorite one click author.
I absolutely loved the story of Jansen and Ida Sue. Getting to read their back story of how they met and how much heart ache each of them had suffered and then them falling in love…..it melted by dark, black heart. It was easy by no means, this is Ida Sue we are talking about and she is one head strong woman, but Jansen slowly thawed her out, with the help of the kids. Speaking of the kids, I love the bond they have even though they are all different ages ranges and how sneaky they used to be getting these two together.
Knocking Boots is a story that will take you from rolling around on the floor laughing, to being speechless to tears glistening in your eyes. Ida Sue and Jansen are two people who have been broken and have decided that being alone is what they are destined for. However when they cross each others paths maybe fate had something else in store for them. Their story is about trust, compromise and learning that love isn’t defined by last names and certificates. A book that is not only hilarious but packed full of emotions and heartfelt moments. These two have crazy chemistry that you will feel right through to your finger tips. A steamy hot rom com that will leave you wishing for your own cowboy.
Knocking Boots by Jordan Marie was a riot. A sweet, funny, sexy quick read that jumps right into the romance between Ida Sue and Jansen. This is the first Jordan Marie book I have read that wasn’t MC romance and while I am not a huge fan of “cowboy romances” I did enjoy this one. Obviously, since I mentioned this is my first non-MC romance by Jordan, I had not read the previous books in the Lucas Brother’s series. But I feel like I understood this book fine and it could read as a standalone. If you’re in the mood for a lighter, cowboy romance, then you should definitely read Knocking Boots. Ida Sue was just a little insane with her nine kids—all named after colors and flowers—but she was endearing as well. Jensen was certainly the Marlboro man come to life for Ida Sue. And the meddling kids?!?! I. died. Laughing!!!! It was fun to read the kids POV along with Ida Sue and Jansen’s POVs. An easy way to spend a few hours reading!!! 4 stars
I’ve always loved Ida Sue she’s such a pistol. After all she’s went through in the town of Mason, it’s about time some good comes her way. Jansen is exactly the person they all need in there lives. Ida Sue can give him something he didn’t think he could ever have and so desperately wanted. Jansen can give her something she’s never felt and the kids someone to be there besides their mama. I loved getting to know the back story of the family and how the kids meddled. It was hilarious. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. Definitely recommend. Absolutely love it!
I received a Advanced Readers Copy and I’m leaving a Voluntary Review
I have been excited to read IdaSue and Jansen story. IdaSue is a figure who I had admired alot..Mother of 9 children? She has to be a super woman!
‘Knocking Boots’ was easy to read and the book will absorb you with the warm feelings. Lucas family was special and you can feel the love between them.
This was a second chance romance.. with older couple twist.. why not? Everyone deserved love including IdaSue and Jensen. Their relationship were emotional.. the jokes and antics can made you laugh..sexy steamy? Jansen Reed was a walking hot old fox 🙂 Nothing is short with joy. I have enjoyed this book so much. Jordan wrote the story so beautifully..
The reality of being in love.. the rawness of personality.. Jordan, I love IdaSue.. she is a survivor!
Love, love, love this!
I was so excited when I heard we were getting Ida Sue’s story and I knew that I would love it. But what I didn’t figure on was that it would easy become my favorite book in the series. I’m totally in love with Jansen. What a freaking great character. He’s a true gentleman, like the kind our mothers told us about. He and Ida Sue are perfect together and their story was cute, sexy and extremely entertaining.
Of course the kids crack me up. It was wonderful reading about them in their younger years. The writing is phenomenal and the story pulls you in and you’re in love. Great read!
Ida Sue Lucas has her hands full raising 9 kids from a few different fathers and trying to run a ranch at the same time while remaining afloat. She is not well liked in town after several women believe she just married her last husband to get his ranch and money.
Jansen Reed is a cowboy looking for a job but he has no idea initially the mess Ida Sue is in until he accepts the job. Now he must figure out how to turn her ranch around before she loses it completely.
The chemistry between Jansen and Ida Sue is through the roof but with so many kids around will anything happen between the two of them?? When the kids take matters into their own hands anything can happen!!
I was really looking forward to this book as this author constantly leaves me laughing so hard at one moment and fanning myself off the next!
Ida Sue is such an awesome character and I only wish I was as cool as her. She has spunk and personality and I just seriously love her so much!! She has done an amazing job with her kids and she truly works her butt off doing whatever is necessary to have a roof over her kids head.
Jansen was pure sexy cowboy and I was so jealous of Ida Sue!! I loved that he only “shot blanks” but I hated what he went through in the past. I loved how far he went to make sure Ida Sue was going to be ok but I understood why she was so upset about it.
The chemistry between the two was intense and at the same time there were so many funny moments that the two shared!
My heart broke with the proposal but I understood a little bit of where Ida Sue was coming from as she remained a little afraid yet she was so committed to him.
I loved what the kids did at the end knowing what had to be done!!
The end with the surprise from the farm was awesome and I was so happy!! I am definitely looking forward to the next book but I am worried about both Maggie and Green!!
We’ve followed matriarch Ida Sue through her flowering daughters and her crayon sons. Her charm and wit ever shining. But this is a glance into the world that made Ida Sue the heroine we’ve been waiting for. Her hurt, fears, hope and dreams along with small victories, defeats and a last chance at love.
This woman is a reflection of real life. She could be our mother, sister, daughter, friend or me\you. Jordan Marie has given us a real woman. Be warned, she’s funny but get out the tissues because her journey isn’t an easy one. Just know that she’s an incredible character you’re gonna fall in love with.
Knocking Boots gives us a backlight to how Ida Sue became the brash and ball of fire she is. Along with the tumultuous love affair she and Jansen have been living. Jansen became a Hero in so many ways. And these kids, yeah, she did a heck of a job as a mother. Take a moment after reading this story reflect on how real life doesn’t always have a smooth journey getting to the HEA!
Loved this book!!
Loved getting a glimpse into IDA SUE past,
and the beginning of the crayon boys.
This book makes you laugh, swoon, blush,
… Ida Sue is my spirit animal!!!
Wow oh wow! I love the Lucas family! We have been treated to the stories of 4 of the Lucas children, but here we go back to were it all began, the crazy matriarch herself, Ida Sue Lucas. This woman is a force of nature, but she has been let down too many times that she has given up hope of a happily ever after waiting for her.
Enter Jansen Reed. Oh Holy Me Mi Mo! This man is definitely a panty melter. The rough ready cowboy who is a total gentleman to boot, be still my heart! After losing everything he loved, Jansen gas spent years wandering, searching for a place in the world to call his own. He is immediately drawn to Ida Sue, maybe two lists souls recognise each other.
Their relationship does not get off to the best of starts, but the way Ida Sue’s children decide to intervene, I swear it is little wonder she takes such an interest in their love lives in the present. It was freaking hilarious as well. At one point I was sitting on the bus reading on my way home from work, and one of the scenes with Cyan and Petal had me seriously testing my restraint not to laugh out loud on a crowded bus, it was brilliant. That is Jordan’s reward for her readers!
Jansen and Ida Sue’s relationship is something to envy, but it is not without its difficulties. Jansen has been burned in the past but Ida Sue has suffered in a way no woman should. If you have read “Happy Trail” you will know what that is. She is left with severe trust and abandonment issues and unfortunately Jansen is on the receiving end. Add in a few more twists and you a recipe for disaster. Pride and stubbornness threat to ruin everything. Will love conquer?
A funny, witty captivating read that will tickle your funny bones as well as your heart. Bring on the next in the series xox!
This is the fifth book in this phenomenal series, and this story delves into Ida Sue’s interesting back-ground, and her wonderful relationship with Jansen. This is a well written, amazing story, which is heart-warming, humorous, sexy, entertaining, and with secrets, which all lead to an all consuming read. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I cannot wait to read more from this amazing author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
Their story is so great!! It’s a journey, with growth and change. Ida Sue wasn’t always the woman we know and love. Raising nine children is hard, stressful, so much to handle and no time to relax. Jansen is just yummy and an amazing rock for Ida Sue and the kids. I loved every minute.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
OMG I’ve never laughed so much. Ida Sue is a rite.. and Jansen is so perfect for her. I’m so glad Jordan shared their story with us and I hope Jansen gets his answer ( hopefully Jordan will share that with us ) “hint hint” . Love the Lucas family.
Jordan Marie had me at page one of this book. I say this because I felt like this story was written for people like me. People who’s life was written in reverse. People who had a child before marriage. People who didn’t get it completely right on their first marriage. People who are scared to love again but still believe in true love. People who sacrifice for their kids daily and wouldn’t change a thing. People are tired almost everyday from work but come home to cook, clean, homework and get the kids settled in the bed. Then start the process all over again the next day. Then when you least expect it, a man you thought never existed, appears in front of you like a breath a fresh air. Someone who loves your kids just as much as you do. Someone who loves you beyond words. This is the story of Ida Sue and Jansen. This characters each had jagged hearts that fit perfectly together to become a perfectly shaped and complete heart . You will absolutely love this story
IDA SUE AND JANSEN….WHAT’S NOT TO LOVE!!!!
KNOCKING BOOTS can totally be read as a stand-alone, but, because I love this series, and I love the “Crayon gang,” (and I’m a tad OCD) I decided to re-read this series before I read this book…..and I am so glad I did…
Ida Sue has always been the smart, interfering-with-love and off the wall mother, at the center of the Lucas Family….KNOCKING BOOTS is hers and Jansen’s story…..and it may be my favorite book in the series…..
Jordan Marie gives us a glimpse of a younger Ida Sue and Jansen, and we get to see how they met, fell in love and made a life together, and it explained some things from the previous books, one being, why they never married….Jansen is a sexy, loving cowboy…..and since I pictured Sam Elliott every time I read Jansen’s words, It wasn’t hard to fall in love with him…
I loved KNOCKING BOOTS….I’m still going to wish and hope Ida Sue will marry Jansen someday….and I hope, when that time comes, they get another book….I LOVE IDA SUE AND JANSEN!!!!
The writing that Jordan put into the character of Ida Sue blew me away. My heart broke for Ida Sue in the beginning of this story, but it also showed me an example of a strong and determined woman despite her past. I also really enjoyed Jordan’s ability to write the story from multiple points of view aside from the main characters. Getting to read the kids insight into what was going on and what they were doing, they were definitely a lot more in-tune with what was going on than their mother thought, and it also showed the love that they had for their mother as well. Jansen realized early on what he wanted and worked towards doing anything he could to make his dreams a reality. He focused on his love and did anything he could do to show meaning in his actions rather than the words that Ida Sue always heard but never saw follow through. This was a great story – I just wish I had read the children’s books prior to reading this one because when I started reading I didn’t realize there were books prior that I should have read in order to get the full understanding and experience. I would definitely advise to set that up so other readers are aware. Overall though, another great Jordan Marie read!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
